Demons Grand Plan for Yarra Park Training HQ
north westerly replied to Wiseblood's topic in Melbourne Demons
I walk my dog there - it's awesome. Open from 9am to sunset every day (except on race days). A massive area that is all an off lead area plus it has the lake for him to have a swim and to chase some ducks. -
Very Harsh on Spargo. Even though he may not get large numbers, he always uses the ball intelligently and delivers the ball to our advantage. Case in point when he was in heavy congestion, but noticed Hunt all alone 30 out in the 3rd Qtr. Most would have blazed away and kicked it long, but he lowered his eyes in a split second, resulting in a goal.

I’m not one to sensationalise, but do we honestly think he’s the answer at FF. Trade him for two first rounders while he has some currency !

West Coast Eagles spearhead Josh Kennedy opens up on latest shin injury Chris Robinson and Bridget LacyThe West Australian Tuesday, 31 July 2018 9:34AM Simpson speaks 1:54 | 7 News Perth Simpson speaks Play Video West Coast coach Adam Simpson speaks after the weekend loss and ahead of the derby. West Coast spearhead Josh Kennedy has revealed a knee to the shin from teammate Tom Cole as the reason he’ll miss this weekend’s derby - and possibly beyond. Kennedy didn’t fly to Hobart for the Eagles’ loss to North Melbourne due to the incident at training last week, with the forward all but ruling himself out of a return against Fremantle on Sunday. Speaking to 6PR this morning, Kennedy said the latest knock had left him sore following the hairline fracture at the top of the fibula on the same right leg that kept him out of action earlier in the season. “The previous knock I had... I just got another knock at training, which was not on the spot but around that area,” he said. “It’s pulled up a bit sore, and we kind of thought it would pull up a bit better from (last) Thursday to Saturday, but it didn’t. “To get another knock and not be able to run, turn, lead or participate in training was disappointing.” Josh Kennedy won’t face the Dockers.Picture: Getty Images Kennedy outed the training culprit as Cole, who was yesterday crowned this week’s Rising Star nominee after an encouraging season in defence. “He’s given me a knee and he’s copped the award this week,” Kennedy said with a laugh. Cole addressed the incident at a press conference later in the morning. "It was a funny one," Cole said. "I didn't even know I did that until we looked at the vision after training. “It was just one of those things during training - we have knocks. It's a physical game. It was just a contest where we hit each other. I shouted him a coffee during the week, so we're all good now. “We're on good terms. It was a bit incidental. I didn't even know what happened.” Cole admitted he felt a little bad. "Yeah I do," he said. "He's a pretty important part of our team. But he forgave me pretty quick. Hopefully we get him back pretty soon." West Coast remain in second place following the Kangaroos loss, but face a fight to hold their all-important top-two spot over the last four weeks of the season. The Eagles travel to South Australia to take on fellow flag contenders Port Adelaide after this weekend’s derby, with Kennedy eyeing a return against the Power. “I’m hoping to - that’s the plan,” Kennedy said of a comeback against Port. “We’ve just got to make sure this settles and I can get through a bit of training this week. “If I can’t train this week, then it’s probably unlikely for next week.” Kennedy’s absence will be felt against the Dockers on Sunday, with the two-time Coleman Medallist having booted 19 goals in his past four derby outings.

I dropped past for 15 mins and it looked like they nearly finishing up. I was down the Northern end and there was lots of one on one contested marking work between backs and forwards resulting in not too many marks but Lever looked good and was disposing of it well. Maxy was a lonely figure doing set shots for goals and of about the 10 shots I watched ranging from 20m -40m out, all but one went through the middle. His action looks completely different from the 2 misses he's had in round one and last week and seems to have his weight further forward and is only kicking off 3 steps. The opposite has to be said about Bugg. He was having repeated shots from the boundary and couldn't find the middle. Yuck !

Who remembers the B side : "The Footy Song" ? It's pretty sad, but I remember it word for word. -
Totally agree - it was an amateur players effort. I don't care how long or why you've been out of the game, but get back into the contest and help a team mate out. I would love the high performance managers to put a heart rate monitor on some of our players and see how often they hit the red zone (90+% max heart rate).

Quality individual, leading the way with a group of individuals acting as one. Goody will be our next premiership coach if he can have a full list to choose from.

Just driving past training and stopped in. Jack Watts doing rehab running over about 40-50m at about 1/3 pace. I'd say he's quite a few weeks from playing.

MATCH PREVIEW & TEAM SELECTION - Round 4
north westerly replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
A Richmond mate invited me to join him at the "battle of the co-tenants". I pointed out that I would be attending a game on Friday night, but it is between a landlord and a one of their feral tenants. -
When Carlton lose to Geelong this week and then to West Coast at Subiaco the week after, will the Carlton board consider sacking him after 4 straight losses ? I don't think so ! So for all you doomsday keyboard critics, hold tight as nothing can be gained from sacking a coach after 2 games. Malthouse was bought by Carlton to do a particular job, as was Neeld at Melbourne. So let's see what can be done by actually backing him in to do what he needs to do. - it's alway darkest just before the dawn !

Lose the agro "bossdog". Fair comment for such an alarmist title I would have thought

Caroline Wilson's descent into gutter journalism

Where has the fire breathing dragon gone ? It's been two days without a scathing article. It seems the tide has turned on this argument and she has either headed back to the fiction section of her local library or has scampered off to her den to pick at some other rotting carcass. Hopefully the Demon's legal team will now come out and emulate St George and slay the dragon once and for all. -
Latest murmurings of a crazy time

It looks like the club has done the right thing by these 3 players and have helped them find a new home. I think it's got nothing to do with the picks, but rather the club being up front that they were not in our future plans and such have helped them extend their careers, rather than going into the PS or national draft where they may well be overlooked.
