H Petty is no David Neitz playing as an 18 yro at CH Back and starring. However he looks the goods, Can mark is steady and precise with his skills. He is a big boy and can run. The circumstances in his first game he was given a hard role to play with beside Joel Smith which l don't rate and alongside OMac not much experience to take the game on or switch play to launch an attack from the back line against ST Kilda which we lost that game by a very small margin. Petty was given the wrong game to make his debut which wasn't helped by his 2 team mates.

The game plan is out the door if you don't play your role and execute it. The Game Plan got us to a Preliminary Final.

We have improved every year since 2014 with 4 wins and the personnel that was picked up along the way . Not just the football department the whole of the MFC. Although beaten by WCE , 16 wins were produced along the way and in that, 2 great Finals wins against teams we couldn't beat when it counted over a long time. However the improvement has been there for 5 years as our numbers tell the story. 4 wins in 2014 to 16 wins in 2018 as the arrow points North. We are well on the way as there is plenty of scope for improvement. Not disappointed just exited for whats to come.

Post Match Discussion - Preliminary Final
nosoupforme replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
We lost the plot in the first half and looked disorientated, couldn't take a trick Some decision went against us and the the ball seemed to follow the Eagles. You make your own luck and good luck to them. However we have improved and there is this light at the end of the tunnel that is shinning so bright and i can't wait for the Guys to come back positive with the way they performed during the year and the first two Finals. Not forgetting our team playing in front of two 90 thousand crowd cheering at the G and the majority for the Dees! I am so proud of them and l feel that we will be challenging if not for a top 4 position most certainly for a top 2 spot. The belief is there now. The Guys will be better for the journey. 2019 can't come quick enough. -
Team they seemed overawed. Team they seemed lost Team in a trance.

I have watched that goal by Melky many more times than the Hannan goal against the Cats. That was my Buzz Goal. -
Jason Taylor you say that is the best thing you have done in your life is by coming to Melbourne fc and you love the people you work with here. We are fortunate to have such a great recruiting manager and to be successful. Thanking you for being part of our great club.

Match Preview and Team Selection - Preliminary Final

Fritta is the most unluckiest person in football sense to miss the Preliminary final. He has been used in just about every position on the ground bar Rucking. Played 23 games kicked 17 goals and you cannot ask for more from a first year player. Joel Smith IMO hasn't shown me as an observer that he is ready to take his place in the team and no disrespect to him l hope he can help us get over the line. Joel has played 7 games this year for a total of 10 career games. Well they the FD see something that most of us don't. I hope they have got this right with him and l will be watching his progress with great interest on Saturday. Fritta hang in there you have been fantastic for us over the year and helped us to where we are at the moment. You are part of our future. Keep your head up champ. We know that you will be back sooner rather than later. With some luck in the GF. Go Dees! -
Yes many of us had numbers on our footy jumpers. My favorite player was John Townsend no.16 that l wore on my back and proud to. He was a rover and played in the 1964 GF. Kicked 35 goals and was our leading goalkicker that premiership year.

Apart from injury why would you think of a change to our side when they have won their two finals by an average of 5 goals plus. Tyson's last quarter was good although he did not have many possessions for the game. He is due and we go with what we have. I saw him picking up Burgoyne in the 3rd Quarter a few times. He must have had a role to play. He seemed to be smiling along with Goody after the game. Rare to see changes to a winning combination in finals.

Oliver doesn't care if you don't like him
nosoupforme replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Well don't stick your hands out and push a champion player like Clarry OR HE WILL DO WHAT IT TAKES TO FRUSTRATE AND GET ONE ON YOU. He doesn't like to come second to anyone and anything because he is a winner and l hope it rubs of on all our team. Go Dees! -

Yeh! and so what! Don't worry what the nuff nuffs are saying . However it is more stressful when we are not winning. if and when we win a Premiership we will take the Cup to the snow with us .and celebrate with all the other Dee supporters. Make up for lost time.

1964 memories- calling our older supporters
nosoupforme replied to Cassiew's topic in Melbourne Demons
I remember listening to the radio with my Dad being 11 years old wearing my Melbourne jumper with the number 16 on my back. Johnny Townsend's number. I am hoping this could be the year and if not we are not that far away this time. -
Eddie is good for the game as long as Collingwood is doing better than all. A leopold doesn't change his spots. An old saying ...Keep your friends close and your enemies closer. Eddie you are our enemy.

We have to keep turning our list over and to make it Better and stronger than what it is then.

Hey Dr.D , I just like to let you know this kid called Oskar Baker can play and is highly regarded. This is the kind of kid that we are going after to make our club better. You will see much of him next season. I will keep you informed. -

Match Preview and Team Selection - Semi Final
nosoupforme replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
We are talking about a new era that we are Building a super team with a young midfield full of super talents led by Viney , Oliver, Brayshaw, Harmes , Petracca , Co skipper Jones is there to pick up the scrapes nurturing the young mids while Max dictates the game. Yes we are in a good place and we don't fear the Hawks , they fear us just ask the majority of their supporters. We back our team because we believe. -
Hunty although dropped early in the season his input wasn't enough and struggled a bit. Injured his ankle with Casey and out for6 weeks plus. Forced himself back in the side and re injured the ankle. However a few weeks out from the finals Melbourne had a settled side. He has had an up and down season however he doesn't lack the skill and application just a bit of confidence. He is an integral part of the make up but if Melbourne keep winning in finals it will be hard for anyone to break in at this stage of the season.

Dees shutdown star eyes biggest scalp yet.
nosoupforme replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Its getting to a level now that O'Meara will need to find one of our young guns and man him. May it be Angus or Clarry. Harmes will go to T Mitchell and that will be another good scalp for him . Viney well he can just go and get the ball and do his party tricks and rub some noses into the ground. Petracca is due for one of his better games. Too many headaches for the Hawks. Starting to love it.
