  1. My deelusional positivity on that last quarter is that: We won and we didn't expend any unnecessary energy to maintain a 30 point win or increase it to 60. Look around the comp: Every team is building a lead and then defending it. Noticing a hell of a lot of "come backs" this year. How rare were they 5 years ago? This tells you just how much energy you expend to get a 5+ goal lead with the 2024 running game. You've got nothing left and the opposition can then chip away it it. Seems like every game bar the odd blow out.

We play Brisbane on Friday and maybe that 4th quarter against North will hold us in good stead to put in a more energetic performance and have something left in the tank come the last if we're still in the game. Thoughts?

Posted the below in the wrong thread:

Sorry but I wouldn’t touch him. Don’t care how good he has been recently, someone who is openly selling his soul to the highest bidder (if I’m not mistaken) cannot be good for our club, particularly our “culture”. I mean, the cats made him, he played in a premiership, and yet he wants to leave? Doesn’t sound like a teammate I could rely on to me. Some parallels to us and LJ, but LJ was just a babe, Stengel is 3 years older and knows what he is doing. It’s a big pass for me.

He was a very important player as their best small forward in that premiership WHILE on the minimum afl wage. How dare he cash in to provide for his family, while his short lived career is at its peak. I'm not saying he's worth the price tag, but "selling his soul" is a bit much.

He’s  the best I’ve ever seen I think. You can make a cases for Whitten, Barassi or Mathew’s . But Dusty had that explosiveness and potency with his kicks.

Still pains me he went in the draft at 3 when we had picks 1 and 2.

In that universe we're probably a mid-range 10-14th placed team come 2014-2016 equivalent to the Suns and GAJ, that doesn't get Clarry, Trac and Brayshaw at the highest end of the draft!

  4. Are we not one of the clubs throwing a big offer at Logan McDonald? I don't know how realistic a move is so just popping the question, as i cbf creating a Logan McDonald Thread.

The time will come, be it soon or years from now, when the lost and lonely will sigh about how the MFC is a mediocre team, winning rarely, offering false hope occasionally, dashing that hope perennially. Pundits everywhere will nod sagely and agree that the Demons are pitiable and always have been.

But some among us will step forward, hand on heart, and say, ‘No! We won’t have it!’ because we few, we happy few, remember when our players strode the MCG like gods, fair of face and clean of limb, outshining all others and grasping the ultimate prize through skill, heart and grace.

We’ll remember Max the colossus, peerless in his craft. We’ll remember sunny Christian, relentless Clayton and dogged Jack, never giving in, never surrendering. We’ll never forget Steven, the Jakes, the other Christian, Kossie, Bayley of the unrivalled hair, Ed the running man and others, for we all had our favourites.

We were part of it. Through our commitment and love we were part of it and we will remember though times be dark, though times may grow dark for we know that when the times lighten, they lighten with fire.

    Go Dees.

+ Dopey Dogga, the Unicorn. His tale might just go down in MFC folklore as the quirkiest! People might even forget and new younger footy fans won't even be aware that he played in our flag, in 10 years when he winds down his career at Freo!

RoCo??? Oh spare me, please!! I suppose he’ll be listing himself as an ‘Influencer’ or ‘Digital Creator’, soon.

Huh? Roco has been running a good footy website with decent editorials as well as having his podcast reviewing and previewing every match of every round before it was even a thing for 8 or so  years now. I don't know anybody else that has given so much energy and time to watching and discussing the actual games and not just the news and off-field stuff. Why are you potting him?

How he is still getting a game is mind blowing, fumbles, fumbles then when he does grab it either gets caught or turns it over. Get rid of him.

Why wouldn't we turn Sparrow into a tagger? Seems the ideal body type and is ready fitness wise to do just that. Instead we are sacrificing an incredibly important player to our structure like ANB on Daicos.

I actually don’t even think we have a player that can go with him.

Steven May can. And with how terrible Petty has been for months, how hard would it have been to switch them up in the 3rd to generate some offence and put some body on him?

  10. Let's hope Dallas can make a series of it, the Euro 2024 is a ripper with expanded group stage and the olympics is an entertaining fortnight with a stacked American dream team and Boomers going for a medal, and some thrilling swimming and track and field finishes. Maybe another Bradbury moment.
