  1. He sounds very dedicated & Committed. http://boundforglorynews.com/christian-petracca-the-most-exciting-tac-cup-prospect/
  2. goes alright; but I saw mostly tackling, would like to see more of his creative side & ball use... his effort is top shelf.
  3. just adding to this post Pickett surprisingly to me is 179cms, bigger than I had realised for a natural smallrover/small forward type of the past, & at almost weight for height, at this early age is imo exciting. strong build. I like the look of this kids play. dynamic. Jarrod Pickett South Fremantle/Western Australia 18/8/96 178cm/76kg Midfielder/half-forward Pickett will excite with his speed and knack for producing eye-catching moments. His pace is the central element to his game: he runs a 2.81 second 20-metre sprint and he knows it, regularly bursting out of stoppages, taking a couple of bounces and delivering the pass. He's just as likely to take a big mark, land on his feet and then bolt off. Jarrod Pickett is quick and he knows it, delivering regular eye-catching moments. Picture: AFL Media Petracca reads verygood, as well. . http://www.afl.com.au/news/2014-05-14/top-20-under18-players-to-watch as does Jordan Curnico.
  4. so do I, he was in the under 18s, the perfect Roosy player starting on defensive side as a Mid & working hard both ways. strong in the contest, & a players player. the reason i like Jaksh out of the GWS lineup are a few. there are others going alright in they're young group of Key Talls; forward & back. Numerous above 192cms defenders. Jaksch is 195 apparently, is young so isn't too highly priced yet, & has always been a very good kid as a swing-man. He came thru our connections at Oakleigh, so we wuld understand him well. So he can grow as a 195 key tall into the bigger defender we need, & also has that athleticism... he can also play a fleet footed swing-man forward clunking marks. No doubt could run thru the midzone as well?
  5. I think so too. If Chip were to go for a Big Retirement package, or the Silverware, we could have 2 picks between 4 & 7... this could really help build us into a strong Unit. We could pickup say a Pickett & Brayshaw; or trade one again similar to the Tyson deal. either way now, I'm happier with the growing band of leaders we now have about the team. so not as desperate for 23 - 24 yr olds as I was last year. In saying all of that, I want us to build the longterm player base, & our big game players at our club, One Club players. .... In the heart, I want chip to stay. In the head, OK either way, but still stimulated with new young players coming onto our list. Shiel & Jaksch would be my wish from GWS. a hard headed & powerful elite breakaway mid,,, & a tall key swingman equal at either end. often sweeps across packs up forward stealing the ball, perfect for a swingman to hurt. .... this Dynamic duo is just what the good doctor ordered common Melbourne make this One stick !
  6. apparently he hasn't agreed Yet, to go father & son to the Maggies...yet. as of last week anyway.
  7. If, the majority of people went to Pay TV for their footy, Free to Air stations would most likely have to find other things to put to Air, if the numbers weren't high. Just as the ABC were starting to do re the VFL. They almost dropped it a little while back, but for some outcry. If Pay TV gets more & more of the watching public, then Free to Air will fall by the wayside & we'll all have to pay for TV watching rights for anything. And then, if there are 3, or 4 combatants on Pay TV, some with the Footy, others with the Movies, yet another with the best Science & Nature shows,,, we'll have to pay for all 3 registrations, to get what we want. No, I'll stay with Free to Air, thanks.
  8. I don't take much notice of the comparisons generally. And I haven't kept up with young players over the last 4 - 5 years really. other than videos draft time. So I've got no idea who marley williams was, except for remebering his name for some reason. now I looked him up I remember he was up on assault & was with the Pies. even more reason I wouldn't read about him. I used to live Footy, read all the papers sports pages inside out, went to games weekly & watched nearly all on TV for 20 odd years. Recording & studying them & listening to all the experts like Matthews, McClure, Barass, Lyon, Roos, etc, & players etc. ...after 2007 I started going to U-18 games watching the TAC cup matches & the NAB AFL U18 Champs games for a few years, until I thought we should be on our way. Then the flood, zones were happening, Sean & Jimma going, $cully, & general congested play, & our rebuild coming unstuck, I generally had started to lose interest in the game, as it is these days. The only thing left for me was to see that we become a power Once again. I refused to watch other games, because of the inequity of the AFL game, the money, the scheduling, the TV games not given to us, etc. Foxtel, I refuse to be a part of undermining free to Air TV. so all in all, I think you can see I'm very much an AFL Mushroom nowadays. getting info now from this Internet forum, & by reading Melbourne articles online, & from the Sports media. I won't give the power clubs my 'click on', on the internet. thats where I'm up to, nowadays.
  9. That's why I'm asking machsy. I don't watch other matches any more, nor read about other AFL clubs. Those comments posted above, are 'Knightmares' comments. They're not mine. I just 'copied & pasted' them into this thread, to ask peoples opinions and to get some idea about those kids who sound interesting to me. Nothing more, and nothing less. http://www.bigfooty.com/forum/threads/knightmares-2014-phantom-draft.1060197/
  10. you mean marley williams?
  11. I've just started to read some U-18's articles for this years draft. I haven't seen any draftees for this 2014 National Draft, live or on video. 12. sadly. the whiteants undercut yet another, in a long line of pilfering.
  13. liked the look of picket. & weller
  14. this Too. templeton is a bit slight to contest regularly inside the square. more a Milne IMO, at the moment. we need Powerful bodies that can drive thru clashes in the centre, whether they're small or tall.
  15. McCartin sounds like he may have some attributes for a mid? he could make a strong 3rd tall, able to rotate thru the mids?
  16. IMO our first picks in the U-18 draft should be the ones who can offer us senior help inside a 2 yr turn around. The U-18 ruck may not do that for us? We need Key Posi players, both ends, & we need hard skilled running players, capable of playing back or forward, or mid. King will be one season in, this year. we could rookie another ruck, & grab a useful aging Ruck as backup to Spencer/Gawn.
  17. I just had a thought, about the salary cap, that it might work better, if all clubs had the same amount of $$$$ to spend in an annual salary cap, but maker the list numbers less at the top of the table, & growing list numbers for the teams each 2 rungs lower, until the bottom team has 8 more on the list, churning more players. Make the cap tighter, squeezing the salaries. This will cause some players to move clubs for more opportunity. Make the list too tight at the top end, causing the top teams to trade out some players as they climb. Allow the rookie list to be seperate from the senior list numbers, and outside the senior salary cap, but still evenly regulated.
  18. Ditto, but for me the thing is his honesty & hard work he has so obviously done with his hurt. this isn't easy, & takes guts & special qualities to face. He sounds mostly free to a large degree of the things that haunted him, & I think he sounds like, now those issues can only drive him on, instead of hindering him. he sounds like he really wants to prove himself, & earn a good reputation & name in lights. he has guts. for sure.
  19. I wonder if the 'chat' to watts, was more than being dropped to Casey, if contracts are being organised atmo.
  20. shifting axis, poles apart yet. maybe this year we'll do our draft strategy now, then get excited for the run home in July ? the way the weather is, winter won't start til august.
  21. I liked Dunstan as well for between 8 - 16 I'm fine with Salem as I reckon he'll develop nicely in our timeframe.
