Farewell Jesse Hogan
Confirmed is a bit strong Darcy said he had good mail that's what is on the cards. Jones stumbled unconvincingly around the Hogan leaving bit, said nothing about the return currency I took it as it's almost certain he's gone. Deal to be finalised.

Farewell Jesse Hogan
Here's to this thread reaching the ton ? Must mean there's something in it... Jonesey basically just said as much

Farewell Jesse Hogan
Seems a good tactic to get GC into the process, as far as currency they have the most and will help to up the price we can receive

JKH signs on for another year
Well earned indeed He worked hard on those defensive aspects as well as his tank, but was also reliable user of the ball albeit not often in damaging positions I hope he continues to improve and gets to play ~10 games next year

Viney on crutches
He said he had an ankle operation post season finishing, characterised it as a "clean out" of a troublesome ankle and said it was booked straight away as there's not all that much time between season and preseason. Similarly Oliver, Hannan, Jetta, also had ops.

Farewell Jesse Hogan
I completely agree. I was astounded hearing that stat add he line up a set shot in the GF Unsurprisingly he missed it! Would've been nice to keep Pedo as an emergency backup for Full Forward for next year. He'd have been fine for 1 more year and for that position (FF)

Can we throw in Garlett ?

Farewell Jesse Hogan
Agree but they'll roll through on recontracting So with some on longer term deals and some higher enders coming off the general increasing trend would help the club as it grabs new players

Farewell Jesse Hogan
The salary cap is on the rise though... right? Not sure but I think it's + $1m for next year

Delisting, Trade and FA discussion 2018
Tend to agree We've only really got ability to make one or two mid-level trades in and buy one RFA. Add 3-4 kids later in the draft and 1-2 State leaguers in and were looking at about 7 ins. Assuming no big name trade out (e.g. Hogan)... I think this means Retire: Vince, Pedersen, Balic Delist: Bugg, Filipovic, Trade: Tyson, Garlett Question mark ?: Johnstone, McKenna, King, T Smith (has he got a one year ext??) Then Lewis is safe and we need to Re-Sign: Vandenberg, Kennedy-Harris, Kent and a few of the Question Marks

Thanks Cameron Pedersen
I loved his work particularly how clean a one-grab mark he was in the last few years All the best Peds

Who do we realistically target for a trade?
I have stuff all understanding of the trade system and have a couple of questions... We have 2018 picks 32/43/50/86 currently (tbc once FA compensation and priority picks awarded). I assume 2019 picks are still intact but at present you'd have to expect we're going to have late round picks (and will eventually have to retain future first rounders under the rules). We don't have a heap of currency in our fringe players who'd be after better opportunities elsewhere, and there seems little enthusiam for trading a top player. This being the case, how do we realistically get a Lachie Whitfield or another contracted player? Are we simply going to be limited to bring in Free Agents? Any thoughts appreciated.

Must address in pre-season
The set shot stats the commentators kept spouting today about T. Smith were woeful, to top it off he had a pretty gettable one which he missed late also... For me this and a fairly shouse year makes it a bit of a surprise he's getting an extension

Must address in pre-season
Agree mostly with all 3, although on 2 our game plan calls for centering / switching and we do it most if the time until we're under pressure, and then we stop For the how, i think we need to 1. SPEED - Identify our current speed, and play them in appropriate positions - BRING IN SPEED 2 & 3 KICKING - Get some really good kickers (a la Hawthorn of past 10 years), if you look at our mids/flankers tell me who are the elite kickers? Who don't you worry about when they're kicking on the 45 degrees to attack? I don't think we have any elite (a few good ones) but mostly average kickers - Lift focus on kicking precision - it's a learned skill and our good kickers can improve a bit, and the average ones a lot Our recruitment has been great for hard ball getters, I'm not criticising this at all because it was desperately needed and got us to this years result but next steps are outside speed and precision I reckon we have 8 spots available on the list due to these outs... Retired 2: Balic and Vince Delist/Trade 4 (uncontracted): Bugg, Johnstone, One of (King, Filipovic), One of (Pederson, T. Smith) Trade 2 or 3 (contracted): Garlett, One or Two of (Tyson, Hunt, Kent, .... others?) This means we need to re-sign: AvB, JKH, Keilty, McKenna, Two others (e.g. King, Pederson) Big task for the list managers without much in the way of picks... In fact I've probably gone overs calling for 8 changes (??)
