WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB – JAKE MELKSHAM
Chris replied to Theo's topic in Melbourne Demons
Good to see this thread has descended into the normal crap that goes on at Demonland. Thankfully the few other threads I visit seem to somehow be immune. Will leave you all to it and make sure you have fun! -
WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB – JAKE MELKSHAM
Chris replied to Theo's topic in Melbourne Demons
Fairly sure he can not play any sport that is under the WADA code. So the last questions is a no with a qualifier of he can play non WADA sports. -
Might not get past 'Hi I'm James Hird'!
-
Dill is a good talker but I wouldn't say his approach has been good. He is far to forgiving of the players and excusing all this due to the culture of footy clubs. He should be saying the culture was wrong and we need to change it, we need to make a culture in all football that empowers the players to take responsibility and make the right calls. Who knows it might even stop the players threatening people with chopsticks.

Isn't it time to condemn the Players Association?

Gives him the chance to do the right thing and hand it back too. -

Agree completely. If I was a clean player I would be scathing at the response by both the AFL and AFLPA. Titus put it beautifully when describing Paul Marsh with a simple picture of a child in a cot spitting the dummy. About time the whole industry grew up and joined the rest of the sporting world with regards to PED's, they are at least 25 years behind as it stands. -
Fairly sure the form they signed stated that the substances were legal and that was why they signed it. To me that would give them a legal avenue to sue the club for negligence and deceit.
-
Thanks for jinxing it!
-
Gill confirmed that the AFL will not be taking further action against the club and that means that if they finished last then they get pick 1. Not right but I am not surprised.
-
Full just said this finding may have been a 10-20% chance after the AFL tribunal. He is clearly delusional about what has happened and what was going to happen. Idiot!
-
That's what happens when you ask a football coach about signing forms and you don't speak to your manager about getting legal advice. Stupid all around.
-
Tanner is on about how the players should have got a no fault discount. Still doesn't get that not one of them checked where they should have and every one of them didn't disclose the truth to ASADA when asked. I wonder sometimes where these people get off but then I remembered he is an ex poly so doesn't know the right thing if it bit him. Hope he makes himself look as silly as Marsh did.
-
Would be good to see a statement from the club about Milkshake. StKilda were on the front foot and released one quite a while ago about Carlisle.
-
Another ripper from Titus O'Reilly. AFLPA's media conference.
-
I am fairly sure the players can not be paid. If they are paid they are under the employ of the club and that is no allowed under the ban. What the AFL may do is say what the payments were to be will be included in the cap. This will give the dons a nice cash injection over the next 10 months or so.
-
It also gives Jobe a chance to compose himself before handing it back and facing the media. One thing he is normally is measured and composed and seems a good bloke.
-
Dill has clarified the position of the clubs who have ex EFC players saying they can immediately promote a rookie to cover the loss. Leaves us a rookie short but in reality we shouldn't need them anyway. The commission will also need to think about Jabs medal.
-
Especially as Stkilda get them twice, if it turns out they get a finals spot over us on percentage I will be slightly annoyed.
-
That would sound about right. I was wondering why it was the Indigenous boys who were the latest on the list. May have been the exhibition game in Alice.
-
Hep, there is a table at the bottom of the findings which outlines the return dates for each player. Jab comes back a week or two later than the others due to the international rules games. There are a few others who don't come back until early 2017.
-
Nope, if the bans are the same as they were in the 90's when the were explained to me then the players are not allowed to have anything to do with any sport that is a signatory to the WADA code.
-
I would never suggest such a thing
-
Unsurprisingly gave his first statement to Slobbo (gee there must be something in that) and said it was a miscarriage of justice and that he didn't expect this result.
-
Not in AFL land. They are not allowed to associate with a professional sporting club of any code for the suspended period.
-
Depends what you think the integrity unit do, I always thought they were there to weed out people of integrity and remove them, that is the only logical role they play given the actions of the AFL.
