The 2014 AFL National Draft
If, the majority of people went to Pay TV for their footy, Free to Air stations would most likely have to find other things to put to Air, if the numbers weren't high. Just as the ABC were starting to do re the VFL. They almost dropped it a little while back, but for some outcry. If Pay TV gets more & more of the watching public, then Free to Air will fall by the wayside & we'll all have to pay for TV watching rights for anything. And then, if there are 3, or 4 combatants on Pay TV, some with the Footy, others with the Movies, yet another with the best Science & Nature shows,,, we'll have to pay for all 3 registrations, to get what we want. No, I'll stay with Free to Air, thanks.

The 2014 AFL National Draft
I don't take much notice of the comparisons generally. And I haven't kept up with young players over the last 4 - 5 years really. other than videos draft time. So I've got no idea who marley williams was, except for remebering his name for some reason. now I looked him up I remember he was up on assault & was with the Pies. even more reason I wouldn't read about him. I used to live Footy, read all the papers sports pages inside out, went to games weekly & watched nearly all on TV for 20 odd years. Recording & studying them & listening to all the experts like Matthews, McClure, Barass, Lyon, Roos, etc, & players etc. ...after 2007 I started going to U-18 games watching the TAC cup matches & the NAB AFL U18 Champs games for a few years, until I thought we should be on our way. Then the flood, zones were happening, Sean & Jimma going, $cully, & general congested play, & our rebuild coming unstuck, I generally had started to lose interest in the game, as it is these days. The only thing left for me was to see that we become a power Once again. I refused to watch other games, because of the inequity of the AFL game, the money, the scheduling, the TV games not given to us, etc. Foxtel, I refuse to be a part of undermining free to Air TV. so all in all, I think you can see I'm very much an AFL Mushroom nowadays. getting info now from this Internet forum, & by reading Melbourne articles online, & from the Sports media. I won't give the power clubs my 'click on', on the internet. thats where I'm up to, nowadays.

The 2014 AFL National Draft
That's why I'm asking machsy. I don't watch other matches any more, nor read about other AFL clubs. Those comments posted above, are 'Knightmares' comments. They're not mine. I just 'copied & pasted' them into this thread, to ask peoples opinions and to get some idea about those kids who sound interesting to me. Nothing more, and nothing less. http://www.bigfooty.com/forum/threads/knightmares-2014-phantom-draft.1060197/

The 2014 AFL National Draft
IMO our first picks in the U-18 draft should be the ones who can offer us senior help inside a 2 yr turn around. The U-18 ruck may not do that for us? We need Key Posi players, both ends, & we need hard skilled running players, capable of playing back or forward, or mid. King will be one season in, this year. we could rookie another ruck, & grab a useful aging Ruck as backup to Spencer/Gawn.

The 2014 AFL National Draft
I just had a thought, about the salary cap, that it might work better, if all clubs had the same amount of $$$$ to spend in an annual salary cap, but maker the list numbers less at the top of the table, & growing list numbers for the teams each 2 rungs lower, until the bottom team has 8 more on the list, churning more players. Make the cap tighter, squeezing the salaries. This will cause some players to move clubs for more opportunity. Make the list too tight at the top end, causing the top teams to trade out some players as they climb. Allow the rookie list to be seperate from the senior list numbers, and outside the senior salary cap, but still evenly regulated.

The 2014 AFL National Draft
Ditto, but for me the thing is his honesty & hard work he has so obviously done with his hurt. this isn't easy, & takes guts & special qualities to face. He sounds mostly free to a large degree of the things that haunted him, & I think he sounds like, now those issues can only drive him on, instead of hindering him. he sounds like he really wants to prove himself, & earn a good reputation & name in lights. he has guts. for sure.

i already new you did macca I respected that niceness but now your just hitting out like a little kiddie macca itsa your idolotry thats childish, & especially wehn it makes you so preciuos about your skipper. childhood fantasy taking reality proportions in your mind its not me who needs help old boy. the truth is out there for You to seek. I already been way along that path. I not particularly seeking forum friends as it were, I don't need to speak one on one with forum postors. I'm here just to read & put forth ideas & thoughts, like most here. and I don't fell lonely. I feel sad for the way things are changing, & values are diminishing, such as your friend clark, who is about the same talent as kim hughes. just in a different Era... stats are only relative to the current environment. by the way I felt sorry for kim hughes to. so I take it we're getting a divorce macca, I here daisy is available.

Anyone for cricket?
yes without taking many barrages like the true aussie cricketing hero's. Punter withstood much more at the front-line than this bloke. I have Full respect for what he's done in this test, & its about time he stood on the frontline, instead of back in the command post like the poms at gallipoli. all he has to do to be a hero is stand up-front, against the onslaught. as a leader he shouldn't hide from intimidation. he should Lead from the very front.
