Huge thanks in advance to any who can go tonight and provide a report. Looking forward to, hopefully, hearing that Casey and the players make a positive start to the year.

Move on Doc.
-
Move on from last week. Yeah, righto, Port are making us look bad... we knew that already. No need to keep rubbing salt in your own wounds, it's still good to see the druggies getting smashed. The Toump has had 8 touches as well, although again, none of them seem all that damaging.
-
So I'm on fire this week...
-
Possibly. However, if you play Frost down back then I think it makes it harder for him to give Max a chop out in the ruck. It would leave one of their tall forwards with a smaller type player and I'm not sure that's what we want. Bringing in Wagner might mean that Frost still plays forward (if picked) and Lumumba acts as the third tall, with Wagner and Salem providing the run across half back.
-
I still think Garlett 100% plays. It wouldn't surprise to see Pedersen dropped for someone like Stretch, although I'd feel as though we were one tall short, unless they plan on playing someone like Lumumba on Waite.
-
I don't even think I could agree with that...
-
I wouldn't call it a disgraceful decision, just an interesting one. He clearly impressed over the pre season, and while his NAB form wasn't flash, they clearly believe he can fit our structure and give us something off half back. Can he do it? I'm not sold yet, but let's hope that he can.
-
Not saying that all. Just saying it's a tough gig when you're playing on blokes who have 10-15cm on you. I didn't realise it was that hard to understand.
-
I need to leave this thread, but I can recall at least 3 times he played in front of Daniher on the weekend. Didn't work, I'll give you that, but he certainly did things differently. I'll be interested to see how Dunn, McDonald and whoever else (Frost? Pedersen?) covers the North talls this weekend if they get the same easy ball that Daniher got in the weekend. Hopefully they do better.
-
That may well be the case. Like I said, I can't argue it this time around. I've got nowhere to go. I just didn't like the argument re: playing on guys like Lobb and Daniher. Tough ask when you're giving up 10-15cm on both players.
-
If that were true, then this playing group can get stuffed. One minute they don't like Neeld, the next minute they don't like Roos... even prior to that they were running rampant all over Dean Bailey and doing as they pleased. If, and it's a huge IF, this happened to be true, then it's highly disappointing. The boys need to knuckle down, listen, learn and get on with the job and stop being a bunch of sooks.
-
Fair enough - if he doesn't have the height, then don't play them, but to get into him for it is poor. He didn't ask to be given the task of playing on opponents who are far taller than him, Roos and the coaches decided that. He did as much as he could within the confines of the situation. But I'm talking to the king of negativity, so I'll leave it there. The bloke has been dropped so there isn't much I can do to defend him in this situation.
-
I can't argue him being dropped, but your reason here is pathetic. Lobb has 14cm on Garland, so he had every right to beat him in those contests. Then Garland spends time on Daniher who is 10cm taller. Get into him for other things, but he was required to play well above his height over the first two rounds, which is a tough ask for anyone.
-
I admitted on the previous page that I can't really argue him being dropped. Let's see if others can do better, though. I bet you pulled the ol' pud when you saw that he was dropped.
-
In terms of Demonland selection, can we please drop picket from the line up? I think he's carrying a 'head' injury...
-
Both are named in the starting 18, so they are guaranteed not to be dropped. Other changes will come from the interchange bench, where Oliver and Pedersen have been named as well.
-
Or it may be that he wants to reward consistent form, or consistently doing the team things, before they are promoted? ANB might have had 30 odd touches but that doesn't always tell the whole story.
-
Well, there you go. I've defended him in the past, as many would know, but I can't defend him being dropped. I'll cop that on the chin. Edit - I think Kent and Harmes are very lucky as well. They aren't named on the bench so they'll play on Sunday, but I haven't been impressed with their start to the season. Hopefully they can improve this weekend.
-
He didn't say that at all and you know it. I'm in the same boat about not being sure - not because I've written him off, but because I'm not totally sold on the fact that he's ready. I hope like hell that I'm wrong, but it's certainly an interesting selection. And all the best to him on his elevation. Let's hope he can make a positive contribution on Sunday.

Fantasy? I live in reality my good friend Choke. I forgot one - Dom Tyson spins out of 134 tackles during the game and doesn't get pinged for holding the ball once. Believe, my friend. DEMONS!
-
Yes we will. Viney to have 40 touches. Frost returns and kicks 10.1 from just 11 kicks. Dunn keeps Petrie scoreless. Gawn monsters Goldstein in the ruck, forcing him to retire. Watts lays 17 tackles. Garland makes no mistakes yet still cops it from everyone. Lumumba takes 27 attacking bounces and doesn't get tackled once. And Hogan re-signs for 15 years at just 200k a year, realising money isn't everything and he wants to sacrifice the coin for a premiership. DEMONS!

MFC v Adelaide, 1st Qualifying Final 1998
Wiseblood replied to waynewussell's topic in Melbourne Demons
I still remember Farmer taking a screamer over Robert Scott within the first 30 seconds too, which I thought was a great omen in that Prelim. He then proceeded to go back and miss from 35 metres out! -
I think he might have been one that was 'tired' during the Bombers game - I still think we might have rushed him back a little after his injury concerns late in the NAB Cup. Hopefully with a couple of weeks under his belt he is ready to bounce back to some good form.

Oh look, another Hogan thread. We don't have enough of these.
