Not sure after Weid leaving we didn't find another big fwd as insurance. We seem top heavy with mids for some reason. Given Tmacs age and foot issues and Bbbs end of year dip in form, it may have been prudent to find an experienced chf. Maybe nobody was available.

So what: our game stands on its own merits as the country's national football game. Crowd numbers are great. I suppose transferring lions and swans worked but it's hard to see how clubs from scratch in no man's land can thrive. Maybe gws will linger but I reckon the sun's will fold. Would be great for Tassie to get a club. The only plus is the round we play sun's is always 4 points.

GTfU? Get a grip. Complaining about umps is a national pass time. And rightly so. Have you never questioned an umpires call? Umps are human and often get duped by players and crowds. So it's frustrating. To say they never make a difference is akin to saying why have them. It's silly. Many matches have been decided by bad calls.

In hindsight I should have known this would have been a tough game. Viney and Fritta playing their first games after injury meant they would struggle. No May and no kossie. It's a tough parochial crowd that sway umpires. Max going down was a huge loss. But all that aside our basic skills were shocking and I've never seen our mids smashed like they were. It happens. Great see Trac owning it in after the game interview. Petty too was uncharacteristically terrible. Harmes and Tmac and Melksham had shockers to boot. Grundy had zero marks. Not good for a ruckman. Kudos to Bbb and Lever. I'm sure we will regroup. I just hope Max is OK.

It's not an excuse but the umpiring WAS putrid. Lions players milked frees and got two gimmees directly in front of goal.

It worries me that Grundy as our sole ruck took zero marks. Also Melksham had four touches. Hopefully Max will be OK and we reset.
