What would checking their records and seeing he wasn't tested have to do with it. He is under investigation for not telling them where he was, not actually missing a test! Yes drugs are in all sports, and yes they are ahead of the ASADA's of the world, but without a heap more funding WADA can't catch up. Can you tell me again which cases have been handed to them on a plate? The EFC debacle certainly wasn't, and they did bloody well to get their man!

I agree about the intent, the problem is the rule is actually very clear and doesn't allow for that intent at all. The rewording would be fairly simple, it only needs the inclusion of words along the lines of 'their initial other rounds draft picks'. That would solve the issue instantly and make it very clear what is and isn't allowed.
-
The second sentence could be seen that way. The first sentence however is very clear talking about any other pick.
-
I agree it may have been their intent, not really with the intent itself. That is all academic though as my gripe is actually that they made a rule, it was clear, it was broken, they once again bent the situation to suit them. 17 teams played by the rules as they were written, 1 team didn't and have gotten away with it.
-
I agree that may have been the intent but the problem remains that that isnt actually what the rule says and what it does say is actually very clear.
-
Here is the actual rule from afl.com.au - If a club trades a future first-round selection, it may not trade any other future selection from that same draft. But if a club keeps its future first-round selection, it can trade any of its future selections from other rounds No scope there for other teams future picks. Actually expressly says 'any other future selections' Pretty clear.

I don't care they got O'MEARA I legally as such as I don't think he will get on the park much. More a swipe at the incompetent fools running show. They will destroy the game the way they are going.
-
The AFL have had to come out and defend the Hawks true to get O'MEARA. They have found an 'interpretation' of their rule that clears them of course. Here is what happened. The AFL rules states that once you trade a future first round pick you can not trade any other picks from that draft period. Pretty clear. The Hawks traded next year's first round pick to the Saints. The rule would say you can't trade anymore picks from next year. The Hawks then recieved next year's second round pick from GWS via Carlton. They then traded this to GC for O'MEARA. The AFL say it is fine as their interpretation of the rule is that it wasn't originally the Hawks pick so doesn't count as a future pick in that draft. The rule clearly doesn't provide this provision, or even hint at it! Just the AFL covering their ass again. You would seriously struggle to make this stuff up. Can we please have someone competent in charge of the league!

THE BOMBERS' DOPING SAGA - THE FAT LADY SINGS

Didn't they cheat the salary cap in the 90's int eh year the won a flag? Pretty sure they still hold that flag! -
If you can't say no to drugs then you simply are not taking your sport seriously enough and in my view should be delisted anyway. It really isn't hard to say no, especially when you dreams and livelihood are on the line. The AFL, both clubs and as a whole has so far to go on this issue it isn't even funny.

1: GWS 2: Sydney 3: Adelaide 4: Dogs 5: WC 6: Dees 7: Saints 8: Hawks/Cats It is really hard to do at this point as the fixture will play its role. With a big bunch of teams all a chance to fill 5th to 8th (WC, Hawks, Freo, Dees, Saints, Cats, Pies, Dons, Tiges, Carlton, Port) it may well come down to who plays who twice and where they play the other games. I get the feeling percentage is going to be very important next year! The only teams I have written off next year from finals contention are Brisbane and Gold Coast and even then Gold Coast could surprise as they have the talent if they can get on the park and gel as a team. Of the teams who I think have a chance of making finals the order of likelihood of them making it to me is: WC Dees = Saints Hawks = Cats Port Pies = Dons = Tiges = Carlton

Yes I would want a full ban for them. It is really very very simple. To be a professional athlete you need to make sacrifices in all areas of your life. This is one area where the consequences are so clear it isn't funny. It really isn't hard to follow the code or to say no to drugs. Zero sympathy here.
-
Oh, the poor little darling, he had heaps of training on the matter, had the rules explained to him many times, and the consequences, yet it appears he still went against them. How he must be suffering.
-
He is 22 now so give it 10 years and he should be due to retire so my guess is 2026. Of course it could be earlier if he happens to do an ACL where he could mysteriously end up with a 12 month ban to suit!
-
except of course those drugs that are banned out f competition by WADA.
-
I think Pedersen will continue to get contracts until we have another option. He is good as depth for the forwards and can play back. Until we have the Weid and maybe Hulett fully up and running and another youngster coming through I can see Pedo staying on the list on 1 year deals.

Judd would be the most likely I would think -
I thought the Friday and Saturday night games were supposed to be good contests involving the top clubs. Makes sense to start the season pitching bottom teams from last year against the teams that came first and third then!
-
According to the hun we have the saints round 1 on the Sunday at Etihad. True to form they bury two up and coming teams on the Sunday, put the collapsing pies on the Friday night and the drug cheats on the Saturday night. Ten bucks it's will end up our home game at that dump too!
-
Was new to me too. Google can teach you all sorts of things you didn't really want to ever know! Thought I would share it with you as if I had to know it because of this site then I thought it was only fair to share it
-
I have no issue with us getting a Friday night, I have a massive issue with the Dons getting one and the way they going to be portrayed as returning heroes! Their first game back should be low key and buried in the fixture. To not do so is to endorse the use of PED's.
-
Easy. Firstly they are a bunch of cheating [censored], club and many players included. The players have served there time so should return, but it shouldn't be to any fan fair. The club have not done their time or even been charged! [censored] them. Secondly they finished last last year. By the reckoning of the AFL themselves that means they don't get prime time games. [censored] the AFL as well while we are at it, they are the most inept, misguided buch of sycophantic idiots I have ever come across.

That would only work if the Riddler has integrity as the integrity unit can sniff out if someone has integrity quick smart and make sure who ever has any has nothing to do with their organisation.
-
Have been thinking about it more and I think the Riddles really needs to tell us, even if it was a hoax. I think it is Nat Fyfe. Butter, a few links, a bloke called Fyfe invented deep fried butter and muso has a song about butter and eggs. Nat butter is also a rather disgusting term for secretions on the end of a dog's old fella. Wings, he has the wings photo copying Jordan. Ocean, he is a docker so is tied to the Ocean. A bloke with the surname of Fyfe is also one of the most famous wooden boat designers of the early and mid 20th century. One of his boats is for sale in Vic at the minute for over 500,000 euro. There aren't many boats in Vic worth that much full stop. He is also from interstate but that all depends on which state you start from.

So what number are we giving him?
