  1. I watched his draft, I remember the commentators/hosts saying that as long as the Dees could get his body right, as he was coming off injuries, that they believed that the Weid could be the steal of the draft at No.9.

I like the kid, he's shown glimpses of what he can do, some of his handballs to hit a free player whilst under a pack have been brilliant. If he hasn't improved and playing consistent AFL in 2 more years, then I may, may, agree to trade. ?

  2. Brayshaw - Has played 3 good games in the VFL and is a class above, I have no issues with bringing him in this week.

Watts - By dropping him now he at least has a chance to play 1-2 good VFL games and possibly come back in. What would've happened if he played another poor game against the Saints? Dropped to VFL with possibly only 1 game to prove himself? Goody might think Jack needs a kick in the arse to get him going again?

Weid - I think this kid has plenty of potential and seems to playing his role in the VFL. Is he ready? I don't know, but I'm damn glad that they've got confidence in him and are giving him a run. Let's be honest too, has to be better then what Watts has given us in the last few games.

Maynard - Bit unlucky, but he's had a taste and will be better for it. Guessing this was more of a team balance situation.

  3. I think Grundy will get off. Grundy was hanging off Brown for a long time without being able to bring him down, Brown then tried to kick the ball, going from having feet spread and grounded to pivoting on one leg with 100kgs still hanging off him, contributing to how and why he crashed to the ground. ?

  4. I was there, unfortunately by myself, normally 3-5 of us, but the others were busy with local footy or work.

I actually had quite a good day, I had 4 people sit next to me, bloke was a Crows supporter but basically went for the Dees for the day, his misses was a one eyed Port supporter, her daughter, another Crows supporter and the daughter's boyfriend was a Dees member. Although the mother was one eyed, she was quite funny and couldn't believe how much Nicholls was looking after them with frees. ? She even high fived big Maxy as he walked around the fence line after the game. ?

Wrong target Big Demon.  Lewis should be your target after his performance on 360 last night.  He gave Bernie the same clip as Jones but of course Jones can do it because he hasn't been reported and doesn't snipe.

Lewis on the other hand has cost us at least one game (Freo) but failed to see that his comments on Bernie were totally hypocritical.  He should have used the word "we" when he talked about a lack of discipline and how Bernie has hurt the team.  If you're going to talk the talk you've got to walk the walk and Lewis doesn't.

And here is the reason we have publicly clipped Bernie BD.  It's all about Brand - our Brand.  Our club has an image problem.  We are, in the eyes of the public, an undisciplined and thuggish group who regularly go out and snipe other players.  In this day and age it isn't on.  We are completing for sponsorship, members and AFL support (see the comments on the draw).  Our image is hurting us in all these areas and we are in damage control. Hence the public stance on Bernie.

Oh, and how the wheel has turned.  When I criticised Lewis and Hogan (forgiven) for their round 2 antics I was greeted with the same response as you are now.  There were pathetic responses of "provocation" and "retaliation".  Lewis didn't acknowledge he'd hurt the team when interviewed on 360 and was supported on DL for his "FU" attitude.  I reckon a lot of the same people who disagreed with me then now recognize how destructive the stupid and irresponsible these needless suspensions are. They could well cost us finals.

Bernie's copping the heat now but Lewis is equally to blame.  Both in the leadership group?, I'm not sure, but last night Lewis squibbed it and should have stood front and centre with Bernie for letting the team down.

Not sure how often you watch 360, but I've seen Lewis own up and apologise for his suspension a few times on the show, he's admitted that he may have cost us wins and he set a bad example.

It's been mentioned here plenty of times how loose Vince has been on occasion, I have no issues at all in how Jones and Lewis have answered questions on the issue.

  6. Possibly some good news, just heard on Triple M, they were talking about big Paddy and his concussion issues at St Kilda, JB was asked about Gus, stated that he believes that Gus will be back playing in a few weeks. The Dees have been upping his full contact drills at training, hopefully it turns out well and we see him back. Personally I think he's a gun, just needs a good run of games together to get used to the pace again.

  7. That pretty much sums up the whole interview. Second part they asked about Hogan, Brayshaw had heard that he's travelling beautifully and might be back for Queens Bday clash, Clarry hadn't heard anything. He lived with Gus and his family for his first year, now lives with Trenners and AVB, his girlfriend Sophie does a fair amount of cooking for the boys. That's about it.

  8. The kid is certainly unlucky, Selwood ducks so much that he basically gets his head split open every game, but is fine to play each week. Gus on the other hand can't seem to take a trick.

Obviously my comment is without seeing what happened today or knowing Gus' medical reports, but I'd be happy if the club just put him in cotton wool for the rest of the season, still train etc, but no games. Hopefully half a season off with no head bumps will "reset" his brain, so to speak, and he'll come back fine?

I'm certain that Gus, his family and the Club will put his health first. Personally I'd love to see him fully recovered and back playing for the Club.

  9. ^ I'll be honest, after the way both teams played last week, I was extremely confident that the Crows would come out and beat us convincingly. I'm glad that we actually showed some balls and proved that we are capable of beating the big boys. We must back it up now.

And Weid tackled brilliantly tonight, fantastic effort from a 19yo Key Posistion.

Mixed feelings on this win,  will mean nothing if we lose next week, we are still playing one bad qtr every game, also we were down by 26 points in 2nd quarter before we got our game going, this has to change if we are to make finals. Second week in a row we lost hit outs badly but still won the clearances, we would be top 4 if max was playing

I wouldn't say we played a bad quarter, the Crows have smashed every team this year in second quarters, so we actually held them off pretty well in that quarter.

  11. I read a Paul Roos comment a few weeks ago, they got him to pick that draft year again, he said he would take Gus at 1, Track at 2 and Paddy at 3. Shows you how highly Roos rates Gus, and I'm with Roos on this one.

I'd like to send a big "[censored] you" to the two shithead Hawks supporters who just lobbed in the Melbourne seating section after 3/4 time.

I hate all other team supporters but you just sent Hawks to the top of the list.

Was that the two blokes who security moved because they were in the wrong section? I saw them but thought that they were chearing ect, I didn't hear them though and only saw them get moved out of the section.

Can't remember Tom Bugg having a shot at goal....

No, he attempted to pass the ball to Hannan, I think, in the goal square, it was punched through for a point. I was fuming at the game, he should've gone back and had a shot from that distance.

I'm not big on bagging players, but I thought Salem was shocking today, for the first time I regretted giving away Kelly for Salem and Tyson. ?

And JKH? I don't know where to even start.

This loss has really left me flat.

Probably not a wise thing to do the week your coach comes out and tells you to keep it clean and play within the rules.

Haha, proves he's not the sharpest tool in the shed, definitely a tool though. ?

  15. I cannot see the issue, he got suspended, the club decided it would be a good time to send him home for 3 days, he visits his family, attends a concert with mates, has a smoke and will return to Melbourne and pick up training as per normal.

Is it a good look for a professional athlete to be seen smoking? Probably not, but as long as he returns fit I don't care. If all of a sudden he appears to struggle to run out games, then it becomes an issue.

Although I was [censored] that Hogan got suspended, I actually thought it was a good move by the club to send him home for a few days to visit family. If he gets suspended for something stupid again, then I run him into the ground at training as punishment, but I'd do the same to Vince and Lewis too.

  16. When I first saw the Hogan one I thought he got Rowe in the neck, and Rowe took a dive, but after watching it on tv I think Hogan will miss a week. I don't think Rowe took a dive either unfortunately.

    Pederson to play next week.

  17. I haven't watched the replay yet, I'm just going off my thoughts of watching the game live.

I actually think Carlton set up their backline really well, it was hard for us to get any decent delivery into our forward 50. I thought Hogan did a lot of work but was let down badly by our delivery into that congested zone, and Rowe played a pretty solid game.

Salem, OMac and TMac were great down back today. Lewis was tagged but did a bit off the ball to try and clear space for other players.

Jones, Jeffy, Tyson and Oliver were great. Sometimes I think Oliver is too cute with his handballs, but I'm being picky with that one.

It looked, and felt, like we outplayed them most of the game, but our bad turnovers in attack really cost us, they then spread and ran the ball down the wing and hurt us quite a few times on those turnovers.

I'd be surprised if Hogan even copped a fine for his incident.

Overall I'm happy with a 22 point win, I'll admit I was hoping for an 8-10 goal win, but Carlton played an outstanding third quarter and a win is a win. My views may change after watching the replay though. ?

  18. I honestly can't understand why Omac cops so much crap on these forums? Does he make mistakes? Yes, but he's a key position player with only 18 games under his belt, mistakes are going to happen.

If you look at Supercoach points, he was actually our highest ranked back 6 player. I agree that sometimes his mistakes are frustrating, but no more than Tmac, Vince or Petraaca.
