PREGAME: Rd 21 vs North Melbourne
I think Sparrow is the obvious choice to replace Woey. Taj has been good and glad the club has given him time but he's on the cusp of best 22 for me. I thought the club would play Grundy so Max gets to play about 75% bit wondering now if Jvr plays more ruck. Ideally I would love Hibbo to play but can't work out who gets dropped for him.

Have we officially found our full forward?
Credit to Goody for revisiting the Petty asa forward experience. I thought it was done and dusted and couldn't work out why he supposedly chucked it in. I Guess Tommos good form gave him some freedom to try once more. So glad he did. I think Petty has returned to his proper position.

The Run Home
Fair call JG. I think odds suggest that you are right. Having said that if we beat the blues and then hawks we will well and truly have some steam up with a lot at stake at the Scg. We don't have a great record there but playing for second spot or would help. Buddy not playing on some super send off doesn't hurt our chances either. Hopefully by then Sydney's finals hopes are mathematically impossible. Also how tremendous it would be going into finals with that many wins on the trot with Fritta and Oliver back . I hope this doesn't sound too delusional.😀

The Run Home
I'm not having a crack at anyone here but fully agree with you on Bbb. I still have some hope he can play again. That aside I've never understood some of the criticism of him. Some of it right from the start. He was a leading j and a goal scorer for three consecutive years fgs at North. And yes played a huge part in helping us win a flag in 21. I get that he's probably not up to it now but like Tmac it's not a matter of will or form. I believe their downturn has been completely injury related.

A month until television finals.
Absolutely. Although for me that involves a ten hour drive. I'm wondering now if interest rates and living costs are impacting on attendance. Certainly a months Kayo sub is cheaper than going to one game. But thanks for supporting the team in person.

Have we officially found our full forward?
Thanks. I forgot about Smith Tommo didn't have a great one against the Tigers but I rate him very highly. All will be well.

Have we officially found our full forward?
To play the devils advocate here, will Petty playing forward depend on Tommos future performance?

A month until television finals.
I pay 30 pesos a month for two devices. My mate next door uses it and buys me beer. For what it's worth I don't have any problems with it ever. Good pic quality and never drops out.

Community service announcement. Times are tough. Since Kayo bills in advance, don't forget to cancel soon. Cheers.

Finals preference
I want to finish second and then humiliate port in our first final. Next option is playing the pies. There is no reason we can't finish second. If port drop a game especially at kardinia then our destiny is on our hands. Just beat Norf and win our last three games. Not impossible by any stretch. The hawks won't be difficult. The blues will be tough and I think even though our record at the scg isn't great, the swans season will be over and Franklin won't be doing some send off game.

The Run Home
Me too but I've come to the point that I probably dislike Port just as much. At least their supporters

Have we officially found our full forward?
Good point. I guess where we have been struggling to find forwards the cupboard is bearer when it comes to tall defenders. We really only have Smith. The club probably should have seen some of this coming. Tommo was injured and Tmac and Bbb have been showing signs for a good length of time now. Hibbo is getting past it and May will probably be around for only another couple of years or so. Time to definitely go shopping for some tall key positional players this year. And time to face some cold hard facts and swing the axe.

Have we officially found our full forward?
I don't think it's too early to make that call. If anything there's no more time left to be changing much. There are four games left until finals and we need to be settled in our structure. And as you adroitly pointed out by kicking six it was more than a pass. Also with Fritta sidelined, it puts more pressure on getting things sorted now rather than trying someone else in a couple of weeks. Ideally he claims and dominates the job next season as well but there's no time left anymore and to be frank nobody else to really try other than Smith.

Have we officially found our full forward?
Hopefully he's our new Tom Mac. A gun tall who can be swung back in defence if needs be. And like a Tm he's a very accurate shot at goal. With Jvrs athleticism Id prefer he be our Chf and Petty at Ff. His first full and propper game as a forward and boy he smashed it. And what a time to make his mark. Bbb and Tmac bodies seemed to have stopped them both and Schache didn't excel in the role and Fritta sidelined. I didn't mind Smith fwd but now it seems redundant. Which is good because I think Smith is a good defender and also the perfect sub who can fill many roles. The good dilemma now is if we can play Fritta alongside Melksham. I think we can. So I would have... Chandler......Petty...........Fritta. Melksham.......Jvr ............Kozzie.

The Run Home
Not to mention travelling eight times and the usual trip to Kardinia that most vic clubs avoid all the time. We must be doing something right.

Have we officially found our full forward?
I don't know anything about Swan but I must ask if prior to his debut, if he was a proven Afl player like Petty has been albeit in a different role. I could understand if Petty had come from the Magoo's to make his mark but he's been a great player for us for the last three years. Just saying . I know it's early but I can't imagine someone like Petty falling in a heap. He probably won't go on and kick big scores but it was his ten marks that impressed me. Something that we desperately needed up forward. He also proved a great foil so as to allow the others to kick plenty of goals

CASEY: Rd 19 vs Williamstown
I say that's the case. He's a good at rucking but modern footy requires a good ruckman to be able to drop back and defend and to move forward and be an option. You don't have to perfect in these roles but you do need to mark. The same reason he doesn't play as an effective forward is the same reason he doesn't perform in other roles. Grundy has soft hands and can't adequately fullfil these roles.on top of all this, it seems by not playing as much, Max has dropped in form. The whole experience hasn't panned out the way we hoped but the upside is that the club has recognized this and made the hard calls necessary. We were fortunate enough to have Grundy play when Max was injured and as a second ruck he's a pretty good one for sure. But on his money and reputation , I can't imagine that's a role he's going to relish and he will move on.

POSTGAME: Rd 20 vs Richmond
The umps gave the tigers a pretty generous run in the first half. We were tackling much more than them and had several tackles go unrewarded. I think their supporters got use to it. Also possibly their players. So when the whistle finally came out and they got pinged several times they were very upset . The Kozzie one must have sent them over the edge. So sad.😀

POSTGAME: Rd 20 vs Richmond
There must be quite a few coaches that would be worried by what they saw yesterday. Firstly the incredible form of Max who has been well below his best since Grundy started playing. But yesterday Max simply went to a new level. He monstered it with his contested possessions and I think he was the best in the comp for this round. Given that he bairly touched the ball in the first half , this is a telling statistic. Secondly, Melksham played another very good game and I imagine his size would be hard to match up. Thirdly, Oliver and Fritta are still in the wings. Finally there was Petty who played his first full game as a forward and kicked SIX goals. Obviously we need Oliver back ASAP but it seems with Max getting his hands on the ball like that, our midfield is even stronger. And now we also have a forward line that is tall and mobile and accurate and strong in marking. Our backline did look a little troubled at times ..May looked a little fumbly and Salo was slow to get going but the ball was moving at a very fast pace. Tommo didn't play at his best either but I was glad that Lever seemed a lot better . Besides we have the option of bringing Hibbo back who has from what understand been playing well at Casey. With him , Oliver and Fritta this is a team with many options and playing well. The stars are aligning at just the right time. Hopefully the cats beat power at kardinia this weekend and we climb into second spot with a good percentage win over North. From there on, destiny is in our hands and we can secure a home final against power or lions.
