His body might not have been up to it, but until he got the footy injury he was well and truly up to it. I was excited for his future, and then he got the captaincy way too soon and a foot injury that he's never really recovered from. It's a shame. Bottom line is that he certainly had the talent. It was just taken from him in the end.

I agree. The media are normally pretty correct in reporting on who is interested in who, and we've not been mentioned in the slightest about having any interest in Stringer at all. It's all Bombers and Cats with a few other Vic clubs thrown in here and there. We aren't part of this at all. If we're up to our eyeballs in anything, then it's getting Jake Lever to the club.
-
An exciting player with room for improvement is only worth a third round pick? Doubt it. Not to mention that he is still young as well. Gold Coast wouldn't let him go for peanuts.
-
He'll go for more than that. Reckon pick 11 from the Bombers will get it done.
-
He wrestles for WWE in his spare time?
-
Dean Kent is a case in point. Many here are saying he isn't up to it, yet for some reason West Coast will want him as part of some farcical Gaff trade. It won't happen. If Kent were to be traded it would be for a third round pick, at best.

I never said it wasn't true, Cards. All I'm saying is that if you put rumours out there as fact, and they don't come through, then you lose your credibility. I'm quite happy to listen to info from those who have been proven to be in the know. Others? Who knows where they get their information from, and until they have been proven right a few times, then I'll remain skeptical.
-
He has pace, but we have enough half back types. I'd rather a pure midfielder with pace if we can find one.
-
Has he indicated he even wants out of the Suns?
-
And rightly so. If you put it out there and it's not true then your credibility is zero.
-
I think we're all in for Lever, which probably puts us out of the race for Stringer. He will command a first rounder and we'll be giving one up for Lever if he nominates us. It sounds like Essendrug and Geelong are further along the line anyway in regards to trading for him. I can't see us going after him.

Cruelled by injury and cruelled by an inept coach who gave him the captaincy too soon. Fate seemed to conspire against him no matter what he did. For all of that he never once complained or dropped his bundle. He did everything to get the best out of the abilities he was left with after the horror injuries. I think most of us knew that he wasn't the same player he was, and while the decision is right for us to move on, it doesn't mean we can't look back at his career and be proud of what he gave to our club. Thanks, Jack.

Lever won't go there. I think North have shown how important it is to play your cards closer to your chest. They have been splashed all over the papers for months with this 'warchest' and all they've done is make themselves look desperate. And now that they've missed out on these players they look even more irrelevant than they did before.
-
I always thought this might happen. He'll stick around for another few years and then assess where he's at from there. On the flip side, it once again makes North look like complete mugs. They've had a crack with a 'warchest' full of dollars and no one has gone for it. Doesn't make them look good at all.

http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/teams/western-bulldogs/luke-beveridge-says-decision-to-trade-jake-stringer-was-mutual-between-club-and-player/news-story/f274da3876a106d26dcf77b0124e5a11 I'm sorry if you can't get around the paywall, but Beveridge confirms in this article that they ARE trading Stringer and that it's in the best interests of the club. I don't think we will be a part of this trade at all, but it's still huge to think that they are trading someone so flawed, yet so talented. Reckon someone like the Bombers will pounce on him and stick him in the forward line with Daniher, which will have BT frothing at the mouth.

@stevethemanjordan - have we got him yet or what? I feel like we've been talking about this since 2011.
-
Would have been worse had he compared me to you.
-
Oh, that's low. Almost too low from you, Steve. OTT or not, it was still garbage.
-
Because it's complete and utter rubbish. It's not a rumour, it's garbage. Shout out to @Lucifer's Hero who is never far away from a like when someone takes a pot shot in my direction. Good to see you, too.
-
AFL club staff? Right. I heard that the 'Bont' wants out and has nominated the Dees as his club of choice if we can get the deal done. Sick of the party culture. Get it done, Dees.
-
And just because you 'hear' something off Facebook doesn't mean it's fact, which is what you are trying so hard to pass it off as. Keep trying though, you throw enough darts then you'll hit the board at some stage.
-
Where are you getting your sources, as you've made earlier claims already that proved to be wrong.
-
You wouldn't wish the year he has had on your worst enemy. We know he has talent in bucket loads, now he just needs a stable season to show it on a consistent basis. Can't wait to see that happen in 2018.
-
And that's being generous.
-
If he had to play 20 games next season then I'd agree. But if he ends up just being a handy depth player, filling a few gaps throughout the season when needed, then we might be able to squeeze an extra year out of him. He hasn't played as much footy to this point as others have, so he has a little more mileage left in the legs.
