  1. I've been pondering the choice re Trac. 3 people have the convo. Trac, Goodwin, and the Doc... Who has most leverage if Trac is saying 'Nah mate, I'll be fine!'
  2. Morning! I chose not to take him. Somewhat happy with the choice. I hear your sentiment re: the wrestle. Maybe he's not wrestling, maybe he has made his mind up and his manager is aware (and potentially key personnel in the club) just not the public . For me, I just don't think we can clearly link off field occurrences such as this, (as in his not permanently in his head about it) and his form line. I also think the modern athlete has evolved. Just like the hypothetical of Yze potentially coaching elsewhere... it's not a statement of not being committed to the current club. He can still do his job in the present moment (whilst contractually employed), whilst having alternate things on the horizon for the following year. And the up and down form (Yze or Jackson) is correlational not causational 🤙 **Maybe Rivers is off the boil a bit because he is mates with LJ and they both want to go to Freo on the basis of last nights result🤷‍♂️😀
  3. Round 11 (+5) = 910 - 135 Matches Played P Cripps = 1000 Clearances - 144 Matches Played =90 / 9 = 10 per match to equal. drifting, drifting...
  4. How is the 'situation' impacting his form?
  5. It's a good point. I look at it like this. Rightly or wrongly the FD (and we all can do this exercise) would assume a certain number of losses for the year is appropriate. Let's make it 4-6 for the sake of the exercise. Within this scope, there is still a need to have the players physiologically and psychologically exposed to (and increasing their physiological and psychological capacity) fatigue, niggles etc that come with the nature of playing the sport relentlessly for 6 months. Their bodies are monitored (cortisol sampling for example) and where appropriate, players will be rested. I think it's a myth to assume that 'no matter what' a player will not be rested. *** However... If the team members have brought into this philosophy as they can see it serves a useful purpose come finals times... then players WILL play whilst not 100%- where there is an assumed loss that can be tolerated. (For me, today is one of them). Mind you, I'd love to be privvy to the convo re: Petracca before todays match. ***Cricket Australia did a u-turn 15-10 years ago in managing fast bowlers and their back stressors/fractures. Historically best practice was to rest... now it's (within reason physiologically) keep going, keep exposing (again both physiologically and psychologically) ****the body doesn't wear out, it wears in. If you want a deep dive, go from the 20 minute mark. (pain = fatigue)
  6. For mine this loss is mostly about the inability to plug the holes in game, of (in no particular order) a) May b) Petty (injured in game) c) Langdon d) a 20% Petracca e) TMac *other notes... the team looked cooked. From the first quarter. Not from an attitude perspective. Just physically. (Oliver, Viney, Gawn looked, well, just tired, almost like a bug had gone through the team. *pretty hard to retain structure when May and Petty are off (or severely limited). Lever is but one bloke.
  7. I'm catching a supporters bus up from the coast. In two minds to take my 6yo, leave at 1.45 - home by 10.30. Big day and I don't know who'll be more emotional! 😀
  8. Full of sense. and as Bruce would suggest, 'delicious'.
  9. I'll be blunt. If you need confidence to play well, you have a problem. When you're under constant scrutiny, (your coach, your peers, yourself) if you need confidence, you'll struggle to be consistent. Exhibit 1. Sam.W...... (seems like a lovely bloke though).
  10. pfft... on the verge.😇 We ARE existing as special already my dear friend... it just gets specialer. (leave it @Demonstone)
  11. Good to get a grounding.... https://www.aflnt.com.au/sites/default/files/uploads/NT AFL Team Scoping Report.pdf
  12. What's the issue with what he sees as an injustice?
  13. How amazingly obscure. What took you there?
  14. @WheeloRatings what's your take on Carlton's ladder position vs ranking?
  15. Which Teams Are Good :Squiggle "Power Rankings measure team strength at a point in time. They ignore the fixture, home ground advantage, and all the other factors that go into predicting the outcome of a match or a season. Instead, they’re a simple answer to Rory’s question: Which teams are actually good?" ** I only rate this metric, due to where we are rated 🤷‍♂️
  16. And then Kate Roffey shouldn't be the incumbent... And then Jason Taylor should have picked Charlie Curnow... And then, why did we recruit Jake Lever when we still could have had Oscar....
  17. I went for a walk Sunday evening, with a staunch Collingwood supporter and his daughter around our local lake, she thankfully, is a passionate Melbourne supporter. For context, she is a neurodiverse (new language for autism) 10yo. One of her 'superpowers' is facts about the Melbourne football club... as we walked around the lake, she passionately responding to my questions with forensic detail. Eg: Listing of Bailey Fritsch's goals and points from Q1 to Q4 in the GF, who else wore his number in the 50's and 60's, what was the score for the match in 2019 Round 3. and on and on and on.... it's amazing stuff. We got on to her favourite players, she quite likes Sam Weideman, although she did state she couldn't understand why on earth his nickname is 'Choofa' .... Her Dad and I just glanced at each other... and I gently moved the conversation on to the pure awesomeness of Clarry.... bless her cotton socks. 😇 FWIW even my mate as a Collingwood supporter, would be reluctant to take on Sam...
  18. Too complex and nuanced for me mate. As Pauline once said …”please explain?”
  19. Interestingly I watched the Brisbane game, and I can't recall the commentator. They said - "He's a joy to watch, Lachie Neale, on his way to another brownlow" - I thought, is this stuff preordained?
  20. "We just want him to be the best he can be" 😇
  21. Does he still get ridiculed for not being able to kick over a jam tin? #spargomyths
  22. I'm not going to join the pile on of your view points... And, what's your take on Brisbane losing and thus their chances against us, as well as perhaps Freo, considering where the game is at currently.
  23. Great work with all the effort you put into this. This thread is a bit like ANB (I'll let you draw your own conclusions!) 🤩
  24. Round 10 (+13) = 905 - 134 Matches Played P Cripps = 1000 Clearances - 144 Matches Played =95 / 10 = 9.5 per match to equal.
