    Was it? and is it?

I'll reserve my judgment on this until I hear more, but I will say this... Beware fool's gold. Pert may have experience "growing Collingwood's membership numbers" but it was an issue of converting a largely dormant supporter base into paid up members. MFC is very different proposition, where our much smaller supporter base has a relatively high conversion rate. The experience setting up a new training venue will be valuable, although it may be more difficult without Eddie pulling so many political strings and making use of his conflicting roles to the clubs advantage (Athletics Victoria, for instance).

    No consultation.

I think that it is a misrepresentation of the reality, but the man himself said he will not be involved in the decision.

Are you sure he's been endorsed by PJ?
  6. Oh yeah, forgot about this. Saw him on Monday at the G, hobbling through the crowd on crutches. Poor bastard. Looked glum, understandably.

Never heard of a player carrying an injury?

Clearly recall seeing him wrench his knee against Carlton. My guess is far from 100%.
  10. Unsure of form, but against the saints last year he was a standout before Riewoldt fell on his shoulder. Hoping he can re-capture that. Confident he'll come close.
  11. A lot of truth to him being a great strategist however.
  12. I wonder how he'd go building a culture and developing a list though. He may be perfect in a Chris Scott getting-handed-the-keys-to-a-Ferrari type situation.
  13. Goddamn paywall.
  14. List management is all about crystal ball gazing.
  15. I'm not thinking now - I'm thinking in 3 year's time when Oscar and Lever are in their absolute prime, and although Petty is deserving of being in an AFL team's best 22, we still have him at Casey. I'm thinking ahead. Having said that, he may force us to use Lever on a mid-sized forward, which wouldn't be the worst thing. Still - draft for talent, trade for needs.
  16. Good call, completely forgot the extension! I've just rated Petty highly from day dot, and always expected he'd be frustrated at not getting a chance, with Oscar and Lever, plus Frost as decent back-up (not so much lately). I've anticipated he'll be clearly good enough, but lackin opportunities, so his eventual value will lie in an asset to get missing pieces. Lever's injury may have changed that.
  17. We couldn't ignore Petty when he was still on the board in the draft, but I wonder how long before he starts to think about heading home if he doesn't get the opportunities here. Might be able to get our draft picks back off Adelaide from the Lever deal.
  18. I think the last thing our coaching dept would be judging Hunt's performance on would be volume of possessions. I think his efforts this year have lacked the required intensity and his accountability hasn't been great. These are the things he'll be working on to get his chance at AFL level again.
  19. I think Mahoney deserves more credit than just "what would my predecessor do?" and I think the best candidate may not be the best "on paper" stand alone CEO, but rather someone who shares the same vision as his predecessors, one who isn't bent on mass upheaval to shape the organisation in their own vision; but who understands the existing culture, the foundations put in place and wants to further that.
  20. Mahoney has completed a Bachelor of Science (Nutrition), Master in Marketing, and completed an MBA in 2010.
  21. "Melbourne CEO Peter Jackson said “Josh Mahoney is a rising star of football administration. While in the acting role he has done a outstanding job, particularly in recent weeks, designing and implementing the significant changes in football structure and staffing. “He is a highly skilled individual and has proven he deserves this opportunity." http://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/2013-09-24/mahoney-named-manager-football-operations
  22. They'll chase whoever gives us a better midfield mix, rather than "more of the same" so we end up with a lopsided midfield group, or alternatively a situation where a top 10 player is left out of the side for balance.
  23. The one team at the back of my mind that I couldn't think.
  24. I'd say Carlton or maybe even Essendon are into him. Essendon need to learn how run hard defensively as a unit. St Kilda don't need his grunt - they need class. Dogs wouldn't be an attractive destination at the moment, all going pear-shaped. Hawthorn would be just the type of team to come out of nowhere with a big offer.
