21st century Team Of The Century
The end of the first quarter of the century is approaching. How near do we think the team is to commensurately being a quarter filled? How many have already demonstrated they are of the calibre of the 28 members of the 20th century's team? Can we find 7? M.Gawn must be a lock. D.Neitz is probably a lock. Does N.Jones also get in on weight of numbers and stick-with-it-ness, Gary-Hardeman-like? Did we lose C.Petracca too early? His 212 games does compare with G.Wells' 224 and S.Alves' 226, though. K.Pickett is on track. After that, are any of the following 'up there' - Bruce, Davey, Green, J.McDonald, Robertson, J.Viney, White, Yze? Are any of our current 'youth' prospective? As to the coach, I hope the next 3 quarter centuries deliver someone to surpass, by a significant distance, the current front-runner, S.Goodwin!

Training Ground?
Hang on a tick!...

The Midfield - where do the Demons stand?
I hope the AFL steps in to 'equalise'. Kangas, Power and Saints have unfair numerical advantages (😄)

Training Ground?
'Stalled', you say? Well, it is there for horses...

Training Ground?
The facilities look pretty vacant, G, in contrast to the stack of vehicles evident in google satellite view. Are they vacant? It would remove facilities relocation from the issues to be faced.

New Coach, New Captain?
Well, Disco now has another 5 years to work into captaincy contention! 😊

New Coach, New Captain?
Um, he didn't volunteer it; he was answering a (random!) question about connection between changes and the captaincy: "There's been a lot of change happening at Melbourne. Do you see yourself continuing as captain next year?" On balance, his answer was of the 'I'd love to keep it' variety. https://www.melbournefc.com.au/video/1941050/afl-origin-gawnys-excited?videoId=1941050&modal=true&type=video&publishFrom=1765387812001

AFLW Trade Period 2025
The Club's article has her as a 'tall 'forward'. This comes across as a 'we lost Eden but here's Mia' play. It's 5'10" replacing 6'0", actually, but the highlights do show a bit of Eden-like ability and aggression. We'll see. Though it does offset, a little bit, any misgivings that the Zanker trade was 'unders' (I personally think the end result of 2 first round picks for a team that finished 3rd ain't so bad...)

Welcome to Demonland: Thomas Matthews
...just in case he doesn't make it and he has to be - in the modern commercial vernacular - sundried...

Mick Stinear Steps Down
Curiously no media interest in it either?

Good luck to him, and not a surprise. But I'm uncomfortable with the speed of it.

AFLW Trade Period 2025
Very sorry to see Eden go (we have a pet in the family named for her, as posted elsewhere sometime 😊🥺) As to the trade, though, it's interesting to note she wasn't top 10 in the 'Daisy', despite her goals tally (while co-forward Alyssa B was, despite what appeared to be a poor - and definitely low-goals - season).

The second easiest team puzzle ever
'Our good friend Geoff' stands alone among Melbourne players for his 2 goals being the top score in his 1 game. But, to 2008 (I'm relying on my 150th anniversary MFC history) he is joined by only 3 others kicking 2 goals in their 1 game. Graeme Aubrey's 'Margitich' was the 1968 season's end. He debuted in the last game - like Frood, in a big loss to Richmond, 'away'. He kicked 2.2, and his 19 possies was 4th best, behind only B.Dixon, H.Mann and another. Many MFC champs were lesser lights than Graeme that day. He remained on the list in '69 but never delivered on his 1 game's promise. 'Midget' Arthur Britt kicked a quarter of MFC's score (two others also kicked 2) in a win against Carlton in 1902. More we cannot say, except that he was cleared to St Kilda for 1903. An 'Edwardian Clarrie' perhaps? 1954 Footscray premiership player John Kerr transferred to MFC during 1958, to second-top-score in round 15 at Glenferrie Oval behind A.Webb (6). He made it no further, who knows why, and certainly not to that year's fateful grand final... No 1-gamer has bagged 3.

What was your source, btw, @Little Goffy? Also, à la @Demonstone, maybe a reveal of the more subtle clues (Andrew Gaff. Dammit!)

Do NOT apologise! As I've already said and spent waaaay too much on it, just this, then: Excellent quiz 👏 p.s. (post spew) Confession #1: I was never close. Confession #2: It hurts just a little bit cos it's just the sort of quiz I'd have set. So a mix of inadequacy and jealousy!)

@demon-4-life, exceptionally well done! Now, then; I believe it is customary for winners to grin by joining in the hinting?

Ergo, Viney x 2, Lyon, Healy and Flower are also not eligible?
