It was a power move because he wasn’t there.

At least one thing for sure is that Melbourne’s B&F has overshadowed Collingwood’s from a media attention standpoint.
-
It’s just a journalistic method to not fully commit to your statement.

On MMM this morning Gawn seemed to suggest the leaks were coming from the list mgmt committee (10 people). Surely the club needs to identify the rat and get rid of them.

So Goodwin wants Oliver gone? Considering how much this club leaks, if that was true it would have been reported by now and the opposing stories wouldn’t exist.

From my current experience working at a large corporate, one message the executives all say is “align, align, align”. Always make sure everyone is on the same page. This is the most basic thing an organisation can do. The fact that there is clear misalignment between the footy department and the CEO which has now played out publicly is quite simply a disgrace. You can defend Pert all you want, but this club is run by amateurs at an executive level.

Good clubs manage these sort of players. The stories I used to hear about Buddy were staggering. Even Dusty has had his moments.
-
As predicted, there’s a division with the club. Appalling stuff really.
-
The club is pushing him out. It’s the exact same situation when Watts (who was 1 year into a new contract) was asked to look around. Except this time it’s arguably the best MFC player we’ve seen in 30 years. Pert clearly has no faith in his ability to get back to his best. If there’s anyone who deserves a second crack, it’s Clarry.
-
How can you trust the club? For all of Goodwin’s flaws, he’s honest to a fault. When he declared that Oliver is loved, that he’ll be in the red & blue next year, and he’s never seen a player so ready to tackle a pre-season, then I believe him. This to me seems a division within the club where Pert has made a unilateral decision to gauge interest in trading Oliver. I’ve got no faith in this club anymore and I’m embarrassed how far we’ve fallen since 2021.

For those who underrate our 2021 premiership…
At the break of Gawn replied to Cassiew's topic in Melbourne Demons
I really don’t think it matters that it wasn’t at the MCG. It’s still a premiership. We were that good that year, it could have been played in North Korea and we still would’ve won. When the MCG deal finally ends, the AFL will no doubt look to rotate the grand final across the country just like the NFL does.- 104 replies

Real shame the Giants choked. They had a style to beat the Cats easily.

Sorry I may have missed it, but is Team Petracca going to be at the Brownlow on Monday?

How Chris Scott differs from other AFL coaches
At the break of Gawn replied to djr's topic in Melbourne Demons
I think the most telling stat of this article is the age and list profile of the teams he’s coached. Interesting that his poorer seasons have occurred when he’s had a younger team (2015 and 2018). Scott is a master tactician, no doubt, but he’s always had an excellent core of senior players which is built off good list management. One of the reasons we were so poor this year was the influx of players with <50 games played. -
I hate the fact that the first hour of Midday madness on SEN was dominated by this and 90% of the callers were Collingwood and Carlton supporters just saying he doesn’t want to be at Melbourne. Nothing would please me more than us winning finals and both those teams missing the 8 next year.
-
If I was a Giants fan I would be admitting myself into a psych ward. I thought our straight sets last year were brutal, but that was diabolical.

Goodwin never buys into emotion which annoys me in some ways. He espouses this belief that effort is unconditional and motivation is intrinsic when playing for the red & blue. However, the players aren’t robots, and I think for big games it definitely pays to use whatever extra incentives you can. Considering how poor we were in that first qtr of that final, he really should have had McRae’s comments on the whiteboard. There’s no doubt that Collingwood’s arousal levels were much higher than ours for the first 30 mins of that game. It was smart of Hinkley to use the Ginnivan’s comments to good effect for the group. Port came out completely fired up and it was the main reason why they won that game.
-
That’s why the next 12 months for this football club are vital. Petracca will always put success and finals over crowd sizes. If we can play finals next year and win one or two at the MCG then I highly doubt Trac will seek a trade. FWIW I don’t expect Collingwood to be playing finals next year while I think Carlton has been found out and may again struggle to challenge.
-
Ken needs to shut up. He’s achieved nothing for Port and probably never will.
-
Bitterly disappointed that the Power didn’t take the consecutive straight sets crown off us.
-
Houston’s comments were on radio. Not an official club statement like Petracca’s.
-
Did you listen to the Paul Marsh interview on SEN? It’s just a review of the AFL process with a focus on improvements going forward. It’s not an investigation. Petracca ain’t going anywhere for now…

Expectations for 2025
At the break of Gawn replied to The Taciturn Demon's topic in Melbourne Demons
Finals and a finals win at the MCG but I think we’ll be outclassed in the 2nd or 3rd week of the finals. -
I have to say it’s pretty naive of Green to meet with Gutnick. He should know that Gutnick is a regular source for the Herald Sun and hence anything spoken about could be leaked to the media. I really hope Green sent Gutnick a text msg telling him to [censored] off and then blocked his number after the article was published.
