Pre-match thread: NAB Challenge Game 3 - St Kilda v Melbourne
DubDee replied to DemonLad5's topic in Melbourne Demons
We haven't beaten them for 10 years. -
Warms the heart to see number 9 out there looking fit. Gee I hope he can play 5+ seasons and show us what he can do

good to hear Angus should play a VFL game next weekend! from the squad listed, with VDB, Angus and Dunn coming back we'll need to trim it by 7. not an easy task -
we'll start favourite or close to favourite in 4 of the 12. i reckon we can snag a couple of extra wins against Tiges and one against Pies. so my guess/hope is 6 wins out of 6. win 4 in the 2nd half of the season and end on 10 wins

saints have their full team playing. you look it and there are 3-4 old guns. and i mean old. then they have 2-3 good youngsters and maybe 2 good mid age players. they have a lot of plodders i know I am biased but our squad is a lot better than theirs, surely? i expect 3 wins against the saints this year -

I agree PG. i see it as a good sign that 2nd year players cant just walk into the 22. we have unusually decided to play the best fit players in all 3 games and he hasnt made the cut as our midfield is actually decent now. Matt jones is probably the one taking his spot. so now - unlike other years - the young guy will have to knuckle down and lift his game and training strandards to a higher level Good signs! Hopefully he dominates at casey as he did last year and knocks the door down I think Mitch White had an injury concerns a few weeks back so maybe not fully fit -

only a praccy match but it will be telling how we use the ball at etihad and how our skills look. we've had 2 hit outs to blow out the cobwebs will also be interesting to see us having to stick to 90 rotations and how our fitness looks against the saints. Hogan will come back in, wouldn't think they will be too many other first 22 players left out of the side as we'll have 2 weeks to rest up. Carn the Dees! -
why does the media give such credence to what Eddie suggests? such ridiculous ideas. premiership points from the NAB challenge, knock down a stadium and build another one. how about getting back to grass roots and putting the money into stadiums around Melbourne, Princes park, waverly wherever. it would add a lot to the game
-
dont think the Dogs will back up there season last year. best senior players all on the wrong side of 30 and that should start to show, much harder draw too i think we'll see the rise of two of my least favourite teams in GWS and the Pies. think Port will just miss out as well. Westcoast Sydney Richmond Hawthorn Collingwood Fremantle GWS Geelong

Could Melbourne have Western Bulldogs-like resurgence in 2016?
DubDee replied to Curry & Beer's topic in Melbourne Demons
you know you've been a Dees fan for a while when I had to scan the article for sarcasm. Hmm, not written by Titus O'reilly... it seems to be a serious article actually saying we could get around 15 wins. positive press! go Dees! everything would have to go right for us to do that. Dogs had an easy draw and the planets aligned for them. its nice to be a position to even dream about this rather than go kinto the season dreading most games -
Schwadda, love him. so fked he didnt get a few seasons to fulfil his potential. Was a bittersweet treat watching those highlights. that team was terrific. worlds away from what we have been watching over the past decade like him in the media too
-
i just expected us to comfortably beat a beat missing their 15 best players. i acknowledged we were good in the last quarter. overall our effort was good all day - the skills were shocking. hopefully the conditions were mostly to blame
-
some are seriously arguing that they only had their best 15 players out - they still had a good team. hilarious. we were poor for 3 quarters and finally started playing in the 4th. if we dont play better than that we wont win many more than last year
-
i dont mean play well every now and again and then be terrible, I mean play consistent;y well and be leading by 4 goals. we were losing after each of the first 3 quarters. our last quarter was good but thats the least you would expect - our senior players to run over the top of their kids
-
still not sure what to make of yesterday. Great to have won 2 practice games on the trot. but the Dogs team was a VFL team, they werent just missing 'a few'. maybe 4 guys playing that will be in the 22 for round 1. do you think we would have competed if that was the case for us? we should have looked a class above. we should have lead comfortably all day. So overall, despite winning, I am less confident going into round one than I was before this game. you just have to look at how the Pies and GWS are playing. they look organised, highly skilled. And again - terrible start to the game! what are the odds of GWS being 3 goals+ up at 1/4 time round 1? I would put money on it. it'll be very interesting to see how we go against a near full strength St kilda

It means a little ive seen article saying demons win 2 from 2. God knows we need some positive press good for membership. Good for confidence.

Tom McDonald needs to take a good hard look at himself.
DubDee replied to dazzledavey36's topic in Melbourne Demons
He was notably poor today with the ball. Although his number one role is to beat his opponent and he did that. He still needs coaching on how to play to his strengths when he gets the ball i think garland was worse today. Really just seemed off. Hopefully just cobwebs -
WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - CLAYTON OLIVER
DubDee replied to Freddy Fuschia's topic in Melbourne Demons
He was the main positive out of today. 9 contested possessions, showed he can take a mark and most importantly looks so comfortable at afl level on the ball or smashing someone is a tackle. If he stays fit he will play 15 games plus. Wont be long til he has the best handball in the team -
Hi guys, looking for a league to join. Team name: not rebuilding cheers

I assume it will allowed for dees supporters to bring banners saying beat the cheats and drug cheats etc? I'll be getting the textas out! Once I think of something witty enough

Bernie on AFL Tonight (Fox Footy, 6.30pm Friday 4 March)

Guide says it's on at 5 and 6pm on foxportsnews. Ch 500 -
theyll have a crack down for 6-7 rounds and then relax the interpretation and then at some unknown point later in the season will go hard again and wonder why players are confused what a joke the AFL and umpires are. its the one thing i dont miss about footy - pulling my hair out at the inconsistent, rubbish umpiring. Umpires should have to have played the game for 5+ years in my opinion. its too fast and complex a game to read about in books ill try to stop my rant there!

Get in Kieran Jack's ear Roosey!

are you referring to the Pedersen that over 3 seasons has played 36 games and kicked 25 goals? (I know some games were played in defence) he doesnt get involved enough in games and is too slow to put any pressure on. having said that, he will be CHF for round one I'd say, given dawes is injured. but to say he is streets aheads of the other options is crazy. fact is we have no good 2nd fwd/ruck and we need to deal with what we have
-
so good to see a first game player getting in trouble for being too rough. can you imagine that happening to the draft class of 2009? [JT aside] maybe change thread title from 'Oliver avoids ban' to 'Oliver gets BS fine'? hate how the AFL comes out every year with issues they are "going to crack down on". how about you just enforce the rules that are there fairly and consistently? Viney and Vandaberg are gonna be suspended every third game at this rate
