  1. It's hard to think of a more accomplished guy to take the gig. Yeah this co-captain thing is a bust as far as I'm concerned.
  2. Trac looks so much better in the middle! He was generally good today.
  3. Red But Mostly Blue posted a post in a topic in Melbourne Demons
As part of a fresh 2020 campaign (following a solid, injury-free preseason, smart recruitment, delistings, and devising an ACTUAL gameplan), we need a new captain. One, not two. And preferably not Viney. I like him, but he's been off the boil for a long time, and Jones won't/shouldn't be around much longer. We need leadership. We need goals kicked when they count, tackles that can't be broken, and vision. We need somebody to lead the group, and show the rest that there is a standard and it won't be compromised. Who do give the role to? I think Maxxy would be great, but I also worry that it might be too distracting for him, he already does so much.

  5. The only current upside (for me) is that my son is only 8 weeks old, so he can't fully appreciate how bad we are right now, or what I've done to him by preparing him for life as a Dee. He watched today's game on my lap and fell asleep. Smart kid (chose not to watch, and also got some much needed shuteye).
  6. Even better, bottom 4 is generous. If the Blues beat the dogs, and the Suns beat the Saints next week (both very possible)... We'll be dead last.
  7. Preuss up forward would be great. He's tall, he presents, and he'll crash and bash, perfect. Also really dug Lever, May out back. Maxxy was 20 feet tall out there. Sorry about your neighbours out there, it's a real shame. The cycle is the worst bit.
  8. I agree, I think we should be in full 2020 mode. Even if we try a few things and fail, we can't do much worse than we already have. We might even learn some things for next year! And we can do it with no risk.
  9. Between both of your suggestions, we have a perfect club and we're ready for a tilt at the flag! I'm excited!
  10. If you were earning as much as they are, with no repercussion, you would too! Haha ☹️
  11. ...With this year well and truly done (just for laughs, if the Blues and Suns win next week, we'll be dead last), I really hope the club now just narrows its focus to 2020, with nothing escaping the microscope - off season prep, Goody and our dumb football, player's positions, captains, who should and shouldn't be there etc. Today's positives: I liked Hannan and Hunt up forward again. Weid looked great, yeah his kicking wasn't great but he looked more confident. Imagine if he gets decent delivery! May, Lever and Hore will get better out back. Will be pretty sweet with Hibbo and Salem doing their thing. Can't ask much more from Maxxy either.
  12. Great forward movement (by the Pies)
  13. Hannan makes such a difference in our forward structure, and things can only get better as he gets more time on ground.
  14. Totally agree, it's criminal that he doesn't get anywhere near as much game time as he should because the I50 delivery is atrocious.
  15. The worst thing about it is that Goody doesn't even know that he's been found out. So he's ignorantly plodding along, blaming everything on injuries (only partly responsible), connection etc, so he doesn't work on his gameplan, or bring someone in with some footy IQ.
  16. I was thinking the same thing after the Blues win. I can't even say with any confidence that we will win when we play them.
  17. No bueno.
  18. I largely agree with this, but it doesn't explain the dumb football (the constant bombing into the forward line, time after time after time after time, after time, the lack of dimension to our game plan, in that we didn't have a plan B in any of our games, if you ever accepted we ever had a plan A). Our football IQ dropped big time over the break and nobody has explained why. That said, the return of some of our more important players will have a huge impact, as will a better preseason for 2020.
  19. Completely agree. It's like we forget how average/poor he was in between stints due to the length of time between those stints. When he got injured, I read in the Sun that we had lost a 'silky midfielder'!!? Crazy stuff. Won't miss him when he's eventually delisted. I'd love for a trade but I doubt there'll be much value.
  20. OMac and JKH out... ... Now we're getting somewhere! It'll take time to gel, but man it's gonna be sweet seeing Lever and May repelling everything that comes their way (hoping that our mids do more running to prevent that), and with Hibbo/Salem rebounding, together with new gun Hore helping out with intercepts.
  21. Late response to this, but I just wanted to say that I agree with you. I'm actually really happy he's been re-signed. He sounds relieved, so hopefully it leads to better footy. However, my point still stands. Many of the other guys that missed (that each should have kicked the goal), are earning big bucks, but they have largely all proven their worth. Weid has not, which means he doesn't get to ask for big bucks until he does. And that means kicking goals straight out in front, which is meat and potatoes stuff for a KPF. But like I said, I'm hoping the contract leads to some good footy because I think he's capable.
  22. Ladies and gentlemen, the Melbourne Football Club. How much is Weid asking for again?
  23. This is where Weid can start to make his claim.
  24. OH MY GOD WILL SOMEONE IN THIS CLUB STAND UP, GROW A PAIR AND KICK A GOAL?
  25. Maybe we'll win this by fluffing chances and kicking a million points?
