  1. My uneducated two penn'orth: For a team already demonstrably very good, how likely is it that one player - actually, less than one, being only the difference between that player and the pick 13 player - will make the difference between a premiership or not, or even in final ladder position? Whereas a generational 2023-draft group would forge their careers together - 'the whole is greater than the parts' - as our current one is (and it'd overlap nicely with that current group, too 🙂) And there's such expectation on unicorns, whereas a group of mere thoroughbreds will share that load. Unlike me to stick my head up on an actual footy discussion...
  2. Wow, @WalkingCivilWar, it'll be hard for any other tragics to top that. Not stalking for your age, though it might seem like that, but how long were you in the turmoil of that closet for, for goodness sake? And, lie down on this couch and dredge your memory a bit more as to why you dived in to the Dees, to then have to swim so strongly against a blue tide! (#mixedmetaphorsrocknruin)
  3. ...but don't topple over as a result @old dee. We're prone enough as it is! And while I fleetingly have the baton, @Little Goffy, I'm 🤔 about your 🤔. Does Baha Men being the ones 'Who Let the Dogs Out' help? Or was it my cryptic(!) 'DA' reference?
  4. Continuing somewhat off topic (and answers will no doubt be dotted elsewhere around 'Land): As a 50s child, blessed with a 50-year-MCC-member grandfather, I am in awe of those who managed to choose, and rust themselves onto, the Dees of that sorry score of (scoreless?) years from the mid 60s to the mid 80s. And I'm curious as to why they did! Got a story, TFA? Anyone else? (p.s. I presume yours is a confident post-25/9/21 username, not a wistful pre-? 🙂)
  5. I meant to put a brotherhoody winky face with that post, @Demonstone. I'm glad you didn't need it. (I also thought about saying, 'Yesh, yesh, yesh, that's a keeper!' (look it up?) but I wasn't so sure... 😉 )
  6. You're going to need to redeem yourself with the brainteaser, Keefy...
  7. This is worth a look, showcasing some pretty impressive development across the range of requirements of a top-level Australian Football team and top-level Australian Football players. There was still a fair degree of 'clunkiness' in the game as a whole, but this did make me go 'wow!: https://www.melbournefc.com.au/video/1238370/aflw-rd-8-all-the-moments?videoId=1238370&modal=true&type=video&publishFrom=1665895731001
  8. Got that, Jnr, but your WAY elaboration has made my day! Genius.
  9. ⏸️ for this thread then!? ('Look, over there!')
  10. The Season Review & Trade Wrap podcast RFI thread has flushed out a few shy goodies, along with the seasoned warriors. My favourite, for its alpha and numeric mind bends, is @NeveroddoreveN. Owner to elaborate?
  11. Seems like the sorta guy who's gonna appreciate having a bit of colour in his working life at last!😄 Also noting he's (Demon-)unicorn-ed himself. Seems like he's confident to wrest the 'there-can-only-be-one' role from whatsisname! Well played, sir.
  12. (...and re your references, @KLV, @Pennant St Dee and @dazzledavey36) Just revisited the jumper presentation, a reminder of just what an achievement it is to get there.
  13. I've reacted with 😁 to you all, but may I also add 'Bahahaha, men'? (I only know this cultural reference cos it was a DA cryptic theme a couple of weeks ago...)
  14. A couple of Jamesons into the evening, I admit, but here I am, LOL-ing entirely to myself. Thank you, good Sir! And dear old 'Acme', mysterious 'Amazon' of my childhood (which, by the way, was in Warner Brothers 1.0, not the later Sophie Monk reboot!)
  15. Cue diversion of thread to Monty Python references now. Endless Fun! (p.s. Respect to the late 'Lander)
  16. I say, I say, I say, I did, good Sir. See my avatar (Slap! 'Nah!')
  17. This is starting to rival that, content-wise. Fun!
  18. The infinity of the internet delivers again: on a slow Sunday (though I am just about to head off to my own very, very modest band practice...) I've just checked MR's 2001 very-much-world tour schedule. Impressive, Mel! And supports my earlier DL 'rich tapestry' observation 😀
  19. Reckon yours was a good get; you must have been quick(*)? Like the owner of the DEES21 numberplates. (*Some time during the last quarter?)
  20. Couldn't have been the first (though 'skuit' did become 'skort'...); the word 'fashion' gave it away.
  21. The infinity of the internet never ceases to gobsmack me - a search for 'pistachio mondegreen' delivered me instant confirmation of your guess, @WalkingCivilWar. And guess further what! The site was called 'amIright'! (#WCWcatchphrases)
  22. The @skuit is dead (author of his own demise). Long live the @skort!
  23. Shout out to those who named themselves for the 57-year zeitgeist and finally took wing, and a name extension, on 25 September 2021 - @Longsufferingnomore for one. Any more?
