  1. Couldn't agree more- I think the public place to much meaning on what it means to be captain in this day and age - he has had his tenure, as far as anyone knows, he is self-reflective enough to be open to sharing the load, so he can get on with playing, rather than holding onto being [censored] off and being distracted and non motivated to play at his peak...
  2. Ahh, the beauty of a hypothetical - its pub talk LT - surely it's ok to ponder these things. Not that I am getting ahead with the current list - because, you know, I've [censored] lived the past 40 years also with the pain and the suffering... was the intensity because I didn't include Travis
  3. It is so nice to be genuinely excited again about the 'potential' of our list. Who would you keep, and who would you omit? I rekon there are only 9 in the 2000 that wouldn't be superseded, Yze, Green,Schwarz, Neitz, Roberston,White (now 2nd ruck) Farmer, Leoncelli (under rated) and S.Febey - and I wouldn't have Trapper. 26 Daniel Ward 27 Anthony Ingerson 44 Alistair Nicholson HB: 42 Peter Walsh 28 Matthew Collins 21 Steven Febey C: 13 Adem Yze 22 Shane Woewodin 35 Anthony McDonald HF: 18 Brad Green 5 David Schwarz 7 Stephen Powell F: 24 Russell Robertson 9 David Neitz (c) 33 Jeff Farmer Foll: 34 Jeff White 43 Guy Rigoni 36 Andrew Leoncelli Int: 4 Brent Grgic 16 Travis Johnstone 47 Ben Beams 46 Troy Simmonds and on a side note - Jeff Farmer kicked 76 that year...
  4. If you're in tight space and can wheel around like mitchell does - it's always a bonus to be able to execute - further - particularly in planning from the opposition to corral onto the non preferred and increase the likelihood of a turnover. Watched Daisy do it a few times last night, nice kicks, just didn't quite hit the targets running out into space.
  5. Correct. Turnovers under zero pressure. Limited run and dysfunction in the forward half. Stinear has his work cut out methinks...
  6. I remember how Akermanis mentioned this at his time at the Bulldogs - and thus how problematic it was for a gay man to therefore be willing to come out in the context of a football environment - he was incorrectly lambasted for it.
  7. I agree Billy, I don't fancy St Kilda to be as consistent as us this year - nor do I believe the ceiling of their players are as high as our list. Nonetheless - they can have as much hype as the media give them - its all irrelevant as they won't buy into it - and if they perform poorly - the media rewrites the script retrospectively - a la, the youth coming through Melbourne vs The tiges - circa 2010-2015 - each year there was a preseason write up and even direct comparisons and the HeraldSun chopped and change.
  8. I hope he (Salem) does, he is very silky - if he can be version 2.0 of Burgoyne - happy happy days.

  11. Yeah, it still sends shivers up my spine - and much like Demonland - trekking up from the Bellarine to Melbs - Laverton was a place to hang the head a little bit. Glad its not just me where it has been seared into my memory...
  12. I was just looking through the community cup and noticed the word Lavington - brought back a fair bit of sadness as a 13 yo - wondering whether anyone else knows what I'm referring to?
