In the FNWB forums, I was pleasantly surprised that a lot of Footscray fans were posting how they’d love to see us win a premiership next. But on Facebook I saw a lot of them teasing us saying it will take another 57 years until we win. Really? You end your (longer) drought 5 years ago and already are laughing at other’s? I certainly wouldn’t be laughing at St Kilda. I know what it’s like and they still have a shorter one than we did. There’s something to be said for not forgetting where you were a few years ago

Yes they do. It will spoil the memories later A lot of great teams have faltered in the first round. It take a while to get into gear again. Remember we beat reigning premiers North in the opening round in 1997 then won only 3 more games.

The thing is this will be likely the highest attended home and away game for that season. Many fans and potential fans will come to it. If we lose to the bulldogs and especially if we lose badly, this could have a devastating effect on people who haven’t signed up yet. No, I think we wait until we’ve had a few and then publicise the blockbuster. If fans are liking what they see, then the potential for large crowds is even higher

I’m the opposite. Since we’re premiers, no one can say anything bad about Melbourne. Not even about the last win we had. Once the season starts, we’re up for any kind of criticism again. I just want to being to of the world for the rest of this year.

It would be great if they could find the lost 1964 footage to go with it. A friend who I used to go to the footy with thought it was a conspiracy from the AFL. They really had the footage and were withholding it so we wouldn’t have any place to watch a premiership, so we’d be starved for a premiership, making us an even more prime target for merger. He also claimed that the media was against us in 2000, because the AFL was still pushing us as an ideal merger/relocater team. I wonder what he thinks now 🤔
