  1. You are correct with this statement. But I took that into account with these blokes who have the least. A good defender like Bowey averages just under 3 per game. The ones I mentioned have around one. I think our backline has gone backwards so to speak the last two years a part of it has been less chasing and tackling We don't seem to put opposition fwds under as much duress like we used too. It's something we have lacked up fwd this year with Fritta being a big offender. He's lifted a lot and it's impacted the rest of his game. It may seem like a small things but it's the basics that need to be done when your down. Look at the lack of forward pressure there was v saints in the last.
  2. McVee, Salem and Howes simply don't apply anywhere near enough tackles. Every week Viney has more than those three combined.
  3. Great stuff. Well and truly on track to have last week's record erased.
  4. This except from the Age..... Legend says Demons coach could be axed after loss AFL great Matthew Lloyd says Demons coach Simon Goodwin could be sacked if Melbourne loses to West Coast in round 21. The story to come out of that record loss re saints has accelerated the questioning of SG tenure at the club. A loss v WC will really get the ball moving so to speak. For me the loss summarized the club beautifully. We can beat the lions at the Gabba. Not for some really poor umpiring v the pies we would have one. Our first quarter v the saints compared to our last is just the same. We are really good and really bad. We don't know which club will turn up. The saints game gave us our monies worth and we got both versions. Such variations are a coaching issue. Despite all the errors SG makes the extremes of performance are always the fault of the coach. He's now from and centre in the media and will eventually be sacked. Sonner then would be more beneficial. Or he could resign but they never seem too. Make the call now a MFC, so next year won't be as painful.
  5. I hope our backline pulls it's finger out. Mcvee Tmac Turner Salem All four of these players combined had less than Bowey's total of five tackles. Mcvee and Tmac had zip. That's just not acceptable. Viney managed seventeen.
  6. I've tried. Im struggling to get past Olivers kick where a measly point would have sealed it. But no he couldn't manage that. He does the strangest things. He was in tonnes of space and running when he decides to handball it to Spargo who has a saints playing sitting on him. Then by only sheer luck, Oliver gets the ball back and completely fluffs his kick on goal despite being only 20 m out. For a gun mid....C O hardly ever contributes to our goal tally. He averages only 0.2 goals a game or four a year. Yikes. But he disposal for the last two years has been woeful. He has gone into see ball get ball which he has always done very well to now just getting rid of ball ASAP regardless of where it goes.....ergo Spargo. Also who do we pin the six six six infringement upon. It never happens. So it especially should have happened in a game like this and when it did. I fear all the players felt this game slipping away from them like the Carlton final a few years ago. Ok the stakes were not as high but deep down I think they all felt that a massive result in huge comeback was brewing and they all started to panic. Why didn't they slow things down? Why did we up the tempo and fall into saints trap? Why are we still kicking at goal so poorly? The only positive will be a change of coach. There is something seriously wrong with this club and it's hard to pinpoint it. I'm afraid the worse thing that seems to stand out is that we are mentally soft. Hence our panicking. At our best we can beat the lions and almost the pies. At our best we can start like we did v the saints. That game showed both sides of us. At our worse we give up a 50 point lead in the last But seeing Melksham and KP on the bench in the last few minutes certainly was poor coaching and getting rid of Goody ist least a start.
  7. If Goody's tenure is still intact after that disgraceful record than I'm not sure any change is possible. And this is as constructive as it gets. Surely it starts with a new coach. Then we sort out our list. Then our style of footy. We establish a decent ground for training and more social opportunities for.members. More games outside of the constant Sundays. More pushback to the AFL. Less games at Kardinia. No more NT games where nobody supports us anyway. No more tolerance of umpiring like the pies games. Fighting back on inconsistent bans on players. Sacking everyone remotely involved in our goal kicking coaching. More drive and incentives to lure more members. As the club named after the city we should be first choice for new supporters coming to the city and or sport. More family friendly environments at the ground. I'm sick of abusive and dodgy cwood supporters intimidating people. One should find footy a safe place to be. Alas , . this is drifting of course but it's still relevant. Finally, letters like the one posted here from Brad Green should be questioned. It wasn't a genuine letter expressing concern about performance. It appeared to be a veiled reprimand and warning about inappropriate comments towards the Coach. And while of course no threats are appropriate, they are a totally separate issue. By all means call them out but not in the same letter about the clubs super poor efforts. Thank you Mr Green for chastising the psycho making threats but where's the letter solely about the worst game of footy for decades? Until that comes, I doubt the club is really bothered. And that's been an issue for a while now. No wonder it's been so long between flags. If you want constructive criticism....you've come to wrong club brother. Its been given for three years and ignored. No ....now is the time to vote with our wallets before we are staring down another fifty years death of success.
  8. Seeing Melksham and Kozzie on the bench when the game was being taken from us was a sight we should never have seen. What was Goody thinking? We have paid a fortune for KP and rightly so. Bit to have him on the bench at all after St Kilda did a bang bang bang was a total brain fade by the coach. He was clearly a good coach in years gone by. In fact a great coach. But something has changed. I don't want to be too negative after some psychopath has made online threats but the club must start to consider replacing him after all this . It started as soon as we won a flag. We didn't replace lost fwds.or ruckd Smith. Jackson. Tmac( moved to defence) Hannan. Pederson. Hogan. Grundy. Nup. We had two of the best rucks about to now having to use Roo or Petty now. And we have done nothing for four years to amend our woeful goal kicking. We didn't play Grundy in finals. We had a four game kid in Laurie as the sub for Gus. Hardly Like for like and that selection alone cost us a flag. And when he does intitiate a change, it's always too little and too late. On Sunday after Fritta had stopped I called for KP to be isolated ff. Instead he was benched. Good heavens. Where do I get a job like this? No performance standards and heaps of cash.
  9. Id take anything for Sparrow. In fact I'd pay whatever to have him move on.
  10. Good point about banning people who make threats. They don't belong anywhere near any footy ground. Well done.
  11. , I find it a waste of time to concentrate on the final few moments when utter confusion reigned. Forget the 6-6-6 mess, the failure to mark the most dangerous man on the field, the inability to seal the game when opportunities presented themselves to Clayton Oliver, Harry Petty and Charlie Spargo, the vision of match winning players of recent weeks in Kozzy Pickett and Jake Melksham spending helpless minutes on the interchange bench and the powerlessness of seizing the opportunity to slow the tempo of the game down in those final moments. I was trying to forget all this.
  12. If Oliver and Tracc want to leave I would let them. But we play hard ball. As for Goody and the payout, given the prediction of support dropping off and games won, it will be worth paying it. Anyone who leaves Petty in the same position for two years needs to go a year ago. Just saying.
  13. It would be a nice gesture.
  14. Oh come on Next youl be stating Maynards dirty ko on poor Gus was a footy act.
  15. Can't say I really learnt anything. Threats are clearly wrong. But some real ownership would be good.
  16. Some mumbling and murmers in the media already about Goody going. It's starting.
  17. Yep And bonus points Bb for sneaking in the words miscreants. Or in this case Miscresaints. Well done.
  18. I'm really curious why you are saying it's dribble? There are some fairly accurate descriptions in there. Id say the majority of them are. Yes it was a totally abysmal last quarter but so was the saints first. I am assuming with your three quarter reference that it was accurate up until then. And for the most part it was. So you either think it's all wrong or just from the perspective of the last fraction. Can you at least be a little bit more constructive and explain which parts are wrong. Yes it was a shocking finish. An albatross of a record hanging around our necks. Bl##dy hell. We've gone from when will we break these embarrassing records to adding new ones so I clearly get your anger and frustration. I know I'm angry. But this post wasn't dribble. Yes up until the three quarter mark it was very accurate. So where does it need to change? My two cents is Goody. He completely froze. Saints starting with a bang bang bang including a 2021 gf Tracca dribble goal identical replica along the ground. Bang bang bang in under 3 mins is 8 goal margin to under five. Ok still fairly winnable for us.. A couple more in around five mins and it a three goal game. Holy cow. Goody still asleep. Not a single change bar Spargo as sub but that was made before three quarter time. So a mute point. No the reality of this fiasco was a few things. Fritta went totally missing at half time after setting up a decent lead. Back to Fritta of old in the second but still a very decent game. Tracca and Oliver were good. In particular Tracca who had a great first half but like Oliver missed an absolute sitter at goal. And then like a magic trick vanished at three quarter time. Those two misses there are the game gone. They are pathetic goal kickers. It has to be said . As I mentioned prior Oliver kicks ONE GOAL Every FIVE GAMES. Four a year. Good Lord And Tracca like Max isn't a great deal better. So after kicking straight still performed much worse than the saints in this department. McVee did nothing...just a game. Sopt on. Was him with his brain fade with the 50 mp. Also the umpirimg was again average. The amount of times we were called out for not fifty play on to the saints was four times to zip. Disgraceful. Petty worse. Not on field....truly apt description. But always the case. Not sure if he had one touch in the last. One. Our leading tall. Four for the game. Our leading tall. Good God. Get him off. Or back down back. If he hasn't been totally destroyed in confidence yet. Well done Simon. Way to destroy a blokes promising career. No your comment here was harsh. What happened? Our midfield got absolutely smashed in the last and on the few occasions when it when the pill got fwd, the fwd line was all at sea as mentioned. But then our backline couldn't handle the speed and transition and accuracy the way the ball came in. We looked cooked. But Goody could have made some changes. He could have moved Kp fwd to ff. And Jake to the middle. Or Disco fwd. Anyway we were more than completive for three quarters and just completely imploded in the last amplified by a totally dosey coach. We did exceptionally well for 75% of the game when the saints did even better in the last 25. So yea we did some things right so a lot of the positives in Joeboys summation hold up. It's not dribble. I suggest you take your justified anger out at the club and the coach and some of the players that lost this game rather than a committed supporter like JB that adds a lot to this site. Please don't be so arrogant and diss his comments off as dribble. I would not do that to your opinions. Most wouldn't. And I'm sure you rightly wouldn't appreciate it. It's not just rude. It's lazy and somewhat lacking in decent assessment to say the least. I'm trying to say this politely as I can but your way out of line and temperament. I may not agree with people but calling their opinions dribble or rubbish is tantamount to having a go at the poster. As all MFC supporters we are better than this. Attacks like yours are pretty close to port supporters territory. Not you yourself but the word is something they would say. And not because they don't have any teeth and dribble all there food. You know what I mean Thanks Billy. Hang in there mate...this may mean the end of SG and a new start next year. It may be the end of the Petty experiment. But I reckon that will.only go when Goody finally does. It may mean Sparrow is dropped. It could be the start of some decent rumblings from lots of members and less renewals and numbers at games. At lot of times particularly in AFL things need to get worse before they get better. Well yesterday was hopefully a start. It's certainly gotten a lot worse. Good luck talking your way out of this one. If it's anything to do with more learnings, changes and game plan than please by all means go ahead and do us all a favor and call it DTIBBLE Cheers.
  19. I still fondly recall the Jvr incident and all the support here that night. I think there were seriously over two hundred Demonlanders lurking here. I sat down listening to some posts from the expert witnesses and their outrageous qualifications and computer modeling. It was one for the ages and my selection of cheeses and fine wines made it for a most memorable moment. The deliberations took hours and hours. I swear those at the tribunal were going through the all you could eat buffet. But it was great to see so many Demonlanders with a cornucopia of funny names Id never heard of. Alas after quaffing so much Penfolds I can't even recall if he was acquitted but it was the camaraderie that made it all so special. And of course the vino. Give em hell Maysie. Perhaps one last hurrah by running through the tribunal judges with an elbow tucked in just right so that it is the perfect footy act. And see how well they can then hold down there roast beef and prawn salads. And if the worst should transpire and the three weeks stands you can always just tell them you've retired effective immediately just to take the glee out of their sales. And then sign up next year. Never forget that they work for the AFL and are all as crooked as hell. More so than those me maggots masquerading as umpires these days. Lower than cockroaches and probably just as dirty. There i actually feel a little better. Hang on. Did I memtion that umpires are only put there because society understands they are not fit for any other role. And that they make up the rules as they go along. Yep now I feel better. Maybe some more Penfolds. This is what they do to me. Thank you. Go Maysie.
  20. Yes you can probably tell I'm angry Tracca and Oliver were pretty good yesterday. Well Tracca was. Except CP showed his significant problems with kicking goals. Again. They both did and they cost us the game with their inaccuracy once again. Tracc is probably one of the worst in the comp. Certainly at the MFC. It's is a shocking part of his game and ai feel because of this he is overated. Imagine if he could finish all his good work off and score more frequently. Oliver isn't great either. This led me to looking at most of our players in this area. I was shocked to discover that Oliver only manages an average of only one goal every five games he plays. That's pretty damning. Yes despite both dropping in form the last couple of years .....these two have been prolific ball winners. But kicking goals is important for midfielders and these two have struggled big time. Max struggles too. As do quite a few other non fwds. This all means extra pressure for our fwds to kick more goals. And they have been struggling for a long time doing this. In 2021 we had a plethora of players kicking over 20 goals for the season. Including smalls like Spargo and Anb. Now our leading forwards are struggling to manage over 20 for the year. Doesn't matter how good our backline is, if we don't kick goals we don't win. So as bad as it is with our failing fwd line in the last few years it's been made worse by all our other non fwds not contributing. And when they do...they usually miss. Then we have the issue of Petty. He's our tallest forward and has had the job for a full two years. He averages under a goal a game or under 20 a year. He's our best tall forward. That alone reveals a lot. How are you going to win games when your best tall fwd can hardly manage to get on the Coleman board. And that position call has been well and truly driven by Goody I have no idea why he's been hell bent on playing him there but it's now almost comical except we now hold yesterdays embarrassing record. Something I hope brings about Goody s exit from the club But that would involve someone having to make a decision so it probably won't happen. He'll probably be there next year when we hobble together another six or seven wins and then the club decides to do something about the membership drop off and complaining from supporters. But that will be three years too many. With too much damage and exodus of good players. Well for me if Goody is there next year the club won't get a cent from me and not will I go to any games. I know that doesn't help but I can't support the club in any fashion with SG at the helm. I can be as stubborn as him. It's a shame he won't resign and will eventually be sacked. I would like to hear about his learnings in his sacking press conference. Anyway, we lost to St kilda in Nt not long ago due to laziness and terrible kicking. Yesterday while our kicking was better we still missed too many easy shots. As mentioned by Oliver and Tracc missing two absolute sodas that would have sealed it. And Petty kicked zero goals once again. And laid two whole tackles. Compare that to Viney who kicked a goal and managed to lay 17 tackles. Petty garnished his usual tally of five disposals but I guarantee you, he will line up again next week. Same with players like Sparrow. But with Petty being given chance after chance for two whole years just doesn't add up. What's going on? Why is Goody so stubborn about all this and call the experiment dead. In fact it died 18 months ago and will not be resurrected. How can I support the club when this keeps going on? I can't. And I have a feeling I'm certainly not alone in feeling this way. I just hope that we all join together and send the club a message by not going to games and not taking out new memberships. Unfortunately it's up to those who care the most. And yes it will be tough but it will definitely be for the best. SG is not the coach to lead this club anymore. Our lack of fwds, our playing blokes out of position, failure to make changes during games....like when the Saints kicked three in a row, gifting games continuously and failure to fix our goal kicking is just way too much for way too long. #Goodyneedstogo.
  21. Oliver never scores any goals. Tracca is an atrocious set shot. They are so overated now. It was Viney who stood out today. Tracca lacks fitness and is slowing big time. Oliver just throws the ball on his boot without looking. Salem too has joined them. And our leadership down back today was totally missing. And for the 50 th time....Petty ain't a forward Simon You need to learn this. Why can't you accept it and move on. Just why?
  22. The stubbornness of Goody playing Petty fwd for two years now is mind blowing. Week after week and month after month we've all called it out. But nup. Goody just keeps doubling down. I hope today he's doubled down on a new job at McDonald's.
  23. You won't be alone And it probably needs to be done by us all. Then the club will have to listen. It's the one real thing that will.make them do something. I think Goody must know his time is up. He froze again today and did nothing to stop the rot. Fritta had clearly disappeared from the game at half time. He could have.moved KP up fwd rather than having him and Melksham on the bench for the last 3 minutes. Disgraceful. Vote with your money/ membership. It's the best way to.make them do something.
