  1. Jones started the essendon game off half back as well im not sure if he lasted there past the first quater but i know he eventually got swapped to the middle because it want working early. I do however think it might be worth persisting... having a "see ball, get ball" type player in defence is a little different but i like it. And i think we can all agree Hogs CHF is better than FF but im not convinced the club sees it that way, for now anyway.
  2. This is why modern teams are shooting up the ladder like port a few years ago and more recently west coast and the bulldogs, because once it starts working it can become very effective. Unfortunatly before then it is very ugly.
  3. I'm not saying Jetta would line up on Petrie im saying because of the zone petrie can walk into Jetta's "area" and instantly become his responsibility. I dont mean to single out jetta he is just short and an easy example but too many times in the first 2 weeks players like Daniher and Lobb have taken marks over the top of jetta, and garland simply because this zone isnt holding up and its to hard for the short player to compete. also happened a few times in the NAB challenge.. If they add Dunn/Oscar back in that will low the chances of such large miss matches but they are still inevitable. When it all coes down to it, although i criticise this plan alot it would work much better if we didnt turn the ball over so easily. Yeah i see your point but i still feel that it is very vulnerable to miss matches becase of the area they need to protect. I hope im wrong and they can sort it out. Short term pain for long term gain... but god i think after all the pain we have had over the years. Seeing players kick easy goals or take contested marks against little blokes due to this defence breaking down is rough. I'll wear us not being tallented enough but this made us look so out coached
  4. Its simple he says that hogan has signed elsewhere and then if hogan eventually leaves then he is a genius who picked it miles out. And if he doesnt leave? well he was wrong and the article is so old everyone forgets and life moves on. As far as accurate pffft no but its a play for later success.
  5. Im going this week im not sure the stand is high enough but next time i sit high enough to see it clearly ill take a photo and show it. If we were a high scoring high pressure side it would probably work... but we just arnt.. yeah they are my ins/outs too i dont see the point in making mass changes maybe Harmes out as well but idk who to bring in for him.. that and he has a habit of being in the right place at the right time which not many players have.. He has kicked a goal a game and if he can up his pressue a bit im not sure there is much else we can ask of him

  7. I also like the idea of Dunn as CHF a decent mark and decent kick could be good change up. (i doubt it will happen but who knows)
  8. No that is correct, They play a "team" defence now. If you look how they line up at a center bounce its very clear the stand in a 3x2 rectangle irrespective of where their "match ups" are standing (I did notice this go away after half time last week but didnt seem to help) . What this means is quite often we get bad miss matchs. The pay off theoretically is we can get an extra man to each contest and win with numbers. Unfortunatly when there is no pressure up the ground then this just doesnt work and Essendon exposed that on the weekend. I just dont get it... if i was petrie on sunday at the start of every centre bounce i would just go stand next to jetta. Melbourne will keep their formation and claim it is for the good of the team but it makes no sense to me
  9. I agree think it is different but at the same time im still hopefull that by the end of the year this will be one of only a few black marks in an otherwise positive season
  10. I partially agree with you. Im not sure we should be quite in the panic stations that many are at right now. However, the way in which we lost was particularly conserning... we have played badly and lost against teams we shouldnt have last year but we havent played so effortlessly since Neeld.. that gives everyone here the right to be furious. I see the way we lose as the biggest thing every week, a hard fought 4 goal loss is enough against North (i would rather a win but i want effort and glimses of the future).
  11. their midfield is far more developed too, i feel overall we are ahead of them right now but they are catching us fast and next year will probably overtake us... just like every other side that falls into the bottom 4
  12. If and only if we beat both Brissy and Carlton by 10+ goals then i will say that this was a harsh but good lesson But lets face it that wont happen hell I'll probably put money on each of them beating us
  13. I dont agree with their philosophy but matchups arnt a thing anymore. Expect Jetta on Petrie and TMac on thomas for much of the day. The theory being that if they put pressure on up the ground the kicks into the oppositions forwardline will be so bad the matchup wont matter (a nice sentiment but i mean seriously)... saturday showed what happens when there is no midfield/forward pressure 14 i50 marks.
  14. hahaha we looked tired and slow and you want to bring in Trengrove who has played 2 vfl practice match in 2 years (and was slow when he was healthy) and Weiderman who had limited pre season because they were building him due to his injury last year just have second think. Hopefully they will both get games in the back half of the year but they are a long way off it I would think. ANB for harmes and Dunn for bugg I agree with though. Tom was frustrating with the ball but he is still the best tall defender we have. And I'm not sure I agree with it but I think they would bring Oscar back in if they were to take garland out (but I think he would stay in). Kent im leaning a bit both ways I like him and he is usually good defensively so do you drop him after 1 shocker or do you give him a chance? its hard. And assuming you give up the trengrove idea who comes in for him? i guess Frost but im not a fan of him in the forward line at the best of times....
  15. I think you're spot on, id be happy to make finals next year let alone win a final... dont think once we finaly play in a final after all this time winning one will just happen. With all the improvement the dogs showed they couldn't neither can richmond. Finals will no doubt come for us in the next 2/3 years (well it f***ing better or i might just give up on this club) but really contending is still quite a ways away.
  16. Lower the I50 count the higher the conversion rate, usually because the i50s are to an open forward line rather than when we get repeat i50 and the opposition is already back. As we get better around the ground expect conversion to go down (hopefully a little better than last week but still will be worse than recent years). This is not necessarily a bad thing being around the middle of the pack conversion rate and I50s by the end of the year is probably a good result for us.
  17. Yeah this worrys me a little too, its not an intent to hurt but its the AFL's intent to over adjudicate.
  18. hahah I'm not sure why i didnt see this coming
  19. Makes you wonder how we have gone so wrong over the years...
  20. Whats with this he said, she said crap?? are you guys 5? grow up! I joined this forum to talk footy not read this crap But back on topic: Good on Viney i hope he can maintain his NAB challenge and rnd 1 form for the whole year. If he gets a clear run for the year I think he could be our best AA selection chance. He and Gawny are becoming a star combination and gonna soon be our 2 most important players (if they arnt already)
  21. I have been considering getting it. It does have 3 wifi antennae vs the old which just has 1 so could result in a stronger connection than i have had in the past which is usually the problem i have. But i will stress that chromecast version aside the network is always what is under the most strain doing this so an old/weak network connection will always going to stuggle. We can offer our experiences based on our networks but anyone reading may have much better or much worse connections and their results may vary. (haha that last bit sounds like an american infomercial disclaimer)
  22. I do it as well, quality is ok depends mainly on your internets ability to maintain a strong connection. It is not HD by any means but beats watching it with a magnifying glass. There will be a delay compared to what is on the phone but the audio is cast to the tv as well so as long as you dont look at your phone while its happening it wont really matter ( oh and 1 more thing... you will want to have the phone plugged in or it will go flat been there, done that very annoying) I should also note I'm using the first chromecast i would assume the 2nd gen one would be better
  23. you mean the one where some guy was out wearing a white shirt had a little too much to drink, vomited on it looked down and went "hey you know what we could use this for!"
  24. This is true but we also are the home team on queens birthday every year Im not sure it matters that much, i believe this week replacement home game anyway? If they are so keen to keep those NT games they must be more profitable than the takings from this game anyway
