  1. Really not too worried about the umpring at all aside from a bit of holding. Many of the lion's free kicks have been for holding the ball. Their tackling has been excellent, while we've been fumbly and not choosing the first option. If we're gonna win this we need more from the midfield, Oliver and Trac can do the damage.
  2. Can't give Cameron anywhere near that much space, really poor
  3. Brisbane marking everything so far, but if they're gonna keep playing slow like this, then they'll need to keep grabbing them all game. Our work around the contest has been poor by our standards so far, but Brisbane's pressure has been excellent. Gawn dominant in the ruck, but need Oliver and Petracca to break out of the stoppages more as the game goes on.
  4. Out: Weid, Langdon (if injured) In: B.Brown, Baker In some ways I'd like to keep Weid in to build his confidence, but at the same time it's important to drive standards, and Brown deserves a chance to build confidence in the 1s as well. Looking forward, Viney comes into this team but I have no idea at who's expense.
  5. 6. Oliver 5. Harmes 4. Brayshaw 3. Lever 2. Petracca 1. TMac
  6. Brayshaw has now finally become comfortable on the wing. Last three or four matches has been filling up space really well, and halving contests where he's at a disadvantage. Won't get much time in the spotlight playing this role, but is crucial to the team and highlights the selfless attitude the boys have been talking about. Harmes and Neal-Bullen other role players doing their role to perfection.
  7. Outstanding quarter and I wish I was there. Also if I was there I'd be giving it to that umpire about that TMac block call, just held his ground and Crozier jumped into him, we were off.
  8. Jason Taylor isn't afraid to pick up less well known players, wouldn't surprise me if we picked up a 19 year old who didn't get to show their wares last year.
  9. 6. Salem 5. TMac 4. Lever 3. Oliver 2. Langdon 1. Jordon Honourable mention to Jayden Hunt who is in career best form
  10. Even his free kicks against has been cut in half. Had great intent last year with his pressure, but so much more discipline this year.
  11. 6: Pickett 5: Fritsch 4: Jackson 3: Langdon 2: May 1: Salem
  12. I'm expecting more of the same. Hawks to challenge at times throughout the game, but for us to hold our nerve and win without great threat. 5 goal win.
  13. 21000 attendance shows the pessimism of the fanbase. Despite the win today I'm not feeling much more optimistic. We are having the same clearance issues that we've had for two years, and a good team would have punished us today. Zone defence is looking very good though, and I thought our entries inside 50 were improved, even without our preferred key forwards.
  14. Overall very positive signs for mine. Richmond with most of their best 22, and decent effort from both teams. -Small forwards worked well. Spargo and Chandler the standouts. Both should maintain their spots in the best 22. -TMac moving well and clunking a few contested marks. -Key position defenders did well, Lever and Gawn finding plenty of intercepts -Won the clearances and managed to turn a lot of them into clean inside 50s. Nankervis doesn't provide much of a threat to Gawn though. -Use of the corridor was pleasing. The speed of ball movement was impressive in general. The new manning the mark rule will benefit players with speed, such as Hunt, Baker and Rivers. -No injuries, fitness appeared up to scratch
  15. Midfield has been looking very good in the contest. Much more comparable to 2018.
  16. Personally I don't want to see Petty up forward, let him settle into the role he's been training for down back. I think we harmed Joel Smith's development significantly by constantly swapping him between forward and back. I'd rather have Fritsch and M.Brown out of the goalsquare, with T.Mac and Jackson roaming between half forward and wing.
  17. Feels like a win-win to me. Next year's draft is meant to be quite strong and a future third is very much useable. Hannan is borderline best 22 for us, but will be a near lock in the Dogs' forwardline. With Bennell and Hannan out though, and Melksham getting older, I hope we target some forwards in this draft.
  18. I'd be very happy to take him on a reasonably cheap contract. We know he can fit within our forwardline, and in theory we should be more capable of addressing any issues with him compared to other clubs. Just depends if there's any bad blood between Hogan and the club.
  19. Free agency makes a lot of sense from a player perspective. I don't think it's unreasonable that a player should be able to force a move to an employer or their choice after 8/10 years. The problem is that the destination club gets the player for free. I think there should be a draft point penalty in a similar way to how father-son and zone selections work. For example if Jeremy Cameron leaves as a free agent then GWS will get compensation of pick 9. Geelong should have to pay the equivalent value in draft points, in this case 1469 points. This can be taken from their current picks, and even carry over to the next season if they don't have sufficient points, as is the case this year for Fremantle. This also discourages stealing free agents off the weaker clubs as you will have to pay more compensation. This would actually be more beneficial for equalisation.
  20. Would we actually get anything useful for him? I'd rather keep him as depth. If we have May, Lever and Tomlinson playing as key defenders every game, then that only leaves Smith as defensive key depth, and he's hardly even a key defender. I'd rather Petty be allowed to develop up forward, and I don't want TMac's form to get even worse by swinging him between back and forward.
  21. If we have any confidence in Bradtke's development then I'd be happy to take a third rounder for him. However I think we could possibly squeeze a late second out of GWS should they think he's their man.
  22. Weitering had a great performance in round 1 and carried that hype for an entire season. May was significantly better than him and Collins probably was too. Darcy Moore in a similar situation. Had multiple bad games through the middle of the year that the selectors are happily ignoring.
  23. Quaynor getting the nomination is a joke. Rivers and Scholl were significantly better than him this week. Also if you're looking at body of work Rivers and Quaynor have basically the same stats this season.
  24. I'm happy with the selections. It's not an inspiring lineup but the players currently out of the team were all given chances and didn't perform. Swapping all of our forwards every week doesn't help anyone, so I'm glad to see slightly more continuity.
  25. Not really. If we finish anywhere outside the 8 then our pick would likely only fall 1-4 selections. Ugle Hagan will definitely push it down 1 spot, Braeden Cambell could get a bid inside the top 10, and then possible free agency compo for Brad Crouch or Joe Daniher. The problem with this draft is the lack of exposure of the Victorian players, but this could actually be beneficial to us, as some highly talented Victorians could slide a little further down the draft.
