  1. From the AFL website: "The Demons are also in discussions with Adelaide midfielder Bernie Vince, although not for the No.2 pick" Good to hear that pick 2 won't be a part of any move for Vince. Second rounder would be a fair trade.
  2. Yes he did. Third rounder is a bit low for someone who is a regular midfielder averaging 20 touches. He isn't a fringe player, he has been best 22. Second rounder would, and should, work.
  3. Fringe midfielder? Has played almost 60 games over the last 3 years. Won't argue that he has been inconsistent and he isn't a star, but outside of N Jones he is better right now than any other midfielder on our list. Would be a good addition for the right price.
  4. Stats never tell the whole story but he averaged 20 disposals a game last year. Would love to see what mids, outside of N. Jones, were able to do that for us last season. Someone mentioned in the other thread that he is injury prone but he has played 58 games over the last 3 seasons. Certainly isn't a star but he would automatically become our second best midfielder.
  5. I'd like to think it's this. Polec to Adelaide, Vince to Melb, second rounder to the Lions? As long as it's not Pick 2 I think we strike a good deal. Vince would add plenty of experience and class to our midfield.
  6. I'd see it as a win only because Vince is more of a midfeidler than Sylvia ever was. Will be more than handy for us.
  7. Agree with this. I think there are a few more dominoes to fall in terms of picks and players before we go for Vince. At 28 he isn't worth the second pick in the draft. Mahoney mentioned we might be getting players and picks so it may be Vince, another player a second round pick (or something like that) for pick 2.
  8. Twitter reporting that we met with Bernie Vince today to discuss a potential move to the club. No mention of what picks etc may be involved. Would love Vince at the club IF pick 2 was not involved.
  9. I'd be happy to get either player just for Pick 2. But don't let the over valuing of our pick or the under valuing of opposition players get in the way of a fair deal.
  10. And that's what we need to remember - that this is a longer process and that we will get the right deal for the pick and, if we don't, we won't trade it. Roos, PJ and Mahoney aren't fools. They'll wait until the right deal presents itself, whether that be today or on the last day of the trade period, and we won't just throw the pick away for a decent player and a second rounder. It's hard to be patient in trade week but it's all we can do. I think we'll do other deals before we trade pick 2 anyway.
  11. Could see them parting with one of 10 or 11 and a player for Pick 2 though. Still means we can select a very, very good player and add to our list as well. Not sure which player we would target from the Pies though.
  12. Thanks for the summary guys, thoroughly appreciated! Looks like there is still plenty happening for the club - don't mind the idea of trading down from Pick 2 if it included a very good player and a pick still within the first round for us to select another mid. Sounds as though we are right into Cross and that there are players out there who are keen to play for the club. Positive stuff all round.
  13. Maybe I'm trying to put too much of a positive spin on it, but he said "at the moment" - with two weeks left of trading I'd like to think that the club won't pull the trigger straight away and wait until the last week before doing anything in the hope something good comes up. Interested to see what players we might be in to though...
  14. So it was mentioned once on SEN three days ago. Point is that the trade took many by surprise and no one really saw it coming.
  15. We only need to look at the McEvoy trade today to see that anything can happen in trade week - McEvoy had not been mentioned anywhere and all of a sudden he is traded to Hawthorn. While we may not be mentioned as much as some would like that doesn't mean we aren't very active behind the scenes. I'm still convinced we will get the deals done that we want and we will see some improvement to our list over the next few months.
  16. Not concerned in the slightest. There is still 2 weeks to go and it's not as if there have been that many trades up till now. Confident we will get some deals over the line, just need some patience.
  17. Nice tweet from Andrew Walker: "My short term memory has never been a strength of mine, can't believe I dont remember having a falling out with mick!! #greatjournalism #" Further proof of how silly this time of the season can be...
  18. Interesting line here from Ralphy in the HUN: "Adelaide’s Bernie Vince was a quality midfielder shopped around by the Crows in Monday’s talks, a rare talented onballer available to rival clubs." Wonder if we could work a deal with them over the coming weeks that included Vince and something else for our Pick 2...?
  19. If we got greedy and GWS bit I'd love Bugg. Reckon he could really add something to our list.
  20. Interesting. Talks starting means there will probably be more to it than just Pick 2 for Shiel but it's a positive start. I'd be very happy adding him to our midfield.
  21. Will you be the one to apologise when it doesn't happen first?
  22. I said gun outside runners, not just any old player. Lumping Bail, Blease, Nicho and Evans in there to make up numbers doesn't cover the fact that we lack plenty of outside class, something Kelly brings. Trengove is an inside mid as much as an outside mid and Grimes spent time in there also. I don't argue the fact that we need some more inside players but we also need lots of class as well. Kelly brings that in spades, as does James Aish. Having one of them alongside Toumpas for the next 10 years would be fantastic. With our second rounders we might land a Dunstan, Dumont, Z Jones etc who can join Jones, Viney, Trengove, Grimes as the inside midfielders who get the ball to Kelly/Aish and Toumpas, that's if we keep the 2nd pick, which it's likely we won't. I know we need inside players but your complete dismissal of someone like Kelly and his value to our side is both short sighted and naive.
  23. You go ahead and keep telling yourself that if it makes you feel better.
