  1. It would be a big ask, but I’d house a multi-storey facility at the intersection of Punt Road and Olympic Boulevard, making the latter an underpass & constructing a large concourse (similar to AAMI) over Olympic Boulevard and across to Gosch’s that links in with access & egress to Richmond station. Cafe on the concourse level to catch the foot traffic funnelled through there; players gym, pool & training facilities on lower levels along with community offerings (key to funding); office levels above, rooftop bar/function venue to take advantage of training/city views. Massive outlay involved. Can we sign up to a super league for the cash injection?
  2. There were a few flankers in the draft and he was just seen as another one. What may have been missed by recruiters who didn’t delve deeper, was that Riv had glandular fever making him miss the entire preseason. He expected to maybe earn a couple of games later in the season but played from round 1 onwards.
  3. pretty much the same age, grew up competing against each other at school athletics carnivals where Jonesy had Selwood’s measure as a junior.
  4. I’m not convinced they are GOOD options though
  5. Can confirm, although there are options nearby. I’m quite partial to the Caulfield Racecourse idea, but whichever option we go for, it has to be an actual legitimate option that we proceed with in earnest and haste, not another bloody non-starter.
  6. Koz would have to be delivering some serious one-liners out on the field, having a father who is a stand-up comedian.
  7. Along with Luke McDonald & Jack Billings, I believe.
  8. Nice bloke, needs the money, we need the change. Win-win. And Essendon lose.
  9. Geelong have a distinct political advantage and no nearby competition to provide facilities for the community.
  10. Snobbery like this is what holds us back. Our membership base and the club itself are littered with it, and it will continue us on the same path we’ve been on for decades. We simply won’t get any govt funding for any community based facilities in the city where we are; we have already lost that battle to Richmond and Collingwood et al. We can continue to try but we’ll continue to fail. And while we’re at it, those same clubs will continue to cross the invisible lines to usurp us in the unsexy (but richly fertile) areas, and grow their membership bases bigger and bigger again with resources we refuse to commit. So many missed opportunities.
  11. It has to be Casey. We have to embrace Casey or else we’ll wither an die. While we have a CEO that thinks Casey is lucky to have us rather than the other way around, we’ll struggle to make anything stick.
  12. The board and Pert have been played like a harp by the state govt for years on end. We need some actually smart business operators who can negotiate this crucial need and deliver. Not a smug clown like Pert who is incapable of operating a computer.
  13. Very top heavy OBS with a lot of “managers.” Plenty of chiefs, not many indians. I wonder who was responsible for these things in the past and why the hell has it taken until now to introduce these roles if they are so vital? I’d love to see some actual results for once. Or some resources employed with a modicum of strategic thinking, rather than this shuffling of deckchairs rubbish.
  14. One voice is not enough, but suffice to say that Bartlett is on borrowed time.
  15. This board (and CEO) have completely lost my confidence. Time for an overhaul - whoever has it in them to organise a challenge, you have my vote. Couldn’t be worse than this rabble.
  16. I think I nominated Rosman as being a strong candidate for being utilised in this way in the Rosman thread, likewise Isaac Smith at Geelong. Salem might not have aimed to do this much in the past, but I could see this becoming a clear instruction for him going forward.
  17. Interesting. I’d be interested to know what they’d like us to offer them beyond the status quo, but in all honesty I have for a while found it bewildering that they give us any money at all, considering the MCC now has such a large contingent of non-MFC supporters.
  18. Id think we knew that run and carry was something we needed to top up on, and it was a case of us liking Bowery, Holmes, Rosman and others that fit that profile, but were eventually happy to get Bowey & Rosman. Laurie is no slouch either.
  19. I must have watched a different video.
  20. Is it? I’d also think that even if they play in the same position, they will being drastically different attributes to the table.
  21. Where is this panic you speak of? I only saw Goodwin and Richardson calmly asking further last-minute questions to ensure we were making the correct selection in Rosman. They were fair questions to ask, as Carrol was probably higher on our rankings in terms of pure ability, but we had already covered off the positions he’d be in contention for with our earlier selections. You can’t draft purely based on talent, otherwise you’d end up with a playing list of 35 inside mids; you also can’t draft based purely on needs; it has to be a balancing act between the 2 and that is what led to the last minute questioning. Those that knew the prospects were certain and didn’t waver. For Goodwin it would be hard to be enthusiastic about players you know previous little about.
  22. Goodwin and Richardson understandably looked like they were clueless about the prospects, due to very few of them having played footy in 2020 for them to watch and assess. They were wholly reliant on the opinions of the recruiters, who were going out of their way to reassure the uncertain coaches that the selections would fulfil our needs and wants.
