  1. I can envisage many chinese or aussie expats, looking forlornly into the broth noodles wishing that 'star' Steven May would play, just so they could justify skiiving of from their home duties and go to the game.
  2. Yes he is... AND he still doesnt mind the odd 2-3 flying punches that fail to connect with the ball at all (even when it's a 2 on 1 in our favour)... I don't know if this happened at Adelaide (presumably) but it looks god awful when that happens...
  3. Montgomery a few years ago... may have been end of season perhaps.... philosophical/ego differences from Bevo.
  4. I for one am amazed at the type of player that he is. And by that, not amazed overall at how good he is, but I thought he would be a brute force, stay in the 50m arc, monster defender type of guy...my, he is far far more evolved than that. I was fortunate to watch him up at the GABBA and the bloke has wheels - and THEN he shifts into midfield to tackle a guy who was 4 steps ahead of him. He is explosive with his pace... It's a nice surprise to have a talent who fits in with how the modern game is played.
  5. I was abroad at the time... in what way was this the case?
  6. The judas goat...
  7. i invite you to look at Weidermans ruthlessness in drawing a player so Charlie Spargo has time to at least set up for a goal (irrespective of outcome).
  8. I'm going in to bat for a broader understanding of a 'role' - so this is not even about Weiderman per se. @Franky_31 in your opinion, why is Weiderman being carried? What Should the stats for a reliveing ruckman come forward be, per game, in 2018? But also, the unseen , luring a player away to create space... (a new stat should the gang from champion data be purusing)
  9. Fine... Soft Jobe Watsons? Well he's an effing ch*@t
  10. Correct weight sir.
  11. I can't compete (or understand) with your use of acronyms. Bravo champ. I presume SJW was 'Soft John Wayne's?'
  12. Cool to have different views on a forum with respect to the ‘ severity of insult’ ‘‘twas only a flesh wound’ etc etc , less so being bigoted on a media format accessible by all and sundry. Guess it makes sense if Dubya is a homage to the bush clan.
  13. Do we know who these people are... in all seriousness. I am happy to write a letter to their management regarding all of that.
  14. *see comments on forum re: Stewie Dew.
  15. Sometimes its nice being tedious in the positive...
  16. @Rusty Nails at least we're passionate about a players worth eh. I was thinking @binman could use his fancy stats thing and have a look at Weideman play by play and give a dispassionate take on his game - if he was so inclined.
  17. My thinking @Rusty Nails is that disposal stats are not enough to go off. Nor ignoring the context of the role he played. 4 score involvements and lots of unheralded running patterns. Anyway the FD will anoint some of us a fools on Thursday ?
  18. I’ve been giggling away this morning at the interpretations of Weids game - purely on low output of numbers. (mind you, everyone can have an opinion, so here is mine) I was at the game last night and focussed a fair bit on him - his running to create space was great - was right up there and helping hogan and tmac. For those that think he lacks confidence and use Spargos goal as a reason for that, is argue take a closer look at the deliberate holding off on taking a ping, then drawing Charlie’s man closer to him to free him up, that was class and an action that was devoid of a lack of confidence. Finally, someone is alway going to have the minimum stats for the week - does this person always have to be dropped irrespective of whether they play their role or not? If you think so, well... that’s stil living in the 1970’s.
  19. No helmet for brayshaw... though may have Called it early
  20. Dom has so far got 4 from 4 kicks in the pregame - don’t use up all your tickets pal...
  21. what? kittens?
  22. Hopefully the tipping point is close for that (maybe the next generation, as there is a clear groundswell) - but not yet, not when you want to fit in, have a career, not be turfed out the door... "keep your head down" is still an appropriate way for people to cope through these things, because (as has been seen here) they're labelled as precious... Imagine having THAT dichotomy to deal with on a daily basis...the experience of getting vilified (real or perceived) and noting that the best way is to stay mum, to retain your gig. Anecdote time from a current player to empahsise this. Said club has change of sponsorship at start of year... marketing person says to coach who is wearing 2017's gear... "Cough cough sir... just to let you know, you need to be wearing x, y, z top.". Said coach, tells staff member to [censored] off and mind his own business in a public setting. I'm pretty certain if I was marketing person (bloke) I would retreat into my shell... positions of power etc etc... now imagine if that was in a real business world and the fall out from that - this does not happen in clubland. Now imagine it when its about your skin colour, choice of sexuality, etc etc... and people are outwardly/implicitly sanctioning that behaviour because they too are fearful of reprisal in whatever way it would come. I would feel so so stuck and in disbelief... but then it's ALSO the 18years of this stuff that Wilkinson has had prior, via society. sorry @jnrmac - not a dig at you... i just feel so passionate about this and the gulf between antiquated and more evolved (imo) thinking on the matter... methinks some are into phrenology on this site.
  23. My take @jnrmac after reading the media, is rather than calling out individuals (as he been effectively dealt with ie: Sherman) he is after significant cultural shift within AFL clubs and by default the AFL itself. It's less about the coin and more about the principle for Wilkinson and to create change for others existing in the current system and for those who will enter it.
  24. I think it is magnificent that he is making a stand...
  25. bigotry is always in the eye of the receiver... and I would have no idea about receiving bigotry, as I am white middle class and that has given my life and my son's life on a silver platter, and given me privilege, the privilege not to be worried about comments that I can make sense of as throw a way lines. but [censored], coming from SW Victoria in the 80's... myself using coon, wogs, niggers, as it was a societal norm, at the school yard, football field, pub parlance on reflection is disgraceful...thank god most of us are more evolved and sensitive to the fact that the receiver is entitled to feel, what the feel, and that its not because people are precious, its because they've been harrassed for arbitrary genes (female, non white), by MOSTLY white, middle class males all their life be it overtly or otherwise. A forum is exactly that, a place to share your thoughts, right or wrong. but as mentioned on here, you will be severely judged for your views.
