Lyon: Oliver is Demons best EVER midfielder
He’s a freak, already one of the best Melbourne players I’ve ever seen, and how he didn’t go #1 in his draft year shows what an inexact science selecting footballers is...when you think average footballers like Tom Boyd, Jon Patton and Jack Watts were #1

GAME DAY: Melbourne vs Richmond - JLT #1
Fair indication of our midfield depth with plenty out but we have an onball trio of Brayshaw Oliver and Harmes...

Riewoldt rates Hogan as better forward than TMac
I would play May forward if necessary, apart from TMac we don't have any other proven key forwards now Hogan is gone. Weed looked great in 2 finals but he hasn't done enough to prove himself yet, T Smith is a VFL quality player lets be honest and not tall enough at AFL level and Preuss is a ruckman....the rest are small sand mediums. I think May himself flagged he will play as swingman this season with stints up forward as required. When Lever comes back we wil have him, Omac and Frost which is much better tall depth than we have in the forward half of the ground.

Riewoldt rates Hogan as better forward than TMac
hmmm I wouldn't have a lot of faith in either of those two to anchor a forward line at AFL level...we have so many key defenders when Lever comes back I could see May playing forward a bit, he has shown some aptitude for that in patches.

Riewoldt rates Hogan as better forward than TMac
I do wonder if we underestimate a little the hole not having Hogan is going to leave in a our forward line...a flare up of that toe injury to TMac and the key position forward cupboard is looking pretty bare, May could end up doing a TMac!

Post Practice Match Discussion - Melbourne v Collingwood
I think he'll play in bursts through the middle, where his size and strength will be an asset at centre clearances. He's probably always going to be a heavy, muscular player - looks can be deceiving though...Ollie Wines is a similar build and that hasn't stopped him developing the tank for big midfield minutes.

Post Practice Match Discussion - Melbourne v Collingwood
I can't see too much fat there, he's built like a tank but its looks like muscle to me....I wish I was in that bad a condition!

Post Practice Match Discussion - Melbourne v Collingwood
I agree, and I wonder if its another case of copying what the premier did to some extent...The Eagles went with Lycett and Vardy in the one side and it worked for them, despite having a tall forward line already with Darling and Kennedy. I'd love to see Gawn and Preuss work for us all year but it is a bit difficult to see exactly how it would. Good insurance policy to have another big monster ready to go in ruck though.

Trac looks great as an onballer, I would expect him to get a lot of midfield time this season, he can drift out of the game as a forward I like him around the action,

Knee op!? I'm not liking the sound of this....

Injury List - Season 2019
You make a very good point: way back in the Rev era when we couldn't play finals 2 years in a row Brisbane had a tired, sore and broken side going into the 2003 Grand Final, which they went on to win easily...

Dees to take on Pies in Scratch Match (22/2/19)
Considering calling in "sick" ahem and easing on in to the city for this one....

Training - Saturday 9th February, 2019 @ Casey
Other stuff off the top of my head: Lever and May ran laps, Jones was walking laps didn't do much at all and Hannan was in the gym not sure how much training he did. Vanders also looked strong at training which is good to see from him this time of year. I didn't see KK but he may have been there.

Training - Saturday 9th February, 2019 @ Casey
Went for a quick look, torrential rain and cold hard to really get a gauge on what was going on. Viney, Oliver and Brayshaw all took part in match simulation. Gawn and Preuss had a decent battle but you can see Max is just a much better footballer. Harmes and Salem moved well and Weideman looks to have put on a bit of size.

Tickets for the JLT Series
Sound like something weird with the website when I clicked on the link it didn't say sold out....I'd be surprised if they'd sold 1000 tickets to a practice match this far out let alone a sellout
