I know Turnbull is walking a tightrope between the right and centre factions of his party and is therefore stymied into basically doing nothing at all ( or just plain unwilling)  but I cannot for a minute think that anyone in the Liberal Party think that the public would stand for an Abbott comeback. (except Eric Abetz and Corey Bernadi)

Wrecker - can you foresee Abbott back in the top job ?

We saw the rabbot's finance dreams & desires in that Budget under his leadership...  & now he says that Turnbull's government goes to 2016 election under his ideas & workings.  He is trying to resell his brand.

He will cut everything to the budget bone, sending masses to unemployment, until wages fall.  This is why he wants the unions on they're knees.  So a royal commission to topple the toughest union left going,  after smashing the Dockers back under Reith.  Then he hopes they all fall over like dominoes.

people will be working on wages like at domino pissa or 7/11.

The christian lobby is pushing for rabbot's return,  just as soon as the election is run & won by Turnbull.  He'll last just 15 - 18 months...  before the plebiscite gets any oxygen.  That will get delayed until after Turnbull has been sacked.

Turnbull, having been removed from his chair,   will then retire from politics,  & take his retirement smiling all the while.malcolm+turnbull+nicholson.jpg

Since he is such a hot topic at the minute, here is my 2 cents about Tyson:

He has 2 major problems, he is slow and he is a terrible kick.
Now the latter is the lesser of the problems, for a midfielder at least, we can probably deal with 60% efficiency by foot if he can keep his hands up around 80-85%. Judd and Swan are both brownlow medal proof that you dont have to be a glorious kick to be a star midfielder as long as you can get your hands on the footy and give it to someone who is. we'll all love tyson forever if he gets the ball in and under and hands it out to le like of salem running past who has the skill to hit someone lace out.

The bigger problem I see is he is slow moving the ball on, he gets caught holding the ball more than any other player in the competition, and this is harder to fix. People calling for him to be dropped but I feel he will dominate in the VFL simply due to the extra time he has. IMO we have to persist with him at AFL level and he has to get better at moving the ball on quicker. Going down a level and playing exactly the same might help his confidence but wont change the fact he will continue to get caught at the top level. I'm open to sugestions as to how the VFL could improve this skill but right now i just cant see it helping

Play him at Casey in the forward pocket or flank, & rotate thru midfield, not to the bench, building his endurance.   Tell him to work on his outside game & to kick lots of goals.  And to feed the ball linking to the runner coming past.

Hopefully he'll end up being tagged when forward,  forcing him to get mentally faster ?

If he's that slow he'll have to learn to get quicker in mind,  then maybe do the same at AFL with him, during rotations?  If we can get his endurance up maybe he could end up a plough Wallace type.

Just watched the tv coverage for the first time as I was there Saturday. Matt Jones did nothing wrong all game, and was creative when he had it. He stays

Pedo was working hard and leading to come good spots, couple big hits and acceptable when in the ruck. Stays

Harmes did some good things, great pressure, he should stay

    Omac out for Dunny

So who you push out for Brayshaw I would not have a clue but he has to come in, and I would really like H to come in aswell. Maybe frost and Kent/harmes but structurally that doesn't work. What a great problem to have for the first time in years!

PS- Watts did things he has never done for Melbourne before. Explosive and evasive through traffic! Vanders is going to be  a superstar, does so much right!

I would give Angus a week with Casey,  probably his first? game with them?   He is a tad underdone & needs match work.  one more week IMO.

We need to  'Inject'  some speed,  & to cover off back flank/wing.. I think Lamumba comes back in this match,  for OMac.   Lamumba will give us some dash thru the mid areas.

Angus to return for the North game Rnd 3.  If we had Sub's,  he could have come in as a Sub.

Dunny can wait another week as well,  unless there are 2 players to miss.

Well we've been caged for NY on 50 Yrs,  save for a broken up decade of fun.

I'd like to think we are Breaking Free of those cages.

Is the one minute clapping for the banned players?

If so, then booing would be the perfect antidote to that load of farce. Although I'll either stay seated or turn my back.

Point being that booing would not be aimed at current players so much.

I'd like to see everyone sand on their seats & have their backs to the arena when the bummers song comes on as a silent protest... no Boos,  nothing but our backs to those bastardos.

No pollie speaks directly and is black and white - but I don't think I have come across a pollie that was more transparent in what he was going to do and what he wasn't going to do than Abbott.

It's a compliment and a slap all in one.

I haven't heard of another Australian politician that wants to change this Nation; country as well,  to something that its peoples do not want as the rabbot & his right wing christian masses.   This is where the renewed push for the rabbot has come from,  because of Turnbull's open minded thinking Re the gay community.

the Libs want Turnbull to win the election for them,  then they will force him out as they're leader within 18 months of this election.   And then bring back they're favourite christian soldier.

you say he is transparent, i agree...  But only to the politically acceptable point, of most voters.  He will not elaborate on the unpopular things or depths of his intentions which he intends he will bring upon our people because of his bible backed philosophy.  this is the dark side of the rabbott.  his deception.  He will come back a more politically correct version,,,  seen already going to the surf in a wet-suit,  trying desperately to change his image & undo all his bludgeoning mistakes.

.....  but his truth is already out there.  seen by all.  he won't muck up the election for Turnbull,,,  or the rabbot himself is finished.

he cannot survive another term as opposition leader.  The people already know his tricks & his poisons.

What are we expecting from Bugg this yr?? His pre season was good but I thought he was a bit down against GWS.

Harmes a bit off also but I have high hopes for him, attitude and effort normally good.

M.Jones played his role very well.

Bugg needs time to fit into the side.  GWS would have plenty of info on his game & how to negate him.

Looking forward to seeing him string the form together for half a dozen matches. When he does that, I'll be convinced, but I'll be enjoying it the entire time.

When I watched the replay, I noticed his involvement a lot more than I did on Saturday. His composure and ability to find his way through traffic has been something that has stood out his entire career. It's like a sixth sense and not many players have it to the same level as Jack.

its easier to pick out things in SlowMo, isn't it Dj.

I saw Wattsy's efforts from the news clips.  He looked really good from those snippets.  I'm now excited for his future from seeing him contest & go in willingly.

His skills & his 'insight',  are there to witness.  If he keeps this up through traffic,  he could one day get a rotation as R/Rover as he gains more self-belief.

Jack has been great this year, but as ENYAW points out he has yet to play against a top team in the real competition.

His whole attitude and approach looks better though.

Only time will tell, and like every player there will be bad or even awful moments and whole games from time to time.  It is how he reacts to these moments or games that will show his true mettle and his true worth.

    couldn't agree more monoccular

    sorry -  disagree on this.

I don't think anything that Abbott did from the first day that he  ook over as leader of the libs was a surprise. From day one what we saw with Abbott was what we got. If anything I think his inflexibility and inability to compromise on his belief's was what cost him in the end.

I agree with what you wrote.   But I'm not sure what you disagree with?

That is a fair leap to be making. I think it's more a reflection of their belief in his versatility rather than ruling him out as a KPD. There is plenty of evidence in this package of his abilities to play in defence.

    http://www.melbournefc.com.au/video/2014-10-16/sam-frost-highlights

Simply put, his major weapon is his size combined with his speed. Something which we are yet to see being put to full use.

I agree Pm, It's way too soon to make Frost a whipping boy.

IMO the FD will be selecting sides for the games 2 matches ahead.  so at Rnd 1,  they wanted to get games into Omac & Frost.  The forwardline was congested, too tall,  but we can manage for the Essendon game with one change,  bringing in a runner if Omac goes out (likely).   We bring in a runner,  to prepare them for the following game against the Roos.

We will need options for 2nd ruck IMO against the Roos,  so I think both talls (frost/pedo) will play against the Dons.

Then, after the Roos game,  we may omit one of the talls?  I think they are currently weighing up between both talls,  which one to take into the upcoming Pies match?

Matt Jones should not be and won't be dropped.

I love James Harmes: he has a crack, he can kick goals and his attitude is infectious, but he is presently the 22nd best player in our side.

I think they won't change much at all for the Essendrugs game.

If Omac goes out injured (TBC),  then Frost or Pedo goes to defence, & another runner can be added to the side.

I'm wondering when our coaches come to the realisation that Frost isn't a forward. He doesn't have the smarts to use his athleticism to get to contests, and doesn't have much natural ability full stop. Replace O Mac with him as a permament backman, and give Dunn a crack up forward. Use Pedersen as a 2nd ruck/forward.

Watts and Hogan are smart players, but neither Pedersen or Frost complement them.

We're still in development mode even tho we are about to start to move up the ladder,  theses boys,  in particular 'Frost',  are still being taught to do certain roles.  They won't overload him with too much at once.

Frosts injury last season slowed his learning of roles.  I've no doubt he'll be able to [play as a forward if they see it in him...  I think the difference is that as supporters we get impatient.

I think they see that we should play 4 tall forwards (Hogan, Frost, Pederson, Watts) all together up forward.  That crowded Hogan it seems.  The forward zone functioned better when one tall went to defence.

This is not about Frost IMO but rather about the balance of the forward setup/balance.

Abbott has never hidden his motives, infact, he has worn his right wing ideology on his sleeve and that is why you hate him.

Shorten has no conviction nor does Turnbull. Both, contrary to Abbott will say whatever is in self interest first.

the rabbot only speaks of the obvious when talking.  (unless its scripted)  written!

He speaks of his beliefs, yes,  but does not spell out what his cabinet Will Do,  thus allowing himself not to be nailed down to any sort of contract,  which he personally doesn't like.

Even if its what the masses want.

So he'll commit to a 'plebiscite',  Re gay marriage & equal rights in marriage,  as it stalls any immediate commitment to do what the majority of Australians want to happen.

(but the cabinet still have to agree to any yes gay marriage vote after any plebiscite,,,  & then the parliament have to vote to pass it.)  the Liberal pollies won't pass it,  even after a plebiscite....

He stalls the things he doesn't want. and avoids a direct answer committing his cabinet/government to a firm decision.

So NO,  he does not say what he means,  and will try to deceive Via being indirect 'media talk'.

I am well aware that we don't need to "Rush" players into playing footy and we all know that throwing a player in the deep end under done doesn't end well.

    BUT.

With yesterdays fanfare and optimism behind us we are all looking to next week.

We play a very depleted Essendon outfit that holds more VFL regulars than the Box Hill Hawks.
So my question is do we play Petracca?

    Some Points...
    - He won't be thrown in the deep end against an Eagles, Hawks, Swans outfit.
    - This team althogh not to be taken lightly (Like any game) are midway between AFL and VFL at best.
    - If we are going to throw him into a Casey game anyway, might as well put him in a game where we are odds on favourite.
    - MCG debut.
    - All reports from here, and other training reports suggest that not only was he excellent on Friday at the intra-club/praccy, he was well and truly a cut above the rest (Worth noting that this was in a team with Brayshaw and Lumumba)

Just an interesting conversation topic and would love your guys opinions.

I think we should throw him in and see how he takes it.

as Corcoran wood say, when he's 'Cherry Ripe' !   I always thought that meant it's ripe to be eaten ?    no wonder our list was a mess from around his time.

let McA & Goody Roosy sort him out first.  Has he even played a VFL game.   Whats his understanding of our gamestyle like under the pump?

give him a month then lets talk.
