    I disagree with this.

Marchbank’s ‘touch’ being disallowed means we finish top 2.

Every single AFL ready key forward we have on our list has been injured for massive chunks of the season. Every time we find a solution it got taken away.

We’ve had back to back finals against the only 2 teams still in the race that could drown us out at the G.

One of our favourite sons gets knocked out in a thug move and everyone pretends it’s not, purely for their job security and ratings.

Yet still Friday night, undermanned and exhausted by all of this we will be there in droves to support our team.

Our supporters are so much more resilient than we get credit for, and the crowd numbers this year prove it.

Go Dees. Make some [censored] noise. The whole worlds against us, but that can’t stop us.

Nailed it, great post. Reading it has me ready to run through walls. I bet the playing group are feeling the same right now.

  2. "What could Maynard have done differently?"

For a start, not making a largely unrealistic attempt at a smother by leaving the ground at speed and then turning your shoulder inside to knock someone in a completely vulnerable position into next week, causing the likely end of their AFL career and potential long term detrimental health issues?

Amazing how we see players smothering the ball 100's of times week in week out yet only (to my memory) have we seen such a catastrophic outcome in this case alone.

Huge line in the sand moment for the AFL, they've done the right thing by grading it appropriately.

Footy act or not (what a stupid term that is by the way), severe impact is severe impact and it must be punished.

  3. Of all the guys this could have happened to, why did it have to be Gus? Genuinely upset over this.

Maynard is a dog, and he’ll cop his 3 weeks here. There is no way a hit with this sort of outcome can be excused, regardless of intent (which isn’t necessarily a defence these days anyway).

Maynard knew damn well what he was trying to do and he succeeded.

There is a few players doing well that we've lost that wouldn't get a game with us, that are going well else-where.

Hunt, Bedford, McInerney, Weideman,....one or two others, that I can't think of.

It shows how deep our list has been in recent years.

Weideman?!?!?! We have very different interpretations of what doing well means.

It's cheating you can call it anything you want but it's still cheating.

Cheating implies intent. It is possible someone can be mistaken in the heat of the moment.

But hey, I’m all for removing “cheating” from the game. How do you propose we go about that?

If your plan is to penalise players for calling touched when it isn’t, your now saying we need to add yet another grey area which needs interpretation and relies on flawed review technology. No thanks!

Not talking about the goal Ump that's an easy fix it's the players cheating on the field. You can call it game play but I'm calling it cheating and needs to be removed from the game.

It's human nature to advocate for point if you believe you got a hand on it, calling for it to be removed from the game only adds to the overwhelming complexity of how our game is adjudicated.

Umpires should just be ignoring the players when they do it (which I'm sure they've already been instructed to do anyway).

It’s not even gutsy. We fluked a flag and have since looked like sh*t. Hardwick coached lesser talent to multiple flags. If he is available and wants the gig we’d be remiss to not ask the question. We’re a bottom 8 side in 2023.

  8. It's all well and good to have state of the art cameras, but the cost to have them at every ground around Australia would be more than people think. Then you have discrepancies from ground to ground where said cameras can be mounted, which changes the angles etc.

I get the argument for better investment in the technology, but if it can't be equally applied across all grounds then it's going to create issues of its own.
