  1. Yep and apparently they inject grass.
  2. I think you'll find the guys on this thread that are supporting the clubs decision to delist Ferguson: a) respect the courage Ferguson showed on the football field; B) thank Ferguson for his efforts over the past 5 years; AND c) condemn Yze for his less than convincing efforts over the past couple of seasons.
  3. Yeah someone on Bigfooty posted this link which makes reference in the last paragraph to potential sanctions: http://www.abc.net.au/sport/content/200704/s1910049.htm Picks 3, 12 and 18 certainly sounds good. But the reality is this is a sad situation that has been dealt with poorly by both West Coast and the AFL. And YM if WC did lose their pick 3 I'd reckon Richmond would no longer feel obliged to pick Morton and go for Cotchin anyway. But, hey, we're allowed to dream. Cotchin would be a just reward for a terrible season.
  4. Austin Lucy is an interesting one. I thought being drafted and then de-listed after one year was poor form from Essendon. I've seen the Zillmere Eagles play a bit and Austin has played up forward and looked the part making the AFLQ team of the year. He was drafted as a key back and didn't last 12 months on an AFL list. Many people are still mystified by his treatment. From all accounts he's a good kid with some size and a bit of fire in the belly. I'd be interested to see if he gets picked up again. Probably a long shot.
  5. If Cotchin is best available and West Coast have the opportunity, they simply must take him. Not taking him would set a dangerous precedent. They need to make a statement that they will always take the best availble regardless of where they live. I'm sure they will.
  6. I think TJ's first public response to his trade only adds to the sentiments of H: "There is no doubt it is going to help playing alongside Simon Black and Lukey Power and Nigel Lappin. I have been tagged week-in week-out pretty much since I started and it has been pretty tough. I have probably not had the players around me in the midfield, so maybe now they can go to someone else." Excuse making of the highest order.
  7. I always got the impression TJ loved the big stage and the cut and thrust of the contest. His love of the training track and the necessary disciplined lifestyle and dieting regime, however, was a completely different matter. Suggesting 'giving up' sums up a career is as critical as it gets.
  8. H didn't suggest he willingly gave up. But the suggestion that he gave up during the hard slog of many a pre-season certainly has credibility. The real question you must ask is why did he hit the wall so often? Why was he started on the bench so regularly?
  9. What inspires me is that 9 of those 10 picks weren't Craig Cameron picks. Have some faith.
  10. A nice way to mark your 900th H. I liked what Robinson said on SEN today. He said something to the effect that footy is all about supporters loving their club and loving those who play for their club and as a consequence we (irrational fans) find it hard to rationalise losing a favoured son. H you could never be accused of this. You've always got your eyes on the ultimate prize! TJ was a favoured son because he could do the impossible. He's the type of player who sees things most can't on a footy field but like so many who show glimpses of genius, he is also flawed. Timing, in footy, like life, is everything and this was the time for the MFC to make a statement - to the playing group, to the supporters and to the opposition that near enough is no longer good enough. We've thrown around words like 'character' and 'ruthlessness' for too long without backing it up with action. TJ sent a card of congratulations to mark my recent wedding, he was my favourite player and one of the few players in our team who genuinely sends a shiver down my spine but the bottom line is, he had to go. H is right, talking about potential is a disgrace when you're talking about a ten year player. This club needs to find young men who share a single-minded obsession to do all within their power to achieve success as a team and despite the near endless list of Travis Johnstone highlights I've reminisced about today, the harsh reality is that he simply didn't provide the example a player of his experience needed to. He will certainly be missed and he may well star for Brisbane next year but its hard to argue that this wasn't the right time.
  11. I'd be more than happy with a hardnut midfielder of the Harris or Bell variety. I rate Birchall highly and Penny and Watt played many games between them in key defensive posts. Jury still out on Monfries and Sellar.
  12. I'm not sure if I place any stock in these types of history lessons, but just for the record, pick 14 in the past has nabbed: 2007 - James Sellar 2006 - Grant Birchall 2005 - Angus Monfries 2004 - Fergus Watts 2003 - Daniel Bell 2002 - Ashley Watson 2001 - Daniel Harris 2000 - Travis Gaspar 1999 - Luke Penny 1998 - Shannon Watt
  13. And the forgotten man, Colin Garland. And I might add, I'm looking forward to seeing how Bode develops throught the pre-season games after his impressive last month.
  14. Lethal has extended his contract and obviously must see enough in the young kids to think he has a big shot over the next 3 years and recruiting TJ reinforces the feeling that the Lions are capable of sneaking another premiership before he gives it away. TJ is a good fit for them. Good luck to him. He can do things very few in the game can do but his time at the MFC was up. As a Brisbanite I'll enjoy his laser-like deliver to Jonno Brown and ironically probably see more of him than I have over the past decade.
  15. Just confirmed on SEN - Johnstone to Brisbane for pick 14.
  16. Thanks for the Meesen history lesson YM. Much appreciated.
  17. Looks like someone got some wires crossed. Shaw was a sweetner alright - for Brisbane NOT Melbourne: http://realfooty.com.au/news/news/shaw-mig...1695990919.html Melbourne also linked to Moran. Wonder what Meesen would make of that?
  18. Looks that way. His approach clearly didn't work this year - they were very disappointing.
  19. He was funny until he blatantly started to lie about his editing of posts on the 'Let's load up . . . . . ' thread.
  20. So some journalist stuck a microphone in his face and asked him where he might get drafted. He's aware he's a top 5 prospect and responds with humility by suggesting that he's not sure and then cops a public blast from his coach whilst being filmed by foxsports. I think his coach was enjoying his 15 minutes. Cotchin took it well - good on him!
  21. Did you seriously just compare McMahon to Jamar? When's trade week over?
  22. That looks a little more realistic.
  23. I just thought I'd bring the 61 - 1 odds to the attention of the true believers/optimists/fatalists so that they could cash in!
  24. Carlton at 21 - 1. Unbelievable.
  25. We're the official outsider. Wow. http://www.tabonline.com.au/cgi-bin/main.p...orts/index.html
