  1. It's a bit more than the hair for me - moves onfield like Jacko and his agility could well develop into noticeable opportunities upfield (HFFlk) - reminds me of a young (but larger) Nathan Jones with a reliable kick when free.
  2. l would not be surprised if our frontal assault for Reid is a smokescreen. Duursma and Tholstrup
  3. A player available at pick 6 is not the leader of the draft pack. There is a reason for this, most likely. It is because that player is still on a learning curve, albeit a reliably skilled fella in comparison to a pack leader who is further advanced currently and who, perhaps, has less to learn/develop at the tender age of recruits. To my thinking, any one player coming into the Mighty Demons team(s) and procedures has a great many Club adjustments, systems, methods, personnel (etc) to still learn (ie: not yet a largely finished product) ready for the game plan, particularly if alternative plans are to be made available within a team that has traditionally been rather pedestrian in its on-field options in recent seasons. That No. 6 new player would realise these learnings and adjustments, and be more driven to achieve new demands than one who alternatively could assume changes as automatic, relying of past successes to 'get him through to the truly reliability stage' in the big time. Some 'kids' develop great skills; other 'kids' do the same but overlapping this development with great parenting provides exceptional skills and enhanced readiness.
  4. Correct. The main 'team' flaw' - forward penetration and maintaining the possession thereof. Our wingers do need to lift and perhaps, take a few marks of their own in the process of two-way movement.
  5. It is a great sadness, for us all. His struggle has been long and taxing.
  6. ...provided the pay is appropriate...
  7. It was just recently that Lachie Neale was adamant to stay in his current location after longer-term deliberations that he would. Change is waiting for notification.

I fancy Watson coming out of the midfield - if his speed is good - as his recoveries are impressive; it would still allow him to come forward (eyes up) on occasion for some great disposals and even for those cameo, deep-forward tricks that have been his imprint on footy so far. Did we note his handballing expertise? Perhaps, memory flashes of Greg Wells come to mind, playing out of the centre and into the width and depth of the forward line with disposal excellence, discouraging the long-bomb syndrome. This is how I would have liked to see Oliver and Tracca used more frequently over the recent past - with whom he would combo rather well - should our Coach see its relevance to improve our game, all game. Remember '...bang, bang, bang. Bang.' ? That novel approach won us a GF.
  9. Let's not forget the improving JSmith in equations for forward line coherence and skills. He could well take another forward step from his opportunities.
  10. He does seem to be like Vardy was but also, he's got traits that are similar to Charlie Cameron - let's hope he is half as good. Statistics seem to indicate some abilities in this regard, so the Choco finishing school for wayward innocents will be important.
  11. That's two who lead for the ball. Both excellent kicks.
  12. More than depth as previously surmised. McAdam is a spaceman, leading quickly forward, across multiple angles. He has pace - keeps the ball in sight and leads opponents to that ball with pace and good anticipation. He has some good goal-shooting skills and is strong in the set shots. I really like his skip-in, skip-away with the ball in possession at pace. Should balance well with the talls, with midfielders looking for his leads, with teamed efforts with the likes of Chandler, Fritta and Petty. Could be dangerous against most AFL opponents. Could well decoy for most of the key forwards, as well (thinking JVR and Petty under a high-pressure defender.
  13. That may well be the key: a shrewd get, peaking slowly within a talent-ridden team at present. He can kick 'em, too - for a mobile big-'un. May well be a great sniff for us so therefore, some heavy pre-season training and development might just round him out.
  14. Is this young man any relation to the (Jamie?) Duursma who played for the Dees so many years ago?
  15. Our 'system' that is 'different' is guaranteed to stifle and crowd our scoring opportunities (as evidenced week in, week out); it is only through spacemakers, space exploiters, space finders merging with intent from the forward line feeders that we will nail goals, more frequently, more unexpectedly, more comprehensively, more accurately. Bang, bang, bang. Bang.
  16. Hopefully so.
  17. To my eye, he looks unavailable - he has cult status at the Filth, already - but also, I think he needs far more discipline in his gameplay and teamplay that perhaps, possibly, against the odds, the MFC coaching team may be able to provide, moulding him into a true, team-based forward asset.
  18. They are not called 'The Filth' for nothing. Stuff 'em full of their staple diet - deep fried dim sims - if you'd ever seen them eat, there ain't no time for breathing and thus, no capacity to 'boo' our Gus.
  19. Surely Goody is going to have a tonne of 'learnings' to impart to the gathered masses?
  20. B. Vagg, could pull a special when the whole team was in a dire position in the last quarter. Great player.
  21. Probably got paid a couple of grand for stirring the pot in a media quiet time where facts are actually fanciful but surprisingly profitable for newspaper copy and advertised, tv-viewer scrutiny. Vast observation by the public almost convincingly makes facts from fiction.
  22. For the powerful clubs, contracts mean little. We are not yet a power club. Just the same, the loss of Clarrie would be the greatest mistake of the MFC since the loss of Ronald Dale in the mid-60s. To even consider it would be sacrilege.
  23. Falling on top of the ball in scrums with a teammate lowering himself as well to hide the drawing of the ball back under the body.
