  1. The rehab was working hard. All sprinting, like they were achieving, under distance and time restrictions. Salem, M.White, J. Smith, Spargo and another VFL player. M. White and Salem continued to run laps. Spargo and J.Smith attended some drills. Smith's thumb still giving him some concern, as he attended to it a few times after marking. First out on the field, 4 minutes before the rest of the squad, was the backline (Petty not with them). It looks like they want to go well after last week's effort. The drills started a bit low-key, and they were slightly off, iffy, clean handling and distribution. The second drill, they started finding their voice and skills improved. The third drill and they're humming, They spilt into two groups, that both worked on ball movement from the backs, thoughtfully to mids and finding angles and passes to advantage into the forwards. Finished the session with goal kicking. Tracc and Lever looking very good. Gawn started with some resistance work and joined in all the drills (ready to go). Did lots of work as a forward. L.Bailey is looking very smooth when moving and kicking. The effort and intensity was much higher than the other Captain runs I have seen. Go Dees
  2. I assumed you meant uneven placement of the hands, so the ball hits them at different times. I understand your description, and will look more closely at JVR's method next time.
  3. 20 AFL games. [JVR taking marks]
  4. I think you are right about the ball bouncing out of JVR's hands when marking, though I don't think it is the positioning. Hands are too stiff, no give when the ball is there. He has buckets for hands and I can see him developing those grabs, which he can take (training observations). Could be related to "not being loose as a goose" when playing. Give him some time, a few great games and he may be able to show us something. At least he is bringing it down for the front and centres, which appears to be be the instructions.
  5. @Tim, @DemonWheels, @old dee, @old55, @layzie, @pitmaster, @Bimbo, @sisso, @tiers, @Demons1858, @Demonland, @Hawk the Demon. Does anyone have an answer to why you didn't nform this site and myself about the training today? At the moment, I feel taken for granted. I need support, otherwise I will not post and you can get reports from another. I turned up today with guess work and uncertainty. That could have been totally different, a little heads up would be appreciated.
  6. When I first saw JVR's knee, about two weeks ago, he had one of those supportive elasticised bandages on it, then it was a sticky sports bandage. Today I didn't notice, but it seems to be progressing in size. Hoping they are just trying to give it the support it needs and is not an ongoing problem.
  7. Yes a tag, hard or run with, depending on who we need to slow. So for me neither, mid nor back. I couldn't answer the poll question. I love his game when he gets the ball before the one he is tagging.
  8. I would love to have voted, Harmes as a pure tagger, follow them wherever they go, play fwd, back, mid and bench, whoever he has to slow down.
  9. If demonlander's hear of training sessions, could you please post about it. I know today was about the club celebrating those with 10+ years of continual membership, but! School holidays and stuff, others wouldn't have interfered. Given how many attended today, maybe >200, and nothing about it on this social network site, I am disappointed. Did the email suggest you shouldn't inform others, or do those with the email feel special? Good to develop division amongst the supporters. Covid interfered with my sequence of membership (trapped outside of Oz). I have supported the club since I was 12, making 50 years of loyal support (though not always a member). I am sure there are plenty on here who feel the same way. Why not be informative?
  10. Noticed the media, who were at the Dee's training today, carried stories about us tonight. They won't get over to Casey at the main training (too far to travel), and will cover other clubs. The sports news stories about us later in the week, have used some stock video this season. A good chance they will use today's footage when/if presenting a story about us, later. Means we have less outside scrutiny, keep 'em (and us) guessing
  11. I have also used the Ponsford level 4, the GA, is also pushed up to nose bleed. During a Collingwood game they were handing out reserved seat tickets as the GA was maxed out. Not great seats though.
  12. The Anzac night game, gets big support. The GA section in level 4 is pushed up to the nose bleed area. A reserved seat for these blockbuster game is recommended, unless you are arriving very early.
  13. The people there said they sent emails.
  14. She was also playing up to the crowd, though the players and coaches must be giving her that impression.
  15. Viney was working with a trainer, one on one. Must be a niggle of some kind, as didn't appear too hampered. Salem also working one on one with a trainer. Did some 200 meter easy boundary runs and some resistance training with the big rubber band, as he dragged his trainer behind him. My guess is, still a way to off full effort. Most of those out there when snapping goals, were nailing them. I think they are building to hit the Tigers hard. Quote from Roffey; A Richmond supporter ask her how they will go Anzac Eve, She implied, I wouldn't want to be Richmond.
  16. From what I saw, he looked good. Standing tall, good hands, hopefully he can see a window, and at the main training can push hard.
  17. The previous trainings for the start of the week have that I have been to, have all been a kinda stretch and run through, without much else. They last about 40 minutes. Today's, the players appeared low key, not much joy, exuberance or talking. Which was unusual, but understandable given the weekends game. Alan Richardson had a Q&A, plenty of questions about what happened in Adelaide. Couldn't hear his response.
  18. He was out there
  19. Only one speaker, so it was a bit difficult to hear clearly. Roffey, said, preaching to the converted and that they want 75000 members.
  20. Yes he was
  21. Rehab, Verral, K.Turner, Viney, and Salem. All the rest in full training. Gawn, Hibbo, J. Smith, Farris-White, Lever, BBB. Sorry have to leave. Hopefully someone else here can give a full report.
  22. They have invited 10 year members down to Gosch's. Nothing on website training pages. Apparently by email, crowd is building, no players yet, probably 11 am start. I'll report when I get back home. Addit:11.10 players still not out.
  23. I would like to see Brayshaw play a high half forward role, replacing Spargo. BBB to replace Petty at forward. I think the Petty up forward has not worked out. Petty to play only as a backman, looked confused when forward, and not taking marks. The only swing players I think are Gawn, Rivers, TMac, and maybe Grundy. Lever (River), Hibbo (Brayshaw) and Petty (Tomlinson out) to help May and the two young ones (Bowey, McVee). Sparrow, Bowey, close to being dropped. In: Lever, Hibbo, BBB Out: Spargo, TMac and Tomlinson
  24. Just finished watching the game. AFL live was very late in posting it. My thoughts are we were a bit off. Some players were fumbley and had trouble getting into the game. Langdon, McVee, Bowey, May, Chandler, Sparrow, Rivers, TMac, Tomlinson, JJ, Fritta, ANB, Kossie (more than half the team). Some looked tired and lazy. The Dons match ups, worked well. We play our best game when we hold the ball in our 50 area, the backs can then push high and so create multiple entries. Didn't see much of that. Essendon were much cleaner/harder/smarter, able to make quicker decisions that came off, and moved the ball well to mark in their 50. We played from behind and let them have control of the play. We didn't always lift our eyes when kicking into attack, so turnovers/intercepts and not being able to kick to advantage, hurt us. There were a lot of selfish plays, where it looked like โ€œI will do it aloneโ€. (Fritta, Melksham, Pickett). Our connection/support/ talk was lacking, and we couldn't read or execute the moment. The zoning, as well as getting to the fall of the ball, didn't work. We will have a few sore players, and the 10-day break has come at the right time.
