  1. Cal Twomey said on Sunday he thought this draft had been overrated, I'd believe him before anyone else.
  2. Another way of looking at things is we recruited a few very young guys also who look like they may turn out, Oliver, Weid and Spargo still all babies.
  3. However to put in perspective, we were without: Smith Warner Cummins Pattinson Starc M Marsh Kwahaja
  4. Yeah agree, it was quite odd!
  5. Our best can snatch a flag, our worst misses top 8. That's where we are as a footy club, inconsistent, our old players are old and slow and our kids need another 3 years. Unless club injects some mid 25-28 talent it'll be a bumpy ride, as frustrating as it is!!!
  6. Good point, I have them winning next 4 and at least 6 to EOY
  7. I vaguely remember a game in his first year, I reckon it was v WCE in Perth in the wet, he stood out out that days as having the best skills, one touch disposals, he was streets ahead of anyone on the ground in that department that day. At that moment I thought awesome, he's going to be a star, but has disappointed since. Does anyone remember that game? Maybe it wasn't v WCE?
  8. Hunt must stay and the club needs to go over and beyond to develop him. Reason for this and will impact upcoming trade/draft is there are rule changes coming. Ones that they hope to open the game up more. I'm a bit concerned that we may take a step back with proposed rule changes, we have plenty of meat & potatoes, but not many run and carry speedsters. Salem & Petracca were recruited and noted as having speed but I'm yet to see it. On the other hand, we are in prime position with our key forwards, keeping Hogan is a must, there may be more one on ones and they hope forwards will start kicking 100 in a season again. Guys like Petracca, Harmes as one on one forwards may be benefited by playing forward, but not midfield. I would be surprised if we aren't looking at another KPD, which would free up Lever and Hibberd and co to flanks, Lever is a 3rd man up intercept player, not a KPD. Maybe Goody is ahead of his time with the bomb it in game plan.....?! What we do need is skilled players who can kick, it has been an issue for so long and we still only have 1-2 elite kicks in our team. Having 5-6 elite kicks in our side wins us more games and takes the hard bash and crash out of many contests. It would also have us beating Port by 30+ last week. Hawks were clever years ago, they recruited elite kicks and developed them, making execution of their game plan easier. Apparently the TAC cup is trialling similar rule changes where they have to have 3 in each 50 at every stoppage? I haven't seen it but just heard it talked about and apparently looks good. While I was annoyed Hawks got to trial the proposed rule changes it gives me comfort that they have been trialling similar at U18's so our recruiters would be all over it. Has anyone watched TAC and could speak of these rules and how they're going? I personally think give the draft a miss unless there's a too good to be true player, trade all of our NQRs or guys that haven't bought in for some ready made skilled speedsters, for eg Polec, Burgoyne, Saad, Impey types. Anyway, just my thoughts but I assume the new rule changes will see more power forwards recruited along with run and carry players, whereas in the past maybe more inside players. Always a fascinating time of the year.
  9. Tom McDonald was interrogated from media yesterday and he told them it was none of their business and it was his decision or similar, said he’d be right for Saints and he was OK. Sounded quite bristly and I’m unsure where he’s at. May be some media today but it was quite funny. Basically said [censored] off
  10. Them: ”Expect Geary to return from his left calf strain. Rice should be available too but Webster might not be fit after suffering a strain against Gold Coast. Meanwhile, Acres isn't far away. - Dinny Navaratnam”
  11. New lows after a series whitewash v Poms including a world record 481 in a one dayer FFS.
  12. I was quite surprised, my instant thought was he was captain material so I agree. He was really starting to direct the troops down back. They showed a video of him trying to get weights off the end of the bar with his crutches in the gym which was pretty cool.
  13. Maybe email the club or see if there’s any functions on/corporate box tickets if you want to pay a bit more? May be warmer. It’s bloody cold atm for sure. Sorry I can’t help but others may have better ideas
  14. Lever was AFL Game Day on Sunday, very professional and oozed leadership, very impressive person & level head for his age. I reckon the stint in the coaches box will set him up for a ripper 2019. Anyone else catch it?
  15. Another thing also, players said the club focused on putting the foot down and there was a rumour here we focused on the Crows game from many weeks before (can’t remember the poster), I just hope that the players didn’t get comfortable after that. You can’t criticise their effort v Port, we just cocked it up. Petracca is the one I’d hoped for that role and he may in time, interesting Roos’ comments on the weekend that he sees Petracca as more of a forward than a mid. Brayshaw is the one from what I’ve seen, when he plays midfield he dominates, just needs to tidy up his disposal a little.
  16. Big blow for Pies, I reckon he's their best mid and provides all the run and drive. Sure others like De Goey may step up but he'll be sorely missed. I had them pushing for top 4, be interesting to see how they cope, but have an easy draw
  17. Weird how he just replied and attacked 3 of my posts in succession but not being any decent discussion to the board or even try. On ignore, cheers ?
  18. Wow 3 posts for 3attacks, play the ball not the man, add some value or discussion yourself
  19. There are a lot more floggings this year so hard to tell if clubs are putting the cue in the rack or what’s happening. The big wins are enjoyable but the easy losses are quite frustrating, especially when we know what we’re capable of. Carlton we’re terrible so 109 not surprising, Adel we’re decimated with injury. I just want us to beat the good sides as they’re the ones we could be playing in September
  20. No, we lost round 23 last year, missed finals and we should never have let them beat us. We had won 6 in a row, had a shot at second spot and we weren’t switched on from the first bounce. We should have beaten them and we should never have allowed them to beat us after last year. Passionate I might be, a dill I am not. No [censored] they killed us, captain obvious
  21. I can't name another player, I think Salems kicking has gone backwards or he takes the safe option chip like Lewis. It has been a problem for years, we recruit meat & potatoes, but not match winners. Our captains are two terrible kicks, how inspirational.
  22. His kicking is ordinary, he either tries to kick the air out of the ball and just bombs it constantly. He's not a very good shot at goal for a 'forward' either
  23. Treloar gone for potentially 10 weeks for Pies - Massive loss for them.
