Hatred for Collingwood!
Howās thisā¦ Basically my entire family barrack for Collingwood. Both parents, and three of my five siblings. Iām the youngest of six, and the next up from me is my sister. Sheās the only girl in the family and wanted to set herself apart from the boys, so she chose the Demons, then got the word into me when I was a kid. One of my other brothers supports a different team though... Geelong. Every time the Pies beat us I can feel all the ties that bind unravel. I see my lovely parents suddenly as toothless and my brothers all look like Joffa. Thankfully it doesnāt last too long.

Farewell Brodie Grundy
I love our captain, but the less I have to watch him line up for set shots on goal, the longer my marriage will last.

Mason Cox
Heās far from a household name, but maybe my favourite living satirist. Hard to get past āIām Alan Partridgeā as my favourite thing heās done.

A Day In The Life Of A Demonland Thread
Wonder what Saty would make of all this.

Both shows created by the same person (Armando Iannuci). You might enjoy it.

Patrick Cripps FREE to play
Well, thatās just a matter of taste. I personally find them a little on the objectionable side. (sorry, Iāll just get my coatā¦)

Patrick Cripps FREE to play
@Demonstone Your response-time to a grammar infringement is quicker than the actual police.

Patrick Cripps FREE to play
If itās 12 nights post concussion then heās good to go. But not sure if it is.

Patrick Cripps FREE to play
I feel subconsciously attacked. š I think itās pretty natural to be interested in outcomes such as these. And Iāll go a step further and say I hope Cripps doesnāt play because itās merely to our advantage. I donāt see whatās wrong in hoping for any kind of advantage, however they may present themselves.

Patrick Cripps FREE to play
Thereās no way heāll get off without suspension. Ah Chee was concussed, and if thereās one thing the AFL doesnāt want to be seen being flippant about anymore itās concussion. Ah Chee will miss a match next week, but Cripps gets to play? Absolutely no way.

CHANGES: Rd 22 vs Carlton
There was no problem bringing the ball to ground (I love this term for ādropping marksā) on Friday, and rarely were Pickett or Spargo to be found.

CHANGES: Rd 22 vs Carlton
Would love to drop Kozzie, but it seems heās rusted on. Itās getting to the stage for me where his gold-star cameos just donāt stack up against the amount of times he goes missing. And will Goodwin stick by ABN for next week? Probably, but bugger me, heāll be lucky. Sparrow likely to get a rest. Gawn needs to spend the summer practicing set shots. He has the yips now, and theyāll be hanging around during the finals, no doubt. Love his safe hands, but we need players running past him to take the shots on goal from now on. Fritsch needs to be the target, not the one outstretched hand of BBB. But Fritsch needs to frigginā PRESENT. He is useless to everybody when he lurks at the back of a pack. Letās get JVR on the ground next week.

POSTGAME: Rd 21 vs Collingwood
The amount of times our forwards (and Max) would fly in clusters towards the hail-mary deliveries coming at them, only to apply pressure on each other and inevitably bring the ball to ground toā¦.nobody, was maddening. Our small forwards went missing tonight.

Collingwood - One trick pony
Which has reached the point where interviews with players/coaches are pointless exercises in nothing-speak. If it does genuinely motivate Collingwood players (50% of whom would be unaware what the term āOne Trick Ponyā even means), then it also would motivate the Demons just as much to back it up. But I donāt think it means anywhere near as much to either teamās players as it does to the peanut gallery.

Collingwood - One trick pony
Read my previous post, and the reactions of Collingwood fans. They donāt give a toss, and some are even all for it. Honestly the pearl-clutching going on from some here is a bit much. Whatās even more bizarre is the suggestion it will have any impact on the match whatsoever. The idea that this will āfire upā the opposition? I mean, it might fire up the Campbellās Creek Magpies but in a league as drilled, honed and already-fired-up as the AFL, such a polite bit of banter wonāt touch the sides.

Collingwood - One trick pony
Donāt judge me, but I follow the /AFL sub on Reddit pretty regularly. Iāve found itās a great way to gauge the general mood of other clubs, and it seems to be a lot less Boofhead-oriented than Big Footy and the like. Edās story is blowing up right now over there, and itās interesting to note that a lot of people - including many Collingwood supporters - are saying how much they love the banter.

Demonstone's and Flaubert's English Grammar for Demonlanders 101
Iād agree with all of that except the last sentence. Itās not a Boomer Vs Millennial thing, itās simply Ideology Vs Ideology. Plenty of Boomers hold the views of one side or the other. Perhaps itās not quite as divided in the Millennial camp, but to suggest all of them have a shared set of beliefs and ethics is a stretch. Plus what about us Gen X-ers?!

Indeed it is. Another word in that sentence is āsentenceā.

CHANGES: Rd 21 vs Collingwood
Yeah, Iām not shocked by the pollās results for those reasons exactly. But seeing it laid bare like that, itās very clear that tomorrow night is our chance to shake one of our last remaining hoodoos, and considerably skew the psychological landscape of these finals. A loss will be more damaging than usual.

CHANGES: Rd 21 vs Collingwood
Just saw stumbled across this poll. We need to smash Collingwood tomorrow night. Not scrape in. Not win āconvincinglyā or even ācomfortablyā. We need to SMASH them. Even with a GF under our belt, I feel we still have seriously unfinished business with respect to the Pies (no actual respect intended). Their supporters simply donāt rate us, and they have their reasons. This needs to change tomorrow night. Letās go, Demons.

Demonstone's and Flaubert's English Grammar for Demonlanders 101
I see. So what is the term for a word such as āwokeā? Where a word is commonly-understood to be āincorrectā, but forges on regardless to become part of the lexicon? Is that just another malapropism? Seems like such a thing deserves itās own term.

Demonstone's and Flaubert's English Grammar for Demonlanders 101
Isnāt a malapropism a knowingly-incorrect usage of a word or term (as opposed to an ignorant one)? Or are you saying that thereās nothing āknowingā about it?
