I'm guilty of thinking every game of his was going to be like his round 1 performance against the dogs.

(This probably has its own thread somewhere) I hate to say it but I'm really not enjoying the Gawn Grundy setup. Both are average forwards at best, so when one is in the ruck, you have a pretty useless player to stick somewhere. Gawn's impact on games has gone through the floor, and I don't think Grundy has picked up the slack. I don't think the team or either player is best served by having two specialist rucks in the team. Doubt Grundy will ever be dropped, but I'd love to see JVR pinch hitting and having Max playing the same ruck minutes as he always has. Feel like he's a wasted resource at the moment. Just my opinion.

Suspect umpiring in the last. Petracca in the back, Viney not in the back, Brayshaw being hung onto when they got that last clearance. Almost like they wanted it to go down to the wire. Shouldn't have been that close anyway. Good win!

Four seasons in one day. I've spent enough time in Melbourne to know it is very similar, just colder, but not outrageously so (very often). Although anyone who went to the North Melbourne vs Richmond Friday night game at Blundstone a few years back will know how cold it can get. Coldest I've ever been in my life. But as dear old mum says, there's no such thing as being too cold, you're just inappropriately dressed.

This gets spoken about a lot. The vast majority of people I have spoken to will stick with their original team, but buy memberships and support the Tas team against any opposition apart from their team. I am in this boat as well, after so many years supporting the Demons it would be impossible to just drop that and change teams, even though I could see the home ground from my house. I suspect the amount of members will come as a surprise, people will jump on board regardless if Tassie are their no. 1 team or not. I have been loving @Ouch!'s content in this thread, his sentiments are very similar to mine and most of the people I know. Couple of points regarding the go home factor and the weather. Hobart isn't the backwater it once was and is still perceived to be by many. The go home factor will be there but no more than anywhere else, there is plenty on offer for people of any age, and Melbourne is an hour away if you want to go and visit family. Not every AFL draftee is from the big cities, and to brush off Hobart as a terrible destination for a young bloke is outdated and misguidedly superior. Yes, it won't be for everyone, but neither is Melbourne, or Sydney. I think the lifestyle in Hobart will suit plenty enough people to make the go home factor a non-issue. Hobart weather is that similar to Melbourne it's not funny, just slightly cooler. We get a few extreme cold nights/mornings but it's not like it's a different planet. if it was that much of a concern then players would be leaving the Melbourne clubs in droves to go to GC, GWS etc etc. Grassroots footy in Tas has been dying for a long time, I hope this announcement can turn things around before we are no longer an AFL state but a soccer/basketball state instead.

I'm pre Robbie Flower but he is comfortably the best MFC player I have seen.

Collingwood have consistently won despite losing all the usual statistical categories that winning teams usually win. Contested possession, clearance and inside 50s to name a few. They don't fit the premiership model but it doesn't seem to bother them and they keep winning. Definitely a threat.
