WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - ANGUS BRAYSHAW
Axis of Bob replied to ashdemons22's topic in Melbourne Demons
A recent article (admittedly in the Hun, and also call Jake Lever 'Jay') states that Brayshaw has improved his 20m pace from a 3.15 sec to 2.81 sec. I'm sceptical of those numbers, but it's still and indication of improvement. It also talks about his need to improve his endurance. -

I don't have a particular problem with a lack of pace for someone in his role. Contested inside midfielders don't need speed (especially at his size) as long as they can win the inside ball consistently and put up high numbers. In confined spaces, you can do your defensive duties without needing to be quick (a la Bartel, Kennedy, Mitchell etc). The problem Jack T has is that he isn't good enough at winning the inside ball. That's where he gets exposed, because he's pitted against quick outside players in open space. And I fully agree with you about the highlights packages. They show a lot of the flashy outside stuff, but rarely the nitty gritty boring inside stuff. -
I'd be disappointed if any club recruited him.

I also like reading these rumours. But I also understand that they aren't true.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - SAM FROST

And he was only on Kennedy for about 4 of the goals. The other times it was Corr, Tomlinson and Buntine. -
WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - SAM FROST
Axis of Bob replied to Gipsy Danger's topic in Melbourne Demons
I don't understand how some posters think that St Kilda was playing poker and we blinked. What did St Kilda have to gain from that? Their position is not improved by forcing us to trade for Frost. The only thing St Kilda could have gained was from us NOT picking up Frost. As for Frost, I'll show the analysis a bit later when I get some time, but there is a lot of information showing that gorilla taming key defenders usually only present themselves in their early 20s. A number of successful ones were not drafted until then, since it is a position that requires a great deal of physical maturity to become successful, and it's only then that this ability shows itself. Frost is in the perfect window, where they have shown they can be successful in that role but don't yet have the runs on the board to command huge amounts of attention. I think he's a smart choice. -
Potential Trades [Warning: Reading this thread may self-destruct]
Axis of Bob replied to Dr evil's topic in Melbourne Demons
As we've found out in the past ..... .... popular opinion doesn't usually reflect recruiter opinion. There are countless examples, especially this far out from the draft. This especially so when the player has been out of sight out of mind all year. -

And what if Lever is one of the two best players? -
WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - HERITIER LUMUMBA
Axis of Bob replied to Moonshadow's topic in Melbourne Demons
I'm happy to have Lumumba on the list. He offers qualities we are sorely lacking, specifically pace and power. We struggled to move the ball quickly last year, but he is a powerful and direct footballer and will help out a lot. -

Can we get Nathan Eagleton out of retirement? Actually, if it's black and white, maybe we're looking at Robbie Gray. -
Jack Trengove re-injures his navicular (2014) - trade deal off
Axis of Bob replied to Wiseblood's topic in Melbourne Demons
I agree, and I agree that it would be the best thing for Jack too. I am uncomfortable with the idea of trading a player who has been genuinely loyal, but it is definitely the right thing to do from an unemotional perspective. I just wish it wasn't. -
WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - BILLY STRETCH
Axis of Bob replied to e25's topic in Melbourne Demons
The first video is from the AFL website. It only includes the AFL Under 18s games that were televised (ie, the last 2). The second video were the club's own videos of Stretch playing. It was released by the MFC and includes any games they felt like showing. -
AFL involved in Port Adelaide/Essendon Draft Rort
Axis of Bob replied to deanox's topic in Melbourne Demons
Mate, with all due respect, Ash has been a member of Demonland since you were about 2 years old. He's a good poster and has well and truly earned the right to defend his team on this forum.- 217 replies

What information are you going on? The highlight footage of him kicking for goal into the wind? -
Not even comparable in attitude.

I think we'd ravel in that. I think I'll end there. It's too hard to find a pun for Tchaikovsky!
-
Another expression of anger? I'll just add it to the liszt.
-
At his size he needs really high end pace, because he's stuffed if anyone is able to get close enough to make contact with him. I don't think he has that real express pace at AFL level.

Seems like someone is baching up the wrong tree.

Worst poster.

To be fair, there is a blind man that has never seen the sun. I thank the pair for their time. They each managed to play a few games of AFL, which is a good effort, but it was the right decision to let them go.
