  1. I  rate Jake even if it was a bizarre   year  in 2020.  Looked disinterested at times however l will reserve my judgement  for until after round 5. Needs to play a role in the forward line where he would be suited now that Ben Brown is with us.

Will be looking for improvement from Jake with interest.

  2. 2019  GWS  Tomlinson  pinch hit in the ruck in most of their games 58 hit outs 155 marks 425 disposals  and kicked 4 goals a pretty good season and no wonder Goody chased him to play a role on the wing.

He was pretty average in 2020 however if you go by the stats of 2019 and his highlights he stood out so there is improvement in his game to come. if he plays to his ability he will be valuable for us  for sure. watching with interest in 2021.

His injuries have been unfortunate, his decline and regression painful to watch.

His contract situation and lack of trade interest is depressing. So much precious cap wasted.

Tmac signed at the right time when he was on top of his game however that is the nature of the game. It is unfortunate to see a decline in his play and there might be a number of reasons. He is certainly carrying an injury and that doesn't help confidence.

If they don't move him on and he stays so be it.  Why not play him down back and why do others disagree?  If he can get himself right get him down there. There is a position there for him where he can play the role.   We have a spud down back that is not of AFL standard  and many supporters are blind to see that let alone our coach.  Get him right and let him earn his keep.

  4. Mitch Hannan  good skills with hands strong mark good goal sense and he could tackle. His form has not been great since  2018.

Wish him the best as he was an honest player for us. That goal  v Geelong is one l will always remember.

    Good luck Mitch.

I am glad that AVB stuck with us much better having him in our side rather than in someone else's that we have to play. Hopefully 2021 will be a better year for Vanders and us.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree DZ many of us rate him  plays hard and straight ahead  kind of player. One who plays his role for the team.

Yes l expect better from Vanders in 2021.

  6. I must admit Josh Mahoney has been involved with dealing for draft picks and improving our position in the national draft for a number of years now  and is getting better by the year.

31 for Preuss is a great get.  Well done Josh and co.

Agree with all of the above Trent Rivers burst onto the scene like Yze and Tingay, they just stand out from the crowd, natural footballer, skilled has pace also tough & brave, what a pick up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

Trent Rivers, Kossie Pickett and Luke Jackson our 3 top picks  in 2019.

Three fine picks .    FD did their homework on this one.

So I’m going to throw out a hypothetical situation just for curiosity’s sake. Tom isn’t getting huge amounts of interest on the table, gut feeling (lots to play out though) is that he will still be a Demon next year. Rather than be doom and gloom about it I’m going to come at it from a position of positivity.

Right now he’s working hard to shed kg’s and become leaner and more mobile, one thing I used to love about Tom was his elite fitness meant he could run his opponent into the ground. So let’s throw out the best case scenario:

We get Ben Brown and he’s the key forward we’ve been wanting for a while. TMac returns to some good form, Sam continues his upward trajectory, and Jacko just keeps being Jacko.

Thinking creatively are there ways to be able to play all four in the side? Are there previous Premiership winning clubs that have been able to manage that many tall forwards? Don’t want to hear people bagging Tom, we all know he’s been way off since the end of 2018 (I’m sure he would know better than we do).

Rotating off the bench 4th tall in line TMac can also help  playing from the wing and pinch hitting in the ruck. I wouldn't be entertaining playing more than  3 talls  at a time up forward. You would call that top heavy.  You need  crumbers. Game is too quick.

  9. Weid  turns 24 mid season in 2021 and really must start to deliver the goods.  Hopefully with Big Ben Brown  and  LJ  there  he might  be able to chip in and take more marks which will help the cause..  If the weid  plays his role  then maybe  the confidence will start to flow again.

Big Ben,  LJ and  Weid    a new era and exciting times ahead.

I agree he needs to develop his footy smarts. He has only played 18 games and has May and Lever on field to guide him and Jetts probably off field.  I think it's a long shot but would pay off big if he can make it because of his physical versatility.

I hope he does  however  IMO he needs a miracle the standard is too high for him to reach. He won't help us make finals.

I am sorry he just does not cut it.

I can see why the FD want him to succeed, he has the athleticism to play small or tall and aside from May is the only player I can think of that has the physical attributes to go with players like Dusty, Danger or Fyfe when they're forward.  Footy smarts no at this stage but physically yes - it's hard to find someone who can play this important role.

Really!  how can Joel go with Dusty, Danger or Fyfe  if he has no smarts?   Please !   Footy smarts never at any stage.

I am surprised,  l didn't expect those comments from you  of all people.  What are you thinking?    Brain freeze !

I went to all MCG games and a few away games in the early sixties

Gallus looked like a natural CHF from memory but like a lot of our big blokes in that era never really took off

After reading that story it’s great credit to him that he did as well as he did

Yes i saw him play a number of games at the  G In 1971 he played 20 games in his first year. a reasonably accurate kick for goal but his strength was his marking.  Played good game time  in the ruck as well. He stood out. Unfortunately  he spent time travelling to training from Drouin and it court up with him. Different set of circumstances those days.

I'm fine with keeping Baker on the list, but I'm not fine with relying on him to be our second winger. I also don't think we'll rely on him solely next year.

I don't think he is in our best 22 at the minute and i wasn't about to put him on a pedestal and I don't think his 2 snaps he kicked goals were flukes either although that being his best game  against GWS he played for us.

14 and 15 disposals in his last 2 games against GWS with 2 goals and Essendon.. Held his own.

He has still a way to go but he has a kick start from the last 3 games   and the way he played them. I watch with interest.

Oskar Baker has immense potential for such a role. His sense of space mixed with his speed and agility in close are tremendous assets so it is strongly hoped that he is intensively developed by the FD for such functionalities. Game time will be critical.

I think O Baker knows what is expected of him  now.  What he showed us in the few games  late in the season   that the potential is definitely there. He has upside.

I feel a bit sorry for Oscar he has played 81 games in mostly developing sides but I am not sure that he is in our top 22-26 players now.

Good luck Oscar what ever pans out for you..............!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was just  thinking the same only the other day. Not given much of a go and now that Lever and May had found good form Oscar wasn't given enough time for the 3 to work together. I still think he could play a role.

He certainly is out of favour if Joel gets a contract. I am scratching my head on that one.

  16. Love Hunty it a great signing for 2 years has a lot to offer. I find that he is  very underrated. I would love to see him play on the half back flank he would break the lines Pace to burn .  Well done l am happy for him and happy he signed.

  17. I rate Fritta he has been good enough without  setting the world on fire. He can play down back and hold his own. Has been predominantly playing forward and sometimes  as a key forward . For his size that makes him a valuable asset.

He knows his problem is his set shots for goal and has the preseason to rectify it. At 24 he is only going to get better.

  18. If Kossie can go up a level  by having a strong preseason that will definitely help the cause. l believe our forward line   will be better with him there in 2021 now that he knows what to expect.

Can bring others into the game with his speed, hardness and tackling. He will improve l have no doubt.

    He will dazzle the opposition.
