Add Jones and probably Viney to that as well.

If Watts goes, it's a club-wide decision. Seems pretty clear everyone has had enough. What's that saying about nice guys finishing last?

So JW is a nice guy? GOOD CALL.....but he hasn't finished  last. Work that one out.

Yes he did.  He dropped him.  You can spin it however you like, but he was still dropped due to poor form.  It's the same old chestnut every time.

And prove to us how Goodwin has 'degraded' him, which is such a ridiculous statement I don't even know why I am acknowledging it.

Then don"t if you are not sure.......... go find the papers on those days look it up learn before you have your big say.

    Ok just for fun

Players I rate ahead of JW (obviously this is my opinion and is subjective)

Hogan, Garlett, Pederson, VIney, Lewis, Oliver, T Mac, Gawn, Vince, Tyson, Tracc, Jetta, Hibbered, Jones, Hunt.

I believe these guys have offered more consistent team contributions then JW this year.

    Cheers

    OK

now Pederson is good but will he be a regular in Goodwins team if he has a lean period or plays just fair? Garlett played just fair when he had to be better in some of his games even though he had some personal issues.Tyson can lift and he has too and Hogan lets hope that  his head is clear.

You picked the 15 that you think in your opinion are better than JW l am sure he would then fit in your 22 .  I don't think that you are a critic of JW but if he leaves, I wonder if you would be happy when he does play well for someone else? Howerver he had a very good season or 2 under Roos, he didn't drop him when he had a lean period JW asked to be dropped and only for that one match and came back better. ROOS didn't degrade him like NEELD and GOODWIN had done.

What a load of speculative bs.

Jack Watts is no better then Jenkins or Lynch who both got no where near it yesterday, which was due to  the pressure, and because they couldn't win their own ball.. In fact I'd rate those 2 easily ahead of JW.

If as per prior years teams copy the Tigers and go for all out pressure - JW will continue to get no where near it. No point being a great kick if you can't get the ball.

Players come to and leave clubs every year.... JW is no different. There is no solid evidence who out of the MFC and JW decided to explore other options. Goodwin has said JW is welcome at the MFC and it's rumoured JW said he was getting kicked out.... So you're all speculating in accordance with your own agendas

A lot of the arguments here are emotional rubbish... JW would be lucky to be top 15 player at the club.

I am not going to get upset by a non top 15 player moving on

Your opinion on JW is hard. Name all the Melbourne players l mean all that are better prospects than JW.

    SEE AGRRES WITH YOU.

    He chatted all the time?

I've been to several training sessions and I've seen him go harder than Jones

    Obviously not this year....

I see what you mean however he did have his mind on the training track and for some reason at times l felt he was lairising.

We need him and has plenty to give.

I know we were linked to Rockliff last year. I think he would be a really good get and would only cost us salary cap. Saw that he can go forward as well as be a proficient mid. I know he is another inside mid but our inside game well and truly fell to [censored] when Viney, Tyson & Jones were injured. Maybe we are offloading Watts because we need that cap space for a few trade targets.

    Watts for Impey & 29

    10 & 29 for Lever

    2018 first & 27 for Gaff and 32

Rockliff 650-700k PA (watts salary + a bit more)

    B    Jetta Omac Salem

    HB Lever Frost Hibberd

    C    Hunt Jones gaff

    HF  Petracca tMac Rockliff

    FF  Garlett Hogan Impey

    FOL Gawn Viney Oliver

    BENCH Lewis Tyson Brayshaw Melksham.

In: Lever, Gaff, Rockliff & pick 32

    OUT: Watts, pick 10, 29 & 2018 first

There could be other smaller deals done too eg Balic coming in as depth.

    One can dream I guess..

SORRY but you are dreaming hard like a Snow white. Ask Goodwin what he thinks??????????

Mates into me last night about Wattsy trade.

Hawks and Pies supporters happy to take him for 2nd rounder 23 / 24 pick.

Bombers supporter said a definite yes to pick 28.

Seems many others happy to take a 150 game, 27yo agile 6’4 forward, skilled with excellent goal kicking.  Can play spare back or ruck roles.

Pray that he decides to stay instead.

All this talk about trading players so I've gone through and given each player on our senior list a theoretical open market trade value using draft picks as the measurement.

These values are based on output so far, potential and my subjective valuation.

Hogan - Early first round and mid to late second round

    Jones - Late first round

    Salem - Early second round

Watts - Mid to late second round

Petracca - Early first round and mid to late first round

    Lewis - Late fourth round

Viney - Early first round and early second round

    Brayshaw - Early second round

Gawn - Early first round and mid to late second round

    Tyson -  Early third round

Oliver - Early first round and early first round

    Hibberd - Early first round

    Stretch - Late fourth round

    Kent - Late fifth round

Frost  - Mid to late second round

Melksham  - Mid to late second round

Hannan  - Mid to late second round

    Garland - Late fifth round

    Pedersen - Early third round

    vandenBerg - Early fourth round

    Vince - Late fourth round

    Kennedy-Harris - Early fourth round

    T. McDonald - Mid first round and late second round

Weideman - Mid to late second round

    O. McDonald - Mid to late second round

    Hunt  - Early first round

Neal-Bullen - Mid to late second round

    Bugg  - Late fourth round

    King - Late fifth round

    Kennedy - Late fifth round

Jetta - Mid to late first round and mid to late second round

    McKenna - Late fifth round

    Wagner - Late fourth round

Well done with the ratings. the only one that l rate higher is Wagner late second round. i expect he will improve.

    You know your DEMON STUFF.

    Watts should not be traded.

Popular clubman.  Loves the Dees. Loyal through tough times.

6’5 forward. Agile. Skilled.  Averages 1.7 goals 6 marks 16 disposals 3 tackles.

Kicked the winner v Pies in QB game.

NEELD CRUCIFIED WATTS  AND GOODWIN HASN'T HELPED HIS CASE BY not picking him in the practice games  at the start of the season . However Goodwin  went one better and dropped him for poor form when there were worse players than Watts. now he doesn't want him????????????????? Could not help but think that this drama is not going to help our team morale. hmmmmmmm.

Lever and ... ? Do you still think Gaff?

We still have to satisfy both clubs. I can't see, the way things stand at the moment, how we can satisfy both clubs.

If we can get pick 6 for Watts & pick 10, we might be able to add it to a third rounder for Lever and save a second rounder. But a mid-second-rounder won't be enough for Gaff, and apart from Hogan, I can't see who we've got that WCE would want. Kent and a second rounder is unders for Gaff.

If you wait one more year we can l presume get Gaff for much less,a high 2nd round pick l think. iTS WORTH THE WAIT.

Huh ? I think you need to read his posts again, RPFC has not criticised Watts, more the opposite

Maybe l misread it. However the day comes that Jack does leave, the Watts critics will regret it and the simple minded ones that bag him constantly won't know what to do with themselves.

You have got to be kidding about that Roos part.

Where would we be without him coming on board? Talk about changing the culture... Goodwin is riding Roos' coattails.

Can't help but read your comments  about Jack Watts how overrated you think he is ???????????? HMMMMMM

Obviously you don't go to games or maybe you listen to the Watts critics. Grumpy o m.

I have heard very similar things about Watts for the majority of the second half of this season.

My source is third hand so have not posted previously. However putting it together with what you have heard makes me think there's something in it.

Watts is old news now , he has been on on the trade table  since the early days at Melbourne. More since Neeld  almost stuffed his career. Get over it he won't leave . You just have to put up with it.

  16. Hey Lampers

    I see your point.

Lets wait after the Finals to see if Lever crosses the Border. Its a nice romance. l would like to see Frosty given a fair go and be happy to  watch him tuck the ball under his arm and run the opposition ragged and bust the lines. I believe he is hard done.

Watching with anticipation to see Lever play at the G this Saturday and to find out his worth. Lets see if his worth the first two round picks that many say but for me Lever is overvalued.

I hope he proves me wrong.

  17. 15 hours ago, Lampers said:

Let's stress I have no genuine inside knowledge, this is all from reading signs and likely misinterpreting!

I see a player like Watts, although the best kick and decision maker in the team, as having some flaws that Goodwin may consider fatal. Lack of physical presence or intensity being the main ones. Salem in a similar boat.

Tyson is more the case of having an over supply in what he brings to the table, or adequate substitutes waiting in the wings.

All of them have qualities attractive enough that other clubs will definitely be interested.

I see those as the type of players that if they could secure a pick between 15-25, and if Melbourne know that's the type of asset that gets a Lever trade completed, they will pull the trigger. You have to give something up of value to make the team better.

But I wouldn't see any of them being offloaded for a pick in the 20s or 30s as a stand alone event. That's because you'd be giving up a flawed but valuable commodity for a lottery pick. The only reason I could see something like that happening would be if Melbourne were in the position Adelaide were with Vince - desperately needing to get some more youth onto the list, so trade a talented but flawed late 20s aged player to do it. And Melbourne don't have an ageing list problem to solve.

  18. 3 hours ago, Lampers said:

If I was Melbourne's list manager Tyson is someone I'd look at as a possibility to trade - but only to facilitate getting someone else in. Agree that you wouldn't move him on for a 3rd rounder with the only scenario you'd do that being for salary cap relief.

He is a quality player with some very good skills, but he is slow of foot and his disposal can be very inconsistent.

So the question I'd ask is how much is lost by trading Tyson out and having Maynard in his place? Or ANB moving into Tyson's midfield slot? think that's a downgrade, but if that downgrade was the difference that enabled a Lever or Gaff/Isaac Smith type to come to the club I think the team would be stronger overall.

If Melbourne are serious, and I'm sure they are, there is a high probability there will be  casualties of popular players like Tyson and Watts making way.

Jones late second round third round, he isn't worth a first round pick 30-40 range

    Hey Lampers,

What is it with Watts that you think could be one of the trades for Lever ?  If we get Lever and he is not over the line in any stretch of imagination, it will be for a first round and a pick maybe a third round. don't listen to all the other cats out there .
