Cheer up champ. The season is about to begin, and with any luck, it's going to be longer than normal for us.
And the fact that we'll be playing in finals has stuffed my September holidays plans

Whatever happens, look forward to seeing them play well for 4 quarters instead of 2 or 3.
And if Brooke Patterson's come in, who's missing from last week?
Elise Strachan

In depth article on our prospects this season
Great article, it's almost as I've written it myself because I agree with it all (except Weed being our top draft pick in 2015 - I won't ever forget the moment we picked up Clearance).

I went to both games at Etihad last year. I said to myself the second time, I want to see if they learned anything from the first encounter (the one where Lynden Dunn had his papers marked). The answer is they learnt nothing and we were beaten exactly the same way. The most frustrating experience of last year.
I will hazard a guess we will get done the same way. I hope not but can see it working out that way.
Bookmark this, I agree

I'd email or call the experiences team at the club. They organise interstate trips, all inclusive. I called them last year as I went to the Gold Coast game up there with my boy; we'd already booked flights so they determined there wasn't much more they could do to help other than sell me tickets in the Melbourne supporters area and told me which hotel they were using so I could catch up in the bar for a beer afterwards. They told me at that point that there was about 20 going for the GCS game but only 4-5 for the Alice game (but it was still early in the season, so I'm not sure what the final numbers were).
great idea for remembering your dad. Shame it wasn't the Adelaide game, I'd happily have caught up for a beer and a yak.

As long as we have learnt from last year that bringing in under cooked talent (Brayshaw, Essendon) is still under cooked. Long season, better off with a fit 22 where there's any doubt. I'd put Kent into this category, hopefully not Garlett...

It would be nice to kick two goals in a row....is that asking too much?

WA based SEN callers have Oliver BOG at half time
also said that in discussion with Mish Cowan that she'd picked Oliver as a future Brownlow winner.
Good eye for talent, Cowan, shame we lost her.

8.40 !!! FMD!! I'm starting to get very ..err "tired" by that time. It will take manly effort to last the distance.
Don't let Goody hear that you haven't done your pre-season uncle bitters. You need to be watching/having a glass of red with the right levels of intensity...

The Demonland sniffer dogs were all over this one, with the lack of any updates coming out of the club.
Disappointing outcome, but not altogether unexpected.

That was short-lived
Just wait for the debate to start up like it did 12 mths ago on the merits of taking these players from Essendrug and the risks that come with it....

Happily post on this website every positive act Jack Watts contributed that led to the win

Tom Mac is also prone to missing the odd kick here or there, but you don't see anybody on this site make an example of him...

Oh, and good to see Dom, Garlo and Jack Trengove in the team as well

Earl, I'm just disappointed that you married a Hawthorn supporter.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder...Earl is clearly one eyed and must have been looking with his other one.

Matty Lloyd!
Not sure I hate him anymore.
Agreed- he's predicting we'll beat Hawthorn in a final - that would really add spice to the Jordan Lewis trade....love the thought of that happening (only mild payback for the grannie in 88)

To be fair, most supporters can't remember the last time the FD drew a line in the sand and established (and subsequently upheld) standards.
I can understand why some supporters still feel the need for talent to be picked every week without regard to upholding these standards.
Whilst unfamiliar, I think we're in for some great times as a result. I can't wait to give it to my Hawthorn supporting mates...

I'm a big fan of Tom McDonald but not when his name is used in the same sentence as "fearless football "
It may be an over complicated message but perhaps Tom's brand should be "first option football" and then whoever he gives it to can be fearless
Maybe the message to Tom is "think less" football

There's now another one to add to the mix:
Slobbo at the 3:10 mark in the video (i) can't remember Jayden Hunt's name and (ii) reintroduces Jamie Bennell to the list.
Chief football writer, my arse.
Dees supporters the most passionate (by far)

This is what the article is suggesting, though. We've got roughly 70 supporters, and 34 of them are going to the footy (48.7%)
