  1. Other interesting stuff (re?)unfolding here: a strong immigrant component to the Demonland siblinghood; and, the possibility of a Demonlander forebears 'Team of the Century'?
  2. More great stories. Keep em coming!
  3. Thanks, B'red, as confessor, and all you confessees. In passing, I'm increasingly struck by how many of my contemporaries are on 'Land. I'd thought foruming was a younger person's pursuit, but go us! Anyway, the 1950s were, as Dickens had it, ...'the best of times...[and then] the worst of times' to be born, Dees support wise. Six premierships in just over the first 10 years of my life. And a 50-year MCC member for a grandfather, for regular free entry as a 'Lady'. And if a sealer was needed? 'Twinkle Toes' RDB. (p.s. Have since brought three 1980s kids along with me. Thank heavens for 2021! Our stars of the 90s, then the successful alignment with then-local Sandy, two blocks up the road, also helped during flighty childhoods and 'meh' adolescences!)
  4. I'm loath to say it, but her goal kicking has probably proven to be not up to it.
  5. The Age / Nine Media must have shares in the Kangas?
  6. Puzzlers, please read whole post. This is not a photo of me... Well... Thanks, 'Stone. Chuffed. And looking forward to your biblical rewrite for third!
  7. I think an explanation of the Green(e)s in green is warranted, Stone?
  8. First one, W et al. It'll grow!
  9. (Deleted)
  10. OK, got it now... https://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/1474186/trade-preview-patterson-excited-by-opportunity Hawthorn for Eliza and Casey? Does anyone have any gen on why?
  11. Entry by 'membership card'. What card? (Just curious; can't get there...)
  12. I noted how McAdam specifically acknowledged Stafford, positively and with elaboration, in his Club website interview. Thanks all Watchers 👏
  13. I'm having a media-free holiday. So, have they? Or do you mean they'll save it until September and November (or wherever the women get thrown this time...) next year?
  14. It would be good to have a discussion here about whether 'us against the world' works - I like it and hope it does. Perhaps with some examples, in the public domain or personal experiences. And how a team goes about making it work. Fire away, 'Landers! 🙃
  15. Interesting, W. It feels like there's been even less losses than that, but it's only about one and a half per team per year. Bulldogs were in that echelon once. Nothing's guaranteed, but long may our girls thrive.
  16. For those values - well assessed, 11 - balanced against the apparent state of his knee/s, does a rookie spot suit? (à la Melksham, retained for similar good reasons) Is one available and would it comply contractually, however? I'm presuming (probably incorrectly!) that the 'senior' list spot freed up is of more value in recruitment...
  17. Good to see a couple of Gaelics and a Basketball in there! I imagine the bibs also had the requisite one or two capital letters on them?
  18. This is as good an excuse as any to start this, the final home and away match thread for AFLW8. I'm expecting the girls to carve 'em up. And, while this again demonstrates that defence and victory go hand in hand, I'm also expecting our stellar forwards to put a 'Yes!' in Casey Sherriff's body language, as opposed to her 'Oh, no!' herein 😁 AFLW Halloween | Pumpkin Carving Challenge Over to you, now, @Meggs, or one of your colleagues, for the real pre-game assessment. (p.s. Like the tops, which they also trained in. Some kind of 'Back To' celebration?)
  19. If nothing else, he'd restock our 'James' cupboard.
  20. ...what? Getting back into the puzzle game, W? 😁
  21. I'll leave the exact percentage calcs to all of you, but in the theoretical 'we lose next week and Collingwood wins this week and next' it depends on all of a) the points scored and b) the margin in our loss and c) the points scored and d) the margins of Collingwood's wins. But what Collingwood has to make up can be determined from the current total points for and points against: MFC: PF - 2704 / PA - 1900 CFC: PF - 2409 / PA - 1952 If Collingwood equal our AFLW record score of 107 both weeks and keep their opposition scoreless, and Brisbane equal our record score and keep us scoreless those numbers become: MFC: PF - 2704 / PA - 2007 134.7% CFC: PF - 2623 / PA - 1952 134.8% I think Anthony Green would call it for us.
  22. Hullo from Bribie Is (where they're also having such a touch!) An extra dose of concentration required from the girls, then. With only half a game to score in, and the other half presenting a heightened defence challenge, this is the sort of game that can slip through the collective fingers. Go (carefully) Dees!
  23. I'm not sure how safe I'd feel in 20,000 at Casey, K! Still, the problem probably wouldn't arise: the ground would be emptying again by the time I arrived from my car park... 😄
