  1. The open mike with Mark Jackson was the most interesting one.
  2. I really believe the team will rally on Monday and win this. Its obviously a last ditch chance for finals. Goodys back is against the w All we need do is just bring our best , it will do. I'd like to some decent physicality against this mob that bullies us and gets away with it all top often. Both Jake and Kozzie to have a big day out.
  3. I concur with your hope in Jvr He has shown great talent in the past , so we know it's there. I've seen him get down on himself after an error and he may struggle to keep his mind on the job. I've never questioned his resolve and commitment. I think being dragged into ruck duties hasn't helped him focus on being a fwd. At least for the time being but it's why he may get the nod over others at times. He seems to have toned down his aggression and I wonder if that's had an impact. I've always wondered if he hits the ball at too much speed with his hands. Perhaps needs to just "drop" them back a millisecond prior to marking to cushion the impact. And your right, he's still young. His body will mostly fill out some more and he will learn more tricks of the trade So no astute supporter would write this kid off. And I do hope he comes back in such away to stick it up so many here. Finally, has he played with Melksham in the fwd line yet? I'm wondering if with other fwds firing, it would take the pressure of Roo so as he can maybe just enjoy himself out there and be less anxious about being our \main scorer.
  4. Yes we can't expect Max to fly solo and Jvr is the best back up. Maybe Jeffo as the sub as he definitely sounds like he deserves a go from the reports I've read. Form must be rewarded. It's hard because Fritta has improved a little and Jm stays. Can Jvr play in a defensive capacity? Why we didn't find a proper back up for Max that can play forward after we lost Jackson and then Grundy is a mystery. I also think Jvr being forced to play in the middle has impeded his ability as a fwd at times. We went from twice having two premier rucks to just one. And despite Max being as fit as he is, it must take a toll on him. The club has been caught napping in this department.
  5. We have demonstrated on a few occasions this year our best is as good as the top teams. We are capable of beating the pies . The question is which Melbourne will turn up. We will have to work even harder to compensate for our atrocious goal kicking. Win this and we are a small chance of playing finals again. But only just. And of course, lose it , and it's all over. Huge game. I hope the boys really show up and give the pies some stick although if Viney and AJ aren't playing, I'm not sure who will do this. I also think this game will determine in part, Goodys tenure. I think missing finals two years in a row will be the end of him and probably good for the club. I find his stubbornness frustrating and not an asset. Petty kept as a fwd is a prime example. He just isn't. Maybe a handful of good games there, but he doesn't average more than a goal a game. I think it's 0.7. That's nowhere near good enough. Let the bloke excel where he always has. In the backline. Credit to Goody for trying him there but now it's become a mistake and one he keeps doing. Own it Simon. Change it. Let's play Turner or May fwd and see if we can kick a big score. And before anyone cites the Swans and lions games that was down to KP and JM. I mean it's not like we have a great deal to lose at this point in time. We need a fwd line that can take a least a few contested marks. Petty isn't strong enough in his legs to do this. Fritta takes high marks or goals out the back.Melksham on the lead.Jvr the same. And given our penchant for bombing the ball in so much, a strong player that can take a pack mark is a necessity.Snd while Max can, he can't be everywhere and he's not the most accurate set shot. So please Goody mix things up.
  6. Goody on 360 waxing lyrical about Williams. " He's one of the best in the business." Really. And then goes on about how the Nt game isn't more than just about footy per se. And then when pressed if you have to win them? Absolutely that's what's it's all about. He would make a great politician. On a more positive note, it was great to see Flash being interviewed and selected to go down the slide. Humble guy who has little to be humble about. Great sense of humor and one of our very good players.
  7. Thanks for this. If May was forward I think we would move Petty back. That leaves us with him, Lever, Disco and Tmac . Ideally we want the Lever of old back to play May forward. And then if he was doing well we would have the option of swinging Disco forward well. I think May, Turner, Fritta and Melksham fwd would be very interesting. Plus the option of Jvr.
  8. Your esteemed opinion on May forward? I think " may" have asked you before but can't remember. Surely worth a try. I really don't think Petty is the answer forward. He hasn't kicked many goals at all.
  9. You can't change everything by training. But it's a pretty safe bet we don't do anywhere near enough in this area. In fact they should triple whatever time currently spent on it. And then some. Maybe the club doesn't want to make it more of an issue from a mindset angle. But it could not get much worse anyway. Max and Tracca are the main offenders. I hate to criticize them. But as the two biggest leaders in the club it's not a good example. Surely the person responsible for it needs to be sacked ASAP. Too little, too late. Good bye and don't let the door hit you on the way out.
  10. May forward would really be an exciting experiment. I think I put in a thread once and I was surprised how many were against it. Surely worth a try. We have the players to cover him. And I think he would be much better than Petty I've been hoping for a forward that has strength through his entire core. Someone like Melksham but bigger. I imagine the old ff who stands strong in a pack and marks. Not easily jostled away. Petts has many skills but I'd argue he gets pushed out of the comp too easy. I wanted to ask peeps if they think Goody is often too slow to make changes during a game? And stubborn in reversing previous calls. And not one to take risks. Maybe May is a good example. But v the Saints , I thought he could have moved Turner earlier or isolated KP fwd. Didn't seem to do much for me.
  11. I detect a faint note of sarcasm in your post. And you know what they say about sarcasm. I think saying if we lose this one then a change of coach isn't unreasonable. If we lose, one could well argue that he hasn't turned our season around. I actually think we will win but in light of three years of poor goal kicking and a number of other factors, losing it is probably a fair litmus test for changing our coach. Not the end of the world . For me it's not really sacking the coach per se. It's really thinking of the benefit of changing one. I don't want three years of no finals. But that's just me. ( Oh sorry I was being sarcastic there). So yea it's pretty reasonable. So maybe cut the the sarcasm and be open to reason. Or not. But please don't be boring. I'm asking nicely. Cheers.
  12. Out... Rubbish goal kicking. Laziness Maybe Goody. Last chance for.me. In Players that don't give up so easily. Some ticker. And some more of what we showed in the two games prior to the saints.
  13. Started complacent and finished more so. Still there to be won in the last ten minutes but we just stopped. No leadership outside of a few and it was a sad sight to see given how much was at stake. Just our season. And given how hard we worked and played to turn things around, I don't get why we played the way we did, coached the way we did and then threw in the tell when we were only three goals down. Probably our worst game for the year. And I'm not alone calling for the end of NT games . Max has always been a barometer of our games. And he wasn't too bad but unfortunately Oliver is now one that is a telling player. I don't like to criticize him , so I'll just point out, when he is at his best, it makes a huge difference. Fritta tried but had no support in an injured Melksham, a casual KP who was well tagged and Petty who is still out of his depth as a fwd. After so many games there, it's time to move him back. Alas I fear unless we can beat the pies it's all over. Still a glimmer of hope but like north Melbourne you can't afford to drop these ones. You have to question Goodys effort v the saints. Moved Turner too late. Could have moved Kp or CO fwd. Laurie isn't a great Sub and Lever isn't ready. I really wouldn't mind seeing Goody throw the odd tantrum and drag players more often. I don't know why but it would at least make me feel better when I constantly see goal kicking like that.
  14. Off topic, it has only been recently that Melksham has played well consistently. I always thought he struggled to string good games together. I'm not sure if his shoulder troubled him but I hope he hasn't gone back to JM of old. Don't get me wrong he had a great purple patch before he did his knee but prior to that I stand by my observation. Having said that he's been a big difference this year, except last weekend. He and KP are are now are key goal kickers. Saints tagged KP well and JM hurt his shoulder. And I really think Sparrow offers the most as a forward in the Tracc or Harmes mould. Hard to match up on. Fast, strong and accurate. In any case I'll keep shouting to move Petty back in defence. It's from, Jvr, AJ, TS, Fritta, JM and my wish list....Turner. That's a goal scoring combo there with KP isolated Fwd at times. Why the latter didn't happen v st kild is strange. Not like KP was having a day out. Goody is just too slow to make changes. Always has been. Sometimes a good thing. More often not. I'm pretty sure he won't be out coach next year. Ultimately as head coach our kicking errors must be upon on him. No learnings or excuses. The buck stops somewhere. Or should with him.
  15. Not having a dig at you here PF but I'd give you a few weeks as courtesy coach. At least there would be no free rides. Although you can't play Jeffo non stop. I get we want Lever playing but it was tough on Tmac who gives so much to this club and wasn't playing poorly anyway. Lever is too injury prone at this stage in his career so I'm not sure what we can do about him. But he didn't improve much v Saints when we really struggled down back in the first. At least May came good and as long as Lever keeps playing like this we can't afford to shift Turner. Why Petty is still forward is a mystery I'll never understand.
