IIRC, wasn’t Jackson out of contract vs JHF having another year to run on his? We got trade capital on Jackson because Freo didn’t want to lose him to the draft and WCE.

I’m not sure how the contract duration fixes the current issue of players under contract “demanding” a trade and clubs effectively trying to get trade capital while they can.

And I agree that the team managed their health and the result of the game beautifully off a 5 day break, but it’s also fair for the posters lamenting we didn’t get a 100 point win when the replay commentary highlighted we have only had 2 100+ wins in the last 29 years, and we were in the position to make it three.

I’m loving how JVR is playing up the ground a bit, as a link player for offensive transition. I can’t see a forward line with both JVR and T Mac in it as I think they’re too similar. I’d like to see more of BBB, JVR and Fritta as I think this is the best blend of differing offensive skills.

Goody confirmed in the post match presser that Petty was a confirmed inclusion next week should he pass concussion protocols, which looked highly likely; and that Spargo is available for selection. So I see two changes to a team that won by 15 goals, which is a bit tough, but we’ll be better for them. I agree with the sentiment Schache will make way for Petts, as Schache came in for Petty in the first place. I reckon Harmes will be dropped, JJ to sub to make way for Spargo.

In a billion dollar sport, to have 5 games out of 9 umpired poorly or worse (and this week was not exceptional) is an indictment on the sport and the rules. Adding another umpire wasn’t/isn’t the answer, it feels like every contest needs to have a free kick paid at the moment (and they still miss some!). The goal line review technology is a joke. I wonder what the AFL actually do Monday to Friday to improve the sport.

Yeah, but if you watch the telecast, head of the umpiring department Damien Hardwick immediately put his arms out so it was accordingly paid.

I'd reckon it would be concerning to the AFL that only one interstate club is in the top 9.
