  1. Our forward line needs to be a priority imho.
  2. I've been thinking about the travel requirements of interstate clubs and the advantages of home crowds. I said home crowds rather than home games because I think there is a big difference. Last week against Power at their HG it was a full house in a small ground. I think the players and umps hear a lot more noise than our HG. We lose advantage at the G because it's a 100k ground and we sometimes don't fill a quarter of it. The noise factor isn't there. Also there are more supporters of interstate sides living in Melbourne than Dees fans in Pert or Adelaide. Also, interstate sides are more familiar playing at the G than we are at Gabba or Optus eg. Just saying.
  3. The Irony being that we were the only team likely to beat the cats given we were in their heads Rent free from 21.
  4. Our forward line really crumbled after Tmac was injured last year and has remained pretty much broken up to now. A lot needs to align for a flag and clearly a lot more for subsequent ones. This is history unfolding before us. Not many clubs win back to back or the 2nd year after. It gives me new respect for teams like the lions winning 3 in a row. The comp was more uneven back then but it's an incredible ammount of team inertia and passion.
  5. Sadly for me, I thought that when their prime ruck went off the ground we would walk home against their 2nd in Jackson. So much for "booing him."
  6. Ironically it will probably be us do beat them on Kb. Don't ask me why.
  7. Yep. Now that, I've accepted this, as painful as it is, it helps. Collingwood is the new 21 us. I kinda got this feeling about we we sit, against the Suns game. I just hope that despite dropping games to lower sides on our home ground, we take a few scalps as well. I think we might scrape into the top 4 on%. Notwithstanding the Pies, it is a tight competition. Really lamenting the squandered opportunity of last years chance. It didn't phase me as much then, because I was still high on the flag fumes. Maybe the players were as well. It happens.
  8. Your not alone it thinking this. Given that Oliver wasn't playing, it was a bit of a no brainer. JV had a very unusual one kick, one handball and no marks tally for the entire first half. Goody is a premiership coach and maybe him being stuck in his ways served us well in 21. It didn't yesterday.
  9. In 21, the team looked like it couldn't wait to get on the ground and play. Not now.
  10. I disagree they are a good side on the following basis. The only top eight team they have beaten is us. All their other wins were against sides below them and outside the top 8. Now at number 8 via points, their % is well below the next 2 teams at 9 and 10. By good, if you mean they beat us, then therein lies the rub.
  11. But 2 of those teams mentioned are also outside the top 8. I
  12. To be honest, I have no idea. You could drop a lot of players but I don't feel we have the depth.
  13. It's great to be positive but freo are not a good side. They lost to norf at home. What will actually happen when we play a good side is a real concern.
  14. You could realistically drop 8 players from today. But rhe truth is there is nobody in the wings. We lack depth.
  15. There is something nqr with us for sure. I remember delighting in 21, how they would all come down the race to the start of each game, laughing and enjoying themselves. Not anymore on both sides of the fence.
  16. I hear you. ( the aids are in).
  17. It was unfortunate in a game when we really need Jv to step up that he couldn't. We'll done Freo for tagging out his effectiveness. It's not often Jv gets 2 touches in a half but probably the worst time for it to happen. I don't know why Chandler or Kozzie weren't given a run on the ball.
  18. Does the term premiership hangover apply the 2nd year after as well? I guess so. This touted list of ours doesn't seem recognizable.
  19. I do agree. I also think May has dropped off to. What was once touted as the games best 2 defenders combo seems to have gone the way of our 2 best ruckman, our forward line and our midfield has now seems to give us the quaddie.
  20. That loss hirt on so many levels. 1. Norf beat freo at Optus. 2. Captain and Co captain were ordinary again. 3. May and Lever were too. 4. So many previously good players like Langdon, Spargo and Anb having really poor seasons. 5. Our forward line a complete shambles again. 6. The main one. Confirms what we mostly suspected after the sun's game this year, that we are very ordinary and will make up the numbers. That our window has slammed shut.
  21. Yea but that would require a decision from the coach though.
  22. Apologies to all Dees fans who bought tickets.
