  1. I reckon McNamara's more of a 'forgotten man' than Maric. Maric does cop some criticism on here. No one even mentions McNamara. Bell, Miller and PJ are gone. Dunn and Bartram have to work hard to keep their spots. Neither are certainties. The rest are fine. Got to keep depth on your list.
  2. Not you too? If we have to, let's use McKenzie in that role. And that's assuming McDonald (did a pretty decent job of 'stopping' Judd, didn't he?) and Jones aren't fit. If they are then the point's moot. Oh please no, I'm begging for a beautiful day. QB always sucks when it rains. Yes, we've done well in the wet this year, but for once I'd love for the sun to be out on QB. It was beautiful weather in Round 2.
  3. Oh, I didn't realise he was a utility, thought he was just a forward. Well there you go. I have to say, I'm happy as a Melbourne supporter to see Macaffer named in your team. Unlike seeing names like Didak, Pendlebury, Thomas, Swan etc. This is why there's been debate about scrapping the QB fixture. Hopefully this year's game is a close one and then over the next 2-3 years, as we develop into the next Geelong, this game becomes something you guys actually look forward to. As it stands this is just another game for the Magpies. Edit: Part of this I reckon is that having Collingwood v Melbourne in Round 2 dilutes it a bit. ANZAC day, being Round 5 or so, means it's the first time Essendon and Collingwood play each year. They usually play again later in the year but that doesn't have the same effect as playing before the marquee match. If we can get our finances in order I'd be up for changing the system and allowing Collingwood to alternate hosting rights to QB. It's only like it is at the moment because Collingwood (graciously) allows us to reap the benefits of a big crowd. Maybe if we alternated home/away status, which would remove the need for a Round 2 match between the teams, the QB fixture would regain its unique status in the fixture. And that might make it more appealling to Collingwood as well as us.
  4. Wrong issue Redleg. Maybe we've ditched the red jumper for 2010. Who knows. But I was as surprised as the next person to see us run out in the white last Saturday. Just because you've been clear doesn't mean you haven't contradicted yourself, which you have. I don't disagree, I too reckon our regular jumper would work fine against Carlton with white shorts. And to suggest that I'm 'belittling' you because you're standing up for the club is ridiculous.
  5. Ah yes, that rare species of human known as the intelligent Collingwood supporter. I always like reading your work Dave. Agree with this. I have no idea how he went in Round 1 vs the Dogs but I'm confident that Petterd's job on him was a significant factor in us getting on top of you guys. This week it's not just about Shaw but O'Brien and Maxwell as well. I felt that in Round 2 we shut down your run from defence which basically through your confidence from Round 1 out the window and you were on the back foot from the start, but your overall class and experience got you over the line. Gotta have a go at a Collingwood player: I reckon this guy's the luckiest man in AFL football at the moment. I went to Coll-Geelong a few weeks back, and Macaffer was the sore thumb standing out that night. He just doesn't seem to be capable at the top level. But you'd know more than me Dave. You prefer Macaffer to Anthony (I love seeing Anthony struggle by the way )?
  6. I'm not too fussed with the ruck situation. We have one of the leagues 3 or 4 best ruckmen doing a fantastic job at the moment. We have Spencer, Martin and Gawn developing. Just because we don't have someone ready now doesn't mean one of those three won't make it in 1, 2 or 3 years time. And even if we don't, probably the least important position in a premiership 22 is second ruck. We're getting enough of the ball at the moment to win games, we just need to develop a forward line and work on getting a midfield that will dominate in the coming years. Once our midfield is dominating like Geelong's, St Kilda's, the Dogs' and Carlton's do, you won't hear a peep about having a second ruckman.
  7. I don't wear glasses and I can see just fine thankyou. I was referring to your blatant contradiction on this subject, specifically how you blew a gasket at the AFL allowing the umpires to wear pink because, gosh darn it, there was a clash between their pink and ours, yet you cannot understand why clubs are asked by the AFL to wear an alternate jumper to their traditional one when a clash with an opponent arises. The manner in which the AFL enforces this rule is less than optimal (home teams, for example, should never ever wear anything other than their traditional strip), and you have every right to be incensed at the AFL permitting the umpires to wear pink that week, but if you can't see the condradiction in your opinions then I think it's you who needs glasses.
  8. Let's hope some of the Johnson fans read this comment.
  9. The Gold Coast and GWS will not win 10 flags in a row for one simple reason: We'll be winning most of them.
  10. WYL digging his own grave yet again... I get many a good chuckle reading his work... It's about more than just the effect on the players. It's about the viewers, at the ground and on TV, who sometimes struggle to work out who is who. Geelong vs Collingwood, for example, or Collingwood vs North Melbourne. Or Essendon/Richmond.
  11. FFS... When will it end?
  12. You would have been ridiculed for saying that this time last year. Shows how wrong most of us were in writing Junior off. And how good he's been this year.
  13. Left field: McNamara
  14. Blease at 2 weeks, Jurrah at 3 and Tapscott at 4 are nice signs.
  15. Really? I would have thought it's the opposite. His work in heavy traffic is pretty good (Doggo's stats above support that). I prefer him in and under rather than out in the open, or defending.
  16. Not to insult, but I'm going to go with this. Anyone who seriously thinks PJ should be back in the team is either a slow learner or has the memory of a goldfish. Sorry.
  17. Shhh. Don't let rpfc hear you.
  18. I don't care either way, but I was surprised nonetheless to see us run out in the white and not the red. Especially since we wore red against Carlton last year.
  19. No reasons to bring Maric into the team. He's not doing anything of note at Casey. PJ is terrible. We went over this a month ago, then he played, then he sucked, then he was dropped. Why, 3 weeks later, his name is being brought up again is beyond me. Bell has had his chance. Move on people.
  20. His kicking isn't consistenly good, and for someone of his obvious talent, it should be better. He turns it over more than once a game. And it's not always because he shouldn't have received the ball in the first place.
  21. Yes, that would probably be more appropriate. IIRC Bruce did well last year though.
  22. Despite having an OK game against Carlton, this is a testament to how Bruce is doing this year (i.e. poorly).
  23. Lol at the gullibility (word?) of everyone who thought that tweet signified the end of Petterd, Wonna and Bate. Ridiculous. This is actually Cam Schwab? Hey cool! Anytime you post here will be appreciated.
  24. I'm guessing he won't play. He does have 7 days, but I think blood clots are pretty serious.
  25. No I'm not. It's not unfair to suggest that the players I mentioned are less than reliable when it comes to kicking. As I said, players like Scully and Grimes give a lot more to the team and their kicking isn't as bad as some others. But for players like MacDonald, Bartram, Bruce, it hampers their output in games.
