  1. Wasn't it! I hope the players got more out of it than we (and the club - good thoughts, @poita) appeared to be giving them! At least there seemed to be some nice personal interactions when they got round to the DA area where I was.
  2. Took your advice, @BDA and @adonski, and also had consideration for the 'red', @rpfc, and watched only the highlights. 'Twas sufficient... I did check in on their team song, though (we can afford to be magnanimous regarding Saints/1/66), expecting unbridled joy, but...meh. Our boys, and the team around them, know important wins when they see them.
  3. I thought this is where TMac made a contribution beyond the 'classic' stats last night.
  4. This is why I'm riding this train on its journey around the 2023 AFL season - not the 'LJ Thing' (he's forever in my memory for his part in Bang Bang Bang); rather, it's the draft bounty. It's just the reality.
  5. Gonna break new ground here: Gonna sit back with a red and watch a replay of a not-Melbourne game! 🍷
  6. Gus is a bit of a surprise, DD (nice to see though) Possibly the 'behind the goals' effect for me, too.
  7. How. Cool. Is. THAT?! The news, of course! But also the video! 🤗
  8. (I'm surprised this opportunity is still available...) ...though hopefully not the neighsayers, Lachie!
  9. I'm hoping for a mix: Original Model, with Ed owning the outer wing and Lachie to get the benefit of lots of 'Oh, well played, Number 12!' from the Members', but also New Model, changing it up to show the coach has adapted to be more proactive.
  10. From me, too, @Demonland! And yet another DEMONStration of the all-round quality of this site, btw 👏
  11. Götz Otto (aka 'Richard Stamper') Hoping RL götz stamped on, metaphorically, tonight...
  12. Sorry if this has been asked/answered elsewhere, but do any 'Landers know, with authority, who is on the selection panel and what the relative weights of their inputs are? At Round 1, with no 'real' match form to go on, the selections of 'My Boy' McVee and 'Bill' Laurie suggest a body of attributes being seen in them, by possibly a range of informed perspectives, over the preseason's training routines, simulations, etc.
  13. If you're including me in this, Mr Leg, I was just reflecting on my own unpleasant experience of calves combined with ageing! To the extent my post seemed to be a diagnosis, its underlying purpose was just to say, 'take your time, Stephen.' Nonetheless, I'll decline your generous invitation and put away the stethoscope.
  14. Was the kicking 'off a step' or with run-up? I'm in the '224' camp if it was the former. Here's to tomorrow night showing he can take his time!
  15. Ninthmond, naturally! Ahhh, remember the good old days...
  16. But I crave more winners! So how about this? If you haven't guessed by now, it's about the NUMBERS. Specifically, the incoming numbers and the numbers they replace.
  17. I'd have to admit it must be looking as sensible as this to you at the moment:
  18. Also, in 2(!) earlier posts, I did refer to the minutes separating mo64's and Demonstone's entries as 'Salo' minutes...
  19. Alright, @WalkingCivilWar, here you go - your pain has echoes of mine, wrestling with @Demonstone's 'Zinger' puzzle. Before I do, though, congrats to BigW#2, @Witches Hat, for taking the bronze, with the benefit of my 'What the huh!?' clue. But, given the gold sharing, I'm going to un-Olympically upgrade it to silver, so bronze is still available to you, BigW#1! No need to hurry (unless there are any Stephen Bradburys lurking... @dl4e? @layzie? ); I've doused the fire in my pocket. So, from my last (disputed) clue... '...2...number...1...6...4...4...2...numerical...4...4...'
  20. Can I, can I, can I, now, pretty please? My Boy... https://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/1282669/dees-duo-to-debut
  21. Thanks for hanging in there, my 2 BigWs (@WalkingCivilWar and @Witches Hat) - and any other puzzlers out there. You'd think I could come up with any number of clues but I'm struggling! So I'll borrow 1 of @Demonstone's interesting side aspects: There were just 6 candidates in the men's team for the 4 unavailabilities that would allow the 4 particular replacements that would complete the 'something' for the women's team. DS noted that the other 2 happened to be not only our positional bookends, but our numerical ones as well; Maysie and BBB! Any other outs would have left the 'something' incomplete. (I could have outed Stephen or Ben; the 4 I chose were merely the closest to like-for-like for the 4 who had to come in.)
  22. @Lucifers Hero - Great and appreciated body of work, Luci! Any room in it for the coach? Can't have too many 🏆🏆🏆!
