  1. The final margin of our last two games has also been that game's highest margin. 17 points is, therefore, the biggest margin either side has had in our last two matches.
  2. insufficient force I'd have thought. May get a week. He has 93.75 carry over points.
  3. I wonder who will be "first ruck." Jamar doesn't mind getting forward, nor does Gawn. Ruck time could be split pretty evenly and without Maric we can hopefully make it a massive bonus.
  4. In my mind there's a pretty clear split between players I'd like to keep this year and those I'd happily move on.
  5. I haven't commented too much on this whole topic as it's a very complex issue and I feel that we don't have the full picture. I'd have to say, however, that making special salary cap/drafting rules to look after a team who was found to have systematically rorted the system, while also endangering the well-being and eligibility of its own players, would sit very uneasily with me.
  6. The second coming of Whelan? Not in my lifetime I wouldn't dare to dream.
  7. He was so good that the English Football team wanted to get him in to play right wing, thinking the same as you! (I heard from a mate's mate's mum, anyway)
  8. The Post Review Panel has met regarding this incident. This post was reviewed due to its flagrant irrelevancy and its potential to bring the thread into disrepute. The review panel raised concerns that the poster "bing181" elected to bump, and in doing so chose an insignificant part of the post to focus on which was not in the interest of football or the forum in general. In electing to go the man rather than the post, the poster "bing181" left himself open to the findings of the panel. The post was reviewed as such: Impact: Low Contact: Irrelevant Location: Off the ball Past record: The panel cannot be bothered searching 0 activations points.
  9. Like Liam Picken, too tight for mine.
  10. The free kick against Frawley is outrageous. I simply cannot fathom how it's a free kick. He's allowed to stand and try and body out to take a chest mark. Protecting the space to take a mark is a required skill!
  11. 1 minute 20 to 2 minutes 10 is very interesting. Thanks for sharing.
  12. On the Matt Jones goal (and not wanting to blame the youngster) but as he enters 50, JKH comes screaming towards him. The problem is that the hyphen doesn't affect the contest at all as he doesn't get to Jones and all he ends up doing is leading his man to the running Jones. The Hyphen should've stayed where he was, let his man go to Jones and called for the handball over the top. I think he was caught up in the drama of the situation and lacked composure (as many of our players did last night). It's a good learning curve for him and I'm sure the coaches will bring it to his attention. Vision here - WARNING: Heartbreaking!
  13. How about the free against Frawley for "shepherding"? It's one on one! You're allowed to stand your ground! That lead to a goal, the Crameri one lead to a goal, the Boyd dive led to a goal, Cross free kick for picking up the ball led to a goal, Will Minson received an 8 meter pass that went through for a goal. That's 5 goals from soft, ridiculous free kicks yet we still lost because we cannot use the football and do not have enough composure around half forward. Matt Jones should've drilled that goal. Fuming. But not heartbroken, because it's a game we were in til the death and we haven't been like that for a long, long time. There's a pulse, but it's frustrated. A few other things go our way we could so easily be 5-3 or even 6-2! Instead we're 2-6 facing a tough draw. However, we're on the mend and there were still positives - though the dogs showed us a lesson in tough footy tonight, if we play that hard next week we'll roll the Tigers. Footy sucks sometimes.
  14. Should be a fine. And suspension. Why not, I can't stand Monfries!
  15. There could be a lot of holding the balls paid tonight. Especially as the umpires seem to be ignoring handballs.
  16. As long as we play like mighty demons I don't care what people call us.

    AFL Round 8

The two eras of your post directly contradict each other

    AFL Round 8

Agreed. I know how I feel it should go - but also a feeling that in hindsight the opposite result won't be much of a surprise.
  19. Don't have the time for a proper write up, but I do like having a thread to comment on during the weekend. Only 6 games (terrible bloody bye rounds idea) but enough to keep some interest. Hawks and Swans could be a cracker if it's anything like last year's Round 23 - Hawks with some out and Swans with some costly ins (get it?). Power get another chance to underline their credentials and I think may have the goods against the Dockers but it's also exactly the sort of game that Freo have lifted for in the recent past. Brisbane have had the wood over Essendon up there and hopefully do again but I won't expect it. Dees with a chance for two straight and I'm strangely confident. Dogs don't love the G and we have some confidence. We'll need to take our chances. Eagles will thrash GWS and Carlton St Kilda should be a dull 28 point Blues win... Overall hard to get excited about 6 games but potentially for 3 very close games.
  20. One I forgot to mention and it happened shortly after our 4th goal (Watts'?). From the centre clearance Viney was tackled by a couple of Crows and it seemed to mellow towards a ball up. Any other player would've fallen to the ground but Jack simply refused to be taken down. He shoved (I think if was Jacobs) to the ground burst away and drilled the Hyphen on the lead. Shame about the resulting kick but that moment was when I knew were a dead set show.
  21. Saturday night could tell us a bit about Jack. You could imagine him having a quiet one after such a draining/confusing week and so much attention on him. A busy/big game would be huge for him and massive for the club.
  22. Rationale like rpfc's a few pages back is spot on. Logical denunciation of the penalty - based on the very rules of the game. I'm sure our QCs are doing that in the tribunal/appeals room - but reading the feed it never seems to be brought up. Can any lawyers help me out as to why? Jack?
