  1. From all reports Percy Beames and Stuart Spencer were't half bad BUT the exercise IS THIS CENTURY., D 56!!!! There's always some one that plays outside the rules. Please go back to our Team of the 20th Century and create another topic !! PS If you do !!!! I saw all of Wells's games and almost all of Hassa's at the MCG. Wells is the Jonesey of the 70,s great in a poor team and Hassa was a junior in a great team till 65 then was our best player for another 5 years. Alves was one of our best wingers of course only just behind by the legend that is Brian Dixon!
  2. Thanks Rufus A little less "fake news " from D/L and the media driven news Might Temper this impression. Yes it's disappointing and a bit worrying but our own lack of belief also can lead us to imsgine the worst. Lets hope 2021 can allay any fears and we can fulfill our potential success dreams.
  3. However the impression about a prac game today at Casey between Tigers and Dees gained any traction staggers me. Clearly the dates of Feb 25 or 26 were listed ( and are still) so how come this mythical practice event warranted even Comment that it got is also surprising. It's the same Bleating snd constant posting about Casey Fields training and lack of Club website reporting since Jan or even late 2020. Access to Casey Fields is vital ( especially now with snakes around) but not one rep. From D/L has apparently to my knowledge spoken or contacted the Club Ie CEO, or Footy Dept about Possible access or importance of that role for our group to provide reports due to the tyranny of distance. This in no way reflects on the varied and comprehensive contributions that we have greatly appreciated on occasions We do tend to believe our posters and this practice match is a prime example. Did anyone ring the Club for verification?? Amazingly the doyen of our training reports of Previous years has either gone troppo or can't find his pen Or car keys to update Us. Has he retired? Can he approach the Club about ground access With his alleged contacts or has he retired? Or Is Casey below his dignity! Or is it so Covid related that the Council have ruled out restricted and safe access totally!! BTW hope he is in good health. We Are at times are our Own worst enemies believing the universe begins here and Are Often left with egg ( and mayonnaise) on our pens and faces to our detriment. Back to the real D/L infoline or the hotline to the Club might be better value.
  4. I know Who most Teams would like to face At the opening bounce and it's Bruce and Johnstone rather than Clarry and Trac. Ironically Trav is a Centreman really and Bruce mainly a half forward So changing them and 10% toughness would be the result.and players in their best possie also. In addition Vince might provide versatility but our Bernie is not the Adelaide version do Robbie as our third highest goal kicker earns a bench spot on decade of devotion and thrills he gave us! ( Still he hardly ever picked up a ball off the ground once he flew and missed the mark). Did Bizzell play long enough ? I mean Ward Walsh Even Hibbo have played enough In comparison. Ingerson surely over May who in 2 years will be a cert for FB.
  5. Bit harsh on Tommy but he has to perform no doubt. So does Mitch Brown who is very honest when selected Think you will find both Fritsch and Jacko will with Kossie get more of the ball this year and do much more with it with Bowey ANB Laurie Rosman Debuting and Spargo improVing our competitive assault we should get a lot more goals with team play and varied style players crumbing leading and greater skills in conversion. Then BBB can come back and provide a spearhead of quality with Weid about mid year getting his opportunity to join a productive and improving forward line.
  6. Agree and Yze will need to change our stats stars phobia (except for Trac who just instinctively shows great disposal and team traits). Clarrie and Jack need to change and Harmes needs to return in form in the midfield and I feel that both Sparrow and Jordon are waiting in the wings impatiently for their turn To help our team as well the likes of Salem and even Bowey and Laurie may get Yzes nod to cameos Where and when considered necessary or and/or appropriate.
  7. Suggest you alter the facts Biff and if that was your son doing that what would you say? Being a good son or Imply that it does not mean he can't play footy (and you know it! )
  8. How many games played of available ( when not injured is the critical figure but you left that out for Whatever reason ) ??? I agree this injury puts pressure on Sam but if ever he is hogging to make it this year is his best chance. I have faith that given a chance he will respond but at best now he may not be to convince Club other than a one year contract extension or even a rookie chance. Heres hoping Sam can show he is good enough.
  9. Line that idea I have picked Salo in my early dude's fir 2021 but lately based on his form determination and the track reports are convinced that Fraser Rosman is advanced enough in his development and also importantly physique. Plays naturally and creates opportunities with run all day. No point in delaying him if he is ready and earned an opportunity on the wing. Will also add to our marking wherever he plays at 193cm. However Salem is still a great option fir wing or even half forward with his elite Skills.. Also don't think we should rule out either Bowery or Laurie for a start up forward wing or even half back using Jake as a Caleb Daniel type. Plenty of options I MO if the newbies show up in the trial games, But still like moving Salo further up the ground Pates your idea and mine is a good one. Sales last few games in 2020 were top class in output and impact.
  10. Others will stop Goody this year and he is obviously not fit!
  11. Done more training in full match practice than Melksham!!
  12. How come you have not ruled out Melksham he has done very little training also ? Rosman a shoe in on the other wing.
  13. He can be training up forward on Friday DD if asked. He has been up forward you would know but many Dees fans believe he could play Forward also with success, asked on about 3/4 games in 2019 up forward. Your statement seems just like Goody's inflexibility which we don't need at our Club especially when injuries are occurring in a major way.
  14. Thanks EH good update and hope you enjoyed your lunch. its perplexing why we can't get some players disposal issues Solved A game plan can't work without reasonable disposal. I thought Choco was the kicking expert so what's happening there? If Salem can do it and Trac Does it automatically ( instinctly) then others should be able to improve. Hope we don't ruin the new recruits that are Good disposers with all our rushed play on drills. Lets look for some improvement In this over the next 4/5 weeks. Thanks Again EH.
  15. The,Coach and list manager should be discussing their wishes with the Recruiting Manager who then with the Football Manager come up with the best strategy to get the pick No's As high as possible to get the required draft choices. In essence what happens is the aRecruiting staff go watching certain players to see if they measure up etc. They are the best available then best available in wanted positions eg. Fast outside mid or small forward who crumbs and kicks goals. This assists the Club put together its 40 odd players on draft and trade periods. Ongoing discussion would be held With Coach and List Manager. In my opinion we do not know at picks 21 and 22 if Laurie and Bowey are the best remaining footballers. It out list needs clever speedy runners on the ball or up forward with good disposal and that was their target. They seemed very happy with both esp JT. Poita you say JT is besotted with Small's who don't get the ball! To be fair JT has not picked a true Small until Kossie maybe that Johnstone was one who didn't measure up. Jeffy last Garlett was good but a Blues lifeline. Charlie Spargo is on the threshold of being a regular if his development and size are as good as most track watchers are reporting. With Kossie Charlie Laurie and Bowey we appear now to have 4 good chances of having a balanced forward line who can put some scare factor into our opponents. Pollyanna and DeeSpencer just say the best approach is to pick the next best footballer and speculate at or near the end of the list. That is far too general a plan and am sopleased that JT does not follow that plan as that's why our midfield is full of Goodwin bulls who can get the ball but need some help to place it to our forwards advantage or to our runners out of defence. In trade Langdon was targeted for a Wing and I have no doubt that Rosman will Be right in line for the other if he keeps impressing and showing that he wants that spot. He might well have been a speculative at pick 34 But we were only looking for 3 players from the draft and once a recruit gets to a footy Club his pick no is not his major factor in gaining momentum and adapting to the AFL Club system. Like Hubs some adapt quicker than others. I am so confident that the JT strategy has worked in 2019 and 2020 drafts that we will see this season first hand The choice of Best footballers along with needs and special skills Work well in our favour. That in my opinion is all we can ask instead of just blandly picking the next best player ( another inside mid for Goody) who does not enhance our list to challenge the Tigers Cats and Lions of the AFL.
  16. Eddie is not ATRUMP so will be well clear of their deliberations. His main aim now will be how he can be a supporter and get them a flag in 2021. Besides he is on other Boards and Other Orgs plus his TV commitments. The one in doubt may be his Fox job but by then he will have no doubt realised they can't do without him!!!
  17. "Best 2 Available players "can be subjective " Polly and DEESP. I have no doubt that Bowey and Laurie were the " best 2 available for Melbournes needs" and that's all I am worried about. If the best player generally considered at 21 was a ruck and 22 was a half Back flanker MOST fans would be livid if our 2 started starring fir later picks at other Clubs knowing we needed outside runners for our midfield and forward line. And the list at 34 changes at every no prior with different selections so a quick reaffirmation of your selection With the "voters' is Quite within order. Melb has 3 mins ( I think might be more) to place our selection so there is no hurry. It's not indecision but ticking your box carefully. Thank heavens dime D/L ers are nit allowed any where near JT and his team in the Box!!!
  18. BRFE You do realise that the Cats Traded up Deliberately to pick 20 and got in first before us for Holmes That's why Holmes DID NOT appear the be in the picture ! He wasn't he was gone Pick 20 GFC!!!!
  19. Another Quarter GLASS full Open the eyes that is a very good summary of where we sit. Don't be surprised if most of that falls into place.
  20. Damo It's not 4 months PS training its strictly Jan for 4 years and above players plus any private work Burgo gave each player. They had to have 6 weeks whatever off as Annusl leave also since late September. Late year remember due to Covid!! You just cant always pick the best player in a position it doesnt always give team balance and Practice Or pre Season matches are also for Experiments!
  21. Nascent We had already done our trading up to get 2 first round selections prior to the draft!!! You have forgotten. vety good selections and happened the way any supporter could be pleased about. 2 best kicksxand 2 best decision makers Thank you very much and Rosman the Big Smokey with all the ability and run in his tank! Ready made fir a wing ( and cameos on the forward line and no doubt at half back!) Well done JT and team. Let the tougher stuff reveal the beauty in these decisions.
  22. But you are not funny OD. Boring and repetitive!! Quarter glass full stuff.
