  1. Even then, Menzel plays on... but the umpire didn't call it. Get stuffed Geelong.
  2. Everyone will claim that this is a wonderful fightback from the Cats, even though they've been given a heap of dodgy free kicks and simply benefited from it. Makes you want to spew.
  3. How the hell can the umpire pay that for holding the ball? Geelong getting everything in this quarter.
  4. I hate Joel Selwood. I don't care how good he is, he is a ducking, whinging sook who can't handle a tag and goes dirty when his side is behind. I have no idea why he is so celebrated in the footy community.
  5. They're never out of the contest. They know they can claw their way back into any game. Being over 5 goals down at the Cattery is a lead not many sides would have overturned in the last few decades. They haven't won yet, but if they keep Dangerwood quiet in the last quarter then they're home.
  6. It's no coincidence that with Dangerfield up and about the Cats are also playing well. Selwood is also having a decent game, which is further proof that the Cats are a two man team. No Dangerwood, no Geelong. If the Dogs can shut them down then they'll still win this game of footy.
  7. I'm in the same boat, although all the media attention that has followed the Dogs around since last year has me a little sick of them and happy to see them lose. However, I can't stand Geelong and would love to see them get rolled on their own dung heap.
  8. Cheers for sharing that dazzle, and much of it makes some sense and isn't too outlandish. I think Zak Jones will be linked to us regardless due to his brother, but I also think he could be a strong addition to the side. He's improved as a player this year and the opportunity to release Hunt further up the ground would leave the FD salivating at the prospect. To be honest, I've seen little of McStay so someone would need to fill me in. He's playing in a rubbish side so I'm not sure if we can get much of a read on him at present.
  9. Waite will straighten them up and is in terrific form, but the other two blokes do little for me. In and out of the side, they won't add all that much more than the blokes who have been dropped. Very happy with no changes as the 22 who won last week deserve to have another crack at it. Hopefully Hunt gets through tomorrow's training without any problems and can take his place on Sunday.
  10. Not to my knowledge. In this case the interchange bench for both sides has been listed in numerical order.
  11. I hope Titus sends a few royalty cheques your way. It's the least he could do!
  12. Would have sounded like something similar on the Adelaide board last week, and we know how well that worked out for them.
  13. How did you come up with that, Steve? Both are named on the extended interchange bench which doesn't give a whole lot away. I'd wager that if Hunt is right to go we may go in with no change.
  14. Reckon we will get an extended bench that includes Harmes, Melksham, Stretch and Neal-Bullen with no one out yet. I still think Hunt will get up for the game and we may well go in with no change.
  15. All we need is for someone to pronounce Cameron Schwab as the greatest CEO our club has ever had and the bizzaro world will be complete.
  16. Tall defenders and their disposal efficiency is one of the most irrelevant stats there is. 9 times out of 10 they are chipping backwards or across the ground under little to no pressure. It's no surprise their efficiency is that good. Their disposals rarely happen in the heat of battle like a midfielders would.
  17. You are going to turn the footy over sometimes when you get it as much as he does. No footballer is perfect. He has had a slow start to the year, though, and has made some errors that a player of his calibre shouldn't be making. I feel like he was getting back to his best a little during the second half of the Adelaide game, so let's hope that trend continues.
  18. Did you guys know that the Hawks have 80k members? Or that GWS have over 15k members? No idea how they've been able to do that, but there must be a negative in there about what we've been able to do. If GWS can have those numbers, and considering our time in the league, we should have at least 100k.... right?
  19. Just do us all a favour, Dees, and knock off Norf. You'll make us and the entire competition happy and get a spot back in the eight in the process.
  20. Yes, I do. What other purpose is there to trumpet that Essendon have 65k members, other than to try and point out our failures and how we should have more? Why do you need to talk about your 'amazement' in a thread about our memberships, where we've shown considerable improvement this year? It makes zero sense to me.
  21. You'll do anything to pull out a negative, hey SWYL? Who gives a stuff if Essendon have 65k members? You just wanted to drop it in here to push your tired, negative agenda.
  22. You don't think the club already knows these things? You don't think, just for a second, that PJ and his team have done their due diligence in all of these areas? PJ is not incompetent and, if they haven't followed something up, then I'll back his knowledge within the industry and his discretion over anything else.
  23. I know it's behind the paywall, but for those who can view it (or know how to get around the paywall), the link is here: http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/teams/melbourne/star-recruit-jordan-lewis-is-spreading-hawthorn-gospel-at-his-new-club-melbourne/news-story/5331da6c68b450060d13cb5f7b6e76fc Basically, it just outlines that Lewis has been talking extensively to the players about the 'take less money' model that Clarkson used at Hawthorn to assist in player retention, which in turn will help us break our premiership drought. Great to see Lewis doing this and if we keep growing as a group then hopefully that makes it even easier for players to sign on for the right coin. With teams throwing money around, and with a few gun players (Petracca, Gawn, Hunt etc.) out of contract next year, this may help us in retaining players without going overboard about it. The article does say that we aren't currently under an salary cap constraints and with it going up soon we shouldn't have any problems retaining our players. What it may help with is being able to add further players to the list as well to complement what we already have.
  24. I agree with it as well rjay and @stevethemanjordan - the trouble will be finding the right player for the right price. I like the idea of Trengove and he may be someone falling slightly under the radar in terms of interest. The problem we face is prying them free from their clubs, as they don't just grow on trees and are easily replaced. Hopefully as the season progresses a few other viable options present themselves.
