Chandler has talents, no doubt - but I'd like to see him come into the seniors as a raging bull type of player with more confidence and aggro. More developmental opportunities (as pathways to resultant success) could produce a player in the mould of Leigh Matthews (at least along those lines of talent) as our current smalls lack grunt and to some extent, bravery.
-
Hunt promoted, JVR and Laurie step up to the big time, perhaps think of Rivers getting a run to replace Clarry as he is good on the ground pick-ups and has conditioned knowledge of the seniors' game plan. We have the space of the season (sitting Second on the ladder) to give it a try - win or lose - so we must stop thinking about getting back to No. 1 on the ladder, anyway.

When you find out how to stream it, let me know ... same problem!

been out of the loop for a few weeks, re-locating back to Victoria. Where can we watch this match?

Evil sentiment does exist - directed at MFC and our surprising, recent successes. Sells more copies to those needing a newspaper columnist to sort out opinions. Perhaps Trump, amazingly, was correct; fake news is in abundance.

What They Are Saying at Moorabool Street

Geelong will be exhausted, exposed and much slower at the ball in the last half of the second quarter, getting more incapable of stopping the Dees all over the ground and by the fourth quarter, most of the Geelong players will be able to statically watch how it is done. If you're going to the game, take some carrots - bunnies love 'em. -
... and leave the forward line static in injury-affected selection moments - far too conservative for modern football, too often. Yes, we have discussed this option far and wide on this board and the prominent potential that exists with Petty is plainly that his game has gone impressively well, improving match by match due mainly to his skills depths; albeit strong in the backline - yet we have regularly noted that at earlier times of less experience within a spattering of opportunities at selection and placement - Petty has done particularly well as a forward free from timidity (Weidemann) and bodily limitations (TMac, BBB, the other Brown) and learns his role very quickly, capably and presents a genuine threat to opposition arrogance.
-
Agreed, but I gave him two years until the end of that bumpy road. Golly, it's good to consider on his current form a few more years than that ahead of him. What and energy-draining test it was against Brizzy! Flying colours come to mind on the quality of his efforts and results.

Our losses so far this season were not losses to the Demons, these games were losses against the 'Mighty Makeshifts', cruelled by injuries and exhaustion. The Mighty Demons have returned!

Think Hardeman.

Another message to Ben Brown: run for the whole match, finding space and hold 'em - kick long and straight, lose opponents; otherwise, prepare to play with Casey for as long as you can.
-
He is a great player - yet he is very predictable, too - if we had another two seasons to 'blood' him he could be one of the greats. However, if he goes for the money elsewhere, fairy 'Nuff. A young man needs to take his opportunities. I am just worried about his loyalty to the MFC; Daisy stayed for example, amongst enormous odds and Jackson just ain't quite in the same league. A demonstration of acute loyalty to the Dees would be first steps towards immortality on the footy field for Jackson. I hope he realises that possibility.
-
Correct, but watch the umpires; at many opportunities for more rapid progress out of the backline, the umps permit delays invoked by opposition teams (of the many that are attempted) and are quick to invoke further delays and uncertainties should the Mighty Dees get the ball out of the danger zone quickly and appear to be well set-up to progress to score at a rapid rate. Across this season there have been many such examples and enormous disappointments. Opposition numbers and zones are treated to adequate time to get their desired possies, creating 'assisted' defensive zones and even separations to advantage away from the ball itself.
-
These are not flattering statistics for Brown. Watching him play (with hope and reducing expectations), he seems to be the epitome of a 'lazy' player - one who is also scared of stopping opposition backmen with something as simple as a tackle. According to many observers, if he wishes to keep playing then it is past the perfect moment for him to enthusiastically improve.

Nice summary of the ills of our game. -

Agree with this observation. It almost appears to be irresponsible, at times. -
All eyes on the target - a report would help after this match.

What They Are Saying at Springfield

Stop it! I keep getting pleasant visions of Kevin Murray! Teeth out! -
...and there is not a great deal that can be said..

No, it's not. It is punctuation. Correct grammar is terrific. Proper grammar is variable; it depends on who is using the grammar with merely a plum in the mouth.

The Road Back to Success -June 2022
Deemania since 56 replied to spirit of norm smith's topic in Melbourne Demons
The key for us is to demonstrate adaptability in our game plans and strategies - surely we have had adequate insights into what is going wrong in the application of our now 'mundane' game intents. The variations that are now required against oppositions who have analysed and exploited our weaker points are clear, and have been addressed by Demonlanders (above) quite well. It is again up to the coaching staff to re-ignite the team, man by man, to add variance to set plays, set connections, set team back-ups where we truly can be seen to play for one another. Pressure means that we rush. Such rush is not pace, it is last-resort efforts - often ineffective. The only way to address pressure on the footy field is to apply greater pressure on the opposition, more frequently, more collaboratively and more sustainably. These are the three things that have knocked us rotten in several games this year. Surely, it is our turn to fight back? -
He obviously has some real footy smarts, young Jordan, and real footy skills. I am sure his distribution of foot-passing will adjust to improved performances as his game-time experience increases.
-
You mean that the team puppeteers have not yet examined the back of Gawny's head for mushy dents, corrugations, internal bleedings and bruising, aneurisms? They certainly should and then forward the results to the administrative 'experts' at the AFL to see if the sources of such trauma can be eliminated, reduced, acknowledged, prevented - including the mandatory eyesight testing of field umpires!
-
That is really laying the matter of 'form' to the test; perhaps, Jackson can assist up there; perhaps not. Worth a try but it will affect our rucking strengths enormously now that Gawny seems to be waylaid for a few weeks with his ankle issue. Daw and Joel Smith would be my preference but I also reckon that is my opinion only, not that of one other person. TMac will be resuming soon so perhaps, forwards leading for the ball is not a figment of the imagination. BBB has a real load to consider, adopt and deliver in all matches to come.
-
His head, particularly the back of the head, must be mushy by now. Every game, he cops a half dozen straight jabs and flung elbows without umpires noticing - he is more than a martyr for us.
